"High Flight"
by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God

Mason was my flight instructor, we spent so many hours shoulder to shoulder engaged in various conversations about our daily lives and always pushed me to be a better pilot. It hurts to be sending texts about setting up times to fly one day and the next day he's gone..... save me a seat bro! My heart goes out to his family. Jamar A.

"Gravity" a poem by Bob Moore

We men of flying, with planes so light
Building each one for an enjoyous flight
Hoping to prove our magnificent skills
pay off with a flight of soaring thrills

We test and tune with such great care
Hoping to keep it aflight in the air
Heading the wings straight into the wind
Knowing that gravity will win in the end

We use the lightest woods, keeping items so small
to enable our planes to lift and not fall
But no matter what we do, gravity never does release
bringing us back to earth not always in one piece.

But in life affairs, and in ones' days beyond
Our friend has been released from this gravity bond
to soar up so high, above the clouds and air
for Heaven welcomes his final landing there.

It's just shocking to learn that Mason is not amongst us anymore and had to pass away from an unfortunate plane crash under his command.
He always encouraged me and other flight students to study and fly regularly.
Jovial, hard-working, fun-loving and easy going: that was Mason.

I met Mason in 2010, when I started at CFS. He was a student who became an employee. I don't know what I would have without him there. He was my savior so many times. I had the honor of knowing him and calling him a great friend. I watched him grow into a great pilot with wonderful and endless abilities. I loved him like a brother. We all did, he was funny, smart , loved soccer and would have done anything to help anyone. Which he did many times. My heart continues to break for his family and his aviation family. We love you dearly!
