This is a bit of a stretch. What is the saying? You can make numbers say anything to make your point.

Number of people killed by Semi-Auto Rifles last year? 450
Number of people killed by drunk drivers driving a 2004 Chevy Tahoe? 134
"In 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour.

73,505 Americans were treated in hospital emergency departments for non-fatal gunshot wounds in 2010."
I don't know if this particular bill is "shoddily written" or not, but Bill Clinton's gun control policy attributed to the horrible number of deaths at Ft Hood because the only person who did not obey Clinton's gun control policy was the shooter and he knew all the other honest soldiers would not be armed and he took all of 10 minutes to mow them all down.

From a liberal point of view Max considers us "gun nuts" but we just don't think the "CARRYING A HANDGUN IS PROHIBITED" poster will work. However, I have posted a video from Fox News that seems to dispute that idea.
Dodge City was a lawless, Godless place -- and they banned firearms from being carried. The gunfight at the OK corral started because the cowboys would not turn in their guns.

Churches are lawful, holy places, and firearms are allowed to be carried. No gunfights have occurred because a deacon would not disarm himself.

What do rational people conclude? Only that guns, by themselves, create holiness. Nothing brings you closer to God than a Glock in a shoulder holster underneath that suit jacket.

This will be reason # 4849 for people to quit going to church. Church attendance is on the decline, fewer people each year say they're Christians or any brand of religious.

Our younger generation is too bright to keep up the hocus-pocus, like joining the IOOF used to be cool until it wasn't, religion and the evil that it does is slowly circling the drain and that's a good thing.

Why....if all religion left the world at 10 am today, peace would start breaking out around the globe by sundown. Amen and amen!

Again gun nuts: The bill, which is linked and quoted from directly, indeed gives church gun permission power. But it is silent on notice to the public at large that walks through those doors. Huge liability question. A fair reading of the law linked is that those churches that want to prohibit guns best do so as the law provides all others who wish to exercise discretion to prohibit guns. I'd say a visitor with gun who entered a no-gun premises would have an affirmative defense of lack of notice. This bill is shoddily written.

Major problem with this law? Most churches also have a school on campus. It is illegal to have a gun within X feet of a school. Sooooooo???

Btw, "Alcohol Nuts" (in reference to writers "Gun Nuts" quote) don't like to think about this, but I really think we need to have a honest discussion of requiring people to get a permit before they can drink Alcohol. And then setup a national database that tracks how many drinks you have each nite.

Number of people killed by Semi-Auto Rifles last year? 450
Number of people killed by drunk drivers? 10,839

I think it is safe to say that all the DUI laws (just like gun laws) haven't been enforced and we just need to ban the sale of Alcohol after 9pm, require Alcohol Permits, and Setup a national "Drinks" Database.

Max before you show your ignorance you need to actually read the bill. It states that only the people that have permision from the church can carry in that church, not just anyone that walks in the door. You should be more informed. Here is another tidbit for you, all the churches that have hired off duty police officers or have police officers that are members that carry concealed are in violation of the law. As it is right now there is now LEO exemption, so they cannot carry either. By the way three churches were robbed in Arkansas last year during service.

Each individual has a God given right to defend life. If its with a pen, a sword, a bow, a knife, a firearm... What does it matter? They are tools. If those who wish to commit crime with a firearm faced only those with pens and knives... Would the decision to disarm honest people inherit the responsibility of protecting life? Hardly! Why should my God given rights end at a building where I intend to praise Him? Who gave you the authority to determine when my life is less valuable? I will not be forced to believe that it is God's will that I leave my witts and protection at the door. It is the will of tyrants! Tyrants who fear pens, knives and guns because those are the tools of a society capable of making its own decisions! Bombast I say!

