Don't state legislators get full-time state employee health insurance for part-time legislative positions? If so, it's an indefensible perk. What does that cost the taxpayers? Max, would be an interesting FOI request to see which members benefit, what it costs.

If the underlying philosophy of the Rs still remains to oppose policies that would increase the national debt, then this proposition has some flawed logic. Average costs per person through the Exchange are significantly more than what it would cost to pay for the same person through Medicaid.

In any event, this is in part a ploy to avoid discussing those between 17%-100% of FPL, you know...those dastardly no good, lazy, druggies who suck on the government teat.

Since 90% of all health issues are due to drive-by shootings and armed robbery, it stands to reason that as guns decrease crime, they also decrease the need for health care.

Whatever benefits large employers corporate wealthfare bottom line most is what will happen. Tying public care to poverty rates while allowing pharmaceuticals to remain sky high and without possibility of negotiated prices, insurance expected to be at least 5 times the admin cost of medicare, large employers exempt from mandated insurance or keeping their employees so poor with low hours that they "qualify" for medicare.
It's not about health except for the looting.

Dismang and several others need to suck it up and do what's right for the people of Arkansas. Blocking progress and offering half-baked alternatives to full expansion of the Medicaid program is just so much grandstanding. The people of Arkansas deserve better. Those served by Medicaid and those who would be served with the expansion certainly deserve better. I've already called my representatives in the legislature. If you haven't you should. If they don't hear from constituents the posturing ala Dismang will continue to the detriment of the best interests of the people of Arkansas.
