FT, the schools can't do much about what happens outside of school, but pointing to that source of problems is a nice diversion from seeking solutions to problems inside school.

      FT--political power and teachers union?
Considering the proposal of Supt. Morris to put armed guards in schools, we need the teacher's union to balance things out. Seems to me that beginning with Williams, LR superintendants have had their own agenda and it is seldom about education.

School performance will always be primarily dependent on parents and home environment. Sure there is room on the margins for teachers, means, and methods. Less money is not likely to ever produce better results. But of course this has nothing to do with that. This is about money and the political power of the teachers union.

      >> “Is the lower average return on these schools worth the lower cost?”

Well, that's a no-brainer when greeter jobs, fast food servers are the leading job growth areas in your state. That's Ark and Florida.

And what would Post-Reagan America be without distinct lines of class and ways to maintain them.

Max, you eternally foolish person. You seem to think that if something has proven not to work or contradicts reality or hurts the people of this country .... it will dissuade Repugs and their 1% owners from trying to impose it on us.

If they can imagine personal financial gain from legislative fiat, they will work like demons to force us to comply, hang the damage it will do to the rest of us short-term and long-term.

You and the Green Party have a lot in common in your Quixotic attempts to bring sanity and justice into American policy. Keep it up. Maybe enough of us will wake up to stop them.

Lord, please spare us from Jeb Bush. My nerves are already shot and it's mostly Bush IIs fault. I just don't think we need his guiding wisdom; we might as well ask my dog. However, he is asleep right now waiting for the cat.