Citizen, concealed carry permit holders can carry anywhere in Arkansas, except where prohibited specifically by state and federal law, even places that unlicensed citizens are barred from carrying. The CHCL law has a list of prohibited places that every permit holder must learn (by law) and know. One of those places is currently a church, and since it is listed as a prohibited place, a sign is not needed. Under the proposed change, a church is still a prohibited place that doesn't need a sign, and licensed gun owners know it, but they also will know that the law now allows churches to opt out of the prohibited list and can decide on their own whether to allow carry or who is allowed to carry, just like other private entities are allowed to do. These permit holders still know that if they want to carry into a church, they have to know what the church's policy is, and must follow their private rules, or they could be arrested and lose their privilege (and it is a state privilege) to carry a Personal Defense Weapon.

The Funding Fathers would wonder what these weird Republicans are doing legislating about small government while shoving their AK-47's into bedrooms and shoving things into their wive's "V" without every Republican not having to wear a very large "A". They actually knew why the call the large room at most churches, except Saline's apparently, the "sanctuary". Actually in RI and PA, Saline and his ilk would have been escorted to the state's border and pointed west so they could do and find savages like themselves.

Elwood thanks for the partial compliment.

WILL A FEW PISTOLS STOP ALL THOSE KILLERS IN THE CHURCH YOU ASK.

Let's look at what happened to Ft Hood where my nephew is currently stationed when Bill Clinton became President and put in his gun control philosophy into action.

I THINK YOU WILL SEE A DIRECT COMPARISON BECAUSE MAJOR NIDAL MALIK HASAN KNEW THERE WERE NO PISTOLS PRESENT IN THE AREA HE STARTING SHOOTING IN AND HE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE SHOOTING FOR 10 STRAIGHT MINUTES WITHOUT INTERRUPTION!!!!

Shouldn’t an army base be the last place where a terrorist should be able to shoot at people uninterrupted for 10 minutes? After all, an army base is filled with soldiers who carry guns, right? Unfortunately, that is not the case. Beginning in March 1993, under the Clinton administration, the army forbids military personnel from carrying their own personal firearms and mandates that “a credible and specific threat against [Department of the Army] personnel [exist] in that region” before military personnel “may be authorized to carry firearms for personal protection.” …The unarmed soldiers could do little more than cower as Major Nidal Malik Hasan stood on a desk and shot down into the cubicles in which his victims were trapped. Some behaved heroically, such as private first class Marquest Smith who repeatedly risked his life removing five soldiers and a civilian from the carnage. But, being unarmed, these soldiers were unable to stop Hasan’s attack. The wife of one of the soldiers shot at Ft. Hood understood this all too well. Mandy Foster’s husband had been shot but was fortunate enough not to be seriously injured. In an interview on CNN on Monday night, Mrs. Foster was asked by anchor John Roberts how she felt about her husband “still scheduled for deployment in January” to Afghanistan. Ms. Foster responded: “At least he’s safe there and he can fire back, right?” — It is hard to believe that we don’t trust soldiers with guns on an army base when we trust these very same men in Iraq and Afghanistan. …The law-abiding, not the criminals, are the ones who obey the ban on guns. Instead of making areas safe for victims, the bans make it safe for the criminal. Hasan not only violated the army’s ban on carrying a gun, he also apparently violated the rules that require soldiers to register privately owned guns at the post. Research shows that allowing individuals to defend themselves dramatically reduces the rates of multiple victim public shootings. Even if attacks still occur, having civilians with permitted concealed handguns limits the damage. A major factor in determining how many people are harmed by these killers is the amount of time that elapses between when the attack starts and someone is able to arrive on the scene with a gun. …All the multiple victim public shootings in the U.S. — in which more than three people have been killed — have all occurred in places where concealed handguns have been banned.

Saline is right but, as usual, he's a bit of a wimp in the application.

As we all know from centuries of church massacres that prohibitive signs won't keep killers from church any more than a few pistols in the congregation will stop them.

So, to complete this bill ALL churches will have armed guards at every entrance. It's the least we can do to support Christianity, the origial and true religion of America. Additionally all income earned by armed church guards will be tax free.
