Uverse FINALLY started working for me yesterday. I had no phone, cable or 'net since Monday evening. Couldn't even call to find out what the problem was. I borrowed a neighbor's cellphone to report the outage Tuesday and was told it would be fixed that night. I got a courtesy call from ATT last night saying they'd fixed the problem, but taking four days to 'fix a software upgrade problem' (if that was the real cause - I'm betting they were hacked) is lousy customer service IMO. It was kinda peaceful not having the phone, but I'm glad to have it back on. BUT...this makes me doubt my practice of bundling multiple services with the same provider to save money. I might spread the wealth a bit after I move later this year.

William "The bloody and always wrong about everything" Kristol is giving a rave review to Tom Cotton on CSPAN as I type. Kristol was in Palin's thrall early on. I'm not sure I would want his endorsement if I were Cotton.

Some callers are beating Kristol up pretty good about his chicken hawk ways and always being wrong.

Cotton needs to get busy mending fences with all the north eastern republicans he has pissed off if he wants to be a player on the national scene. The world is a lot bigger than Yellville.

Loved that cartoon, NVR. To be just, it wasn't a fair fight. Secretary Clinton is always in fighting trim. She has to be because these douchnozzles have been after her for at least twenty years. She, like her husband, is still standing. That really drives "them" crazy.

Durango, some of the funniest obits I have ever read were from an alumni magazine of some English university. If I ever come across it again, I will post it.

Read this and weep or jubilate as the case may be.
"Republicans have run out of persuadable white voters. For the fifth time in the past six presidential elections, Republicans lost the popular vote. Trying to win a national election by gaining a larger and larger share of a smaller and smaller portion of the electorate is a losing political proposition."

BWC, we may have to have both a federal and a state division award this year because we have so many at the state level already vying for the dumber-than-dogshit award! The only question is whether you get that way before or after an "R" appears after your name on a ballot. I would hate to put the blame on rural Arkansas schools but I guess those are their relatives teaching there.

Of all words, for some reason, I think I hate the word FART most of all, don't know why really, but even as a boy I thought it was a super ugly word.......

Wal-Mart produced a highly publicized Popcorn Fart today. Hopefully I don't personally know anyone who buys a shopping cart full of ammo when they go to Wal-Mart. What says bad juju comin like some dude buying a shopping cart full of ammo? So today Wal-Mart releases a Popcorn Fart by limiting ammo purchases to 3 boxes per day per customer. Holy Jesus we've been saved!!!

Can anyone on this blog tell me how many people 1 box of ammo can kill? Let me just guess 10 for discussion purposes, so tomorrow I can go to Wal-Mart and buy 3 boxes of ammo and kill 30 people....hmm...just about enough to pull off another Sandy Hook massacre.

But if I was a smart guy who was busy spray-painting my head red, I'd put my 3 boxes of ammo on the shelf, wait till the next day and buy 3 more boxes and the next day and the next day and the next day.....364 days per year x 3 boxes x 30 people....by next Christmas I could kill everyone in Alma, Arkansas. Great going Wal-Mart...where's the reduced prices on diabetic stuff you promised in the NY Times 5 months ago?

Harry Reid screwed us good today and for the next 2 long miserable years by deciding not to make any meaningful changes to the filibuster. He capitulated to a powerless insane political party who will continue to be the tail that wags the Democratic dog for 2 more years. Perhaps Eureka is right after all. Makes me want to buy 3 boxes of ammo from Wal-Mart.

      "Durango, . . . here's a hell of an obit for you!"

Wow, HHW! A helluva story and obit, indeed! And one that’s now been added to my “permanent collection.” Muchas gracias for posting it, lady friend. And be assured that my fellow obit collectors to whom I’ve just forwarded it will be equally grateful.

I’ll never understand people like Linda Riss and Burton Pugach, HHW. Not in a million years. Guess it’s like an old gal down in southeast Arkansas often says: “Th’ Lord made ‘em and th’ Lord paired ‘em.” Never say it to her, but I sometimes gotta wonder about the Lord.

Goof, it is wholly a pleasure to learn you’ve discovered Mara Leveritt and her outstanding works. Is she a peerlessly-thorough investigative journalist and splendid writer or what?

If you haven’t already done it, be sure to read the 53 pages of detailed notes at the end of “Devil’s Knot.” And 15 such pages at the back of “The Boys on the Tracks.” You’ll find many fascinating details there.

‘Twas a great day for The Natural State when Mara Leveritt came here. She has set many people free, and not just the West Memphis Three.

But they sure know they're dying, and that makes them even more dangerous. See Virginia's GOP gerrymandering, Mississippi shutting down its last abortion clinic, that "tampering with the evidence" anti-women's-freedom idiot in New Mexico, Missouri and Colorado legally insisting on "creationism" being taught alongside evolution, et al.

Yep. They know they're dying.
