Never mind Acklin’s successful 24-year history with the district; or that he possesses all the traits of a strong leader; or that his brilliant, gutsy, and brutally-honest 2010 testimony in federal court was key to the district’s being granted unitary status and released from further federal court supervision of desegregation efforts.

And never mind Acklin’s stated goals of improving student discipline and safety, raising student achievement, pressing hard to eliminate the achievement gap between different student groups, overseeing and completing the district’s new building program, and keeping communication lines open with ALL the district’s constituencies.

The NLRSD board has, imo, once again proved that the good guy and the best candidate doesn’t always win. Seriously doubt Acklin will ever read these lines, but wish he’d apply for superintendent of the LRSD.
