Mr. Rodgers is far, so far from being what a good, or even fair superintendent is. I really don't have any clue as to why NLR has chosen him, but l feel for you. In Terrell, all he has done is brought the schools down, and has taken the name of Terrell along with it. He does not care about education in the least bit. Education is a huge deal and I'm afraid for our future with people like this being in charge. On top of being so inept at his job, he would cover up serious matters that went on within the district. There are so many complaints, if there would have been at least a little research done by NLR, I'm sure the outcome would have been different. Nonetheless he's gone, and I am oh so happy for that.

You should have checked his history as a principal. If school boards would take the time to just call parents, you would have found out the truth. Of course, i would have smiled and been gracious if they had called me just so we could get him out of town. When I heard the news last night, I wanted to go over to his house and help him pack and rent him a u-haul so he could leave town sooner. Now that we have an opening in Terrell, maybe Mr. Acklin would consider applying for the position here. Sounds like he is a man of integrity and character. I will bet that Mr. Acklin will leave after a year under Mr. Rodgers. All of our best Asst. Principals left because of him. I hope your school police force has character, because Mr. Rodgers hides all illegal school activity (fights, drugs, sex in parking lot...) as kids just being kids.

NLR ISD should have taken more time to hire a new Superintendent. I guarantee NLR will be sorry they made this decision in 12 months. If the School Board does not run him out by the end of next school year, you should look to vote them all out as I hope we will begin to in Terrell. He's a slick dresser but has NOTHING for you. Literally, my bull mastiff could lead a school district better than him. A school district is better off not having a Superintendent at all! He is not a teacher or student Superintendent, he doesn't care about anyone, but himself. You should have done your homework NLR, he was going to leave us at the end of the year anyway because he was going to be run out. Let this be a lesson and heed the warnings.

Your right about the blowed dried hair.. All NLRSD had to do was "google" and see the mess! Ran every school district that he has been over to the ground! Hopefully, your school board will know when they had enough and fire him! Parents be ready.. he doesn't care about children's safety and when there is snow they will be in school! He will cover up anything bad that may happen in the district. But, glad he is finally out because our school board would never fire him.. guess he paid them off too!

Gee, what a surprise: Bobby Acklin, the NLRSD’s African-American assistant superintendent for desegregation and student services, was cast aside for an unknown out-of-state white.

Never mind Acklin’s successful 24-year history with the district; or that he possesses all the traits of a strong leader; or that his brilliant, gutsy, and brutally-honest 2010 testimony in federal court was key to the district’s being granted unitary status and released from further federal court supervision of desegregation efforts.

And never mind Acklin’s stated goals of improving student discipline and safety, raising student achievement, pressing hard to eliminate the achievement gap between different student groups, overseeing and completing the district’s new building program, and keeping communication lines open with ALL the district’s constituencies.

The NLRSD board has, imo, once again proved that the good guy and the best candidate doesn’t always win. Seriously doubt Acklin will ever read these lines, but wish he’d apply for superintendent of the LRSD.

PS: Congratulations Mr. Rodgers. Wish you the best. Seriously.
