Is there no one in Little Rock or North Little Rock besides Max who will come forward and demand that this hillbilly version of a bridge be redesigned? ANYONE???

Max was right when he said Judge BV and officials think tourists will flock from all around to see it. Unfortunately, it will be the same people who flock to Texas to see the Barbed Wire Museum, to Washing state to see Seattle’s Chewing Gum Wall, to South Dakota to see the Corn Palace or to Nebraska to see Carhenge.

If you wonder what sort of tourists will be flooding our capitol city to see our very own version of “keeping the Christmas lights on the trailer all year long”, just check out CMT’s new reality show “My Big redneck Vacation”. Downtown LR and NLR will need extra parking for the rvs and pull campers because these folks won’t be eating at the Packet House or staying at the new Marriott.

When you Google “ugly bridges” there are 3,860,000, so I guess we will have lots of company when this thing is put at the head of the list. But hey, free advertising!

I understand Judge BV is a proud vet and his motivation for this design is to honor our country and the people who have served. I doubt anyone wouldn’t want to do that. But can’t we come up with a more dignified and respectful manner that would accomplish the same thing? A beautiful place veterans would be proud to bring their family and friends and have a moment of reverence without Christmas lights blinding them?

The Arkansas River is so much greater than the sum of its parts. The waterway and the two cities along the banks deserve much more than a carnival ride at the state fair connecting them.

There is a good reason why this thing doesn’t exist anywhere else.

Nobody believes me anyhow. Nobody believes the Darlenes scammed Tampa and the Magic Underwear, despite proof. Nobody but Razorbabies and their loved ones read this blog anyway. So who cares.

I spent over an hour last night / early this morning (Wednesday / Thursday) talking with Hillary (H-Rod to insiders. Kiki--for Kickass--or K.C.--to intimates) about running, not running.

She's perfectly aware she's the only woman in America who could actually become POTUS at this moment in history. She's perfectly aware there's no other woman even remotely positioned or coming up behind her who could achieve it. She's perfectly aware of her global connections and the status she's attained as Secretary of State. She's perfectly aware she'd have to rethink her hair.

She's got private health concerns, as do many her age, susceptible to stress triggers, and what's more stressful than POTUS?

She HATES not finishing anything she starts. She's a total realist who researches more deeply and thoroughly than anybody since Curie or Salk (Scorpios too). BEYOND smart. A memory bigger and longer than a HERD of elephants.

She's like Streisand in that she's SO smart, SO talented, SO informed, SO professional, SO qualified and SO dedicated that she finds it nearly impossible to put together a team she trusts to be all those things as much as she trusts herself. She DETESTS slip-ups and the slightest incompetence. There simply AREN'T any excuses. EVER. Except maybe illness that would kill anybody else.

Talk about the show must go on . . . .

She and Big Dog are battle tested combat survivors like D-Day vets. There's nothing anybody can throw at them now. Fate's all that's left.

And THAT she wonders about. She's had a sense of mission since before potty training. It's a power to transform her world and THE world that goes beyond merely personal: it's God-given. She knows it, honors it, and wonders what she'd do with it if she DIDN'T run. Or (flitting gnat of a thought) if she lost.

She won't spend her considerable talents and formidable energies beautifying highways and cutting ribbons.

She's also one of the funniest, most sensitive and compassionate people you'd ever know. Expert at hiding her maternal instincts for family, loved ones and underdogs behind a sarcasm so surgically deft and precise that few realize they've been sliced until she's left the room and somebody else mentions they're bleeding to death and maybe should call 911.

If she likes you she's got your back forever. If she doesn't, you're politely unnoticed. And she REALLY loves this country.

She not only doesn't suffer fools gladly, she flattens them madly.

I've never thought she would run for POTUS. What sane person would?

But in the final analysis, Kiki's as rich and deep a mystery as the Marianas Trench; as towering and inspiring (and treacherous to amateurs) as Mount Everest. UTTERLY her own woman.

And stubbornly, quietly, defiant. She makes her OWN Fate.

So when she asked about her stars and I warned of what lies ahead, it probably means she WILL run.

After all, Sir Edmund's name was Hillary and you can't keep a good man down.

"Eye-Popping PPP Poll Result To Further Fuel 'Hillary Clinton 2016' Hype "

...
PPP's newest Texas poll finds that, at least for now, Hillary Clinton could win the state in 2016. This follows on the heels of a survey last month where we found she would have a decent chance of winning Kentucky if she makes another White House bid.
UPDATE:

From what I can tell, long-distance, from the A-T blog, virtually EVERYTHING connected with any state or local government, education or economic development in Arkansas is either deliberately non-transparent (i.e., shady), crooked, rigged, impervious to rationality, religiously dictated or unconstitutional.
Saw this on bartcom and thought I would share it!

Churches Insist on Bigotry
"Hate gays or we cut your funding"
Link

The Boy Scouts say they are considering an end to their decades-long ban on gay members, leaving it to regional and local councils to discriminate if they wish.

The news was met with cheers from scouts who have been banned after coming out, but many religious bigots are angry about what they see as the organization abandoning its long-standing
commitment to hating those damn faggots.

"If they stop bashing gays, it will be a sad day for the Boy Scouts,” said Fred Luter, of the Southern Baptist Convention. “Hating faggots os a tradition we grew up in. The Boy Scouts always stood for hating faggots. To now see them give in to Christ's "Love thy neighbor" bullshit is very disappointing.”

About 70 percent of all Boy Scout troops are sponsored by the religiously-insane, with the Southern Baptists, the child-raping Catholics, Lutherans and Methodists representing the most troops and many are suggesting they will break financial ties with the Scouts is gay-bashing is discontinued.

Because it is hate-based, organized religion is dying like the Republican party. The future is about inclusion and they can't see that. They can only see the hateful policies and traditions of the past.

Cool, do you realize that your insults render anything else that you might say, whether it has any merit or not, as something to ignore. You know, after the first sentence, your post is reasonable. I heard a story on NPR this afternoon about guns in Chicago, the murder capital of the country right now, which made much the same point--that old guns, most of them with the serial numbers filed off, traded, sold and stolen, were the biggest part of the problem. But, when you call AI stupid, no one on this blog is going to read any further. By the way, talking about stupid, the genie that lives in a bottle is not the same "jeannie" that was the character on the TV show. And if you are going to talk about the Second Amendment, proper respect and grammar would dictate that it be capitalized

Artificial - I would not say intelligence but stupidity.

Look - Guns are everywhere just like the air. Even if you stopped making them there would be enough for many decades if not a 100 years. The jeannie is out of the bottle now.

So the question is how do you deal with that? I would love to live in a gun free world.....sign me up! However, that will never occur so don't mess with the second amendment.

What is the solution? Whatever you or anyone else says please begin with how to stop the bad guys from getting a gun first.

You can even post our very own FBI statistics on American homicides and my friends will not see that we live in an incredibly violent country. And as for that Alabama football coach, Michelle Obama is probably the most fit person to ever occupy the White House. I know she would out perform that slime ball on just about any metric for physical fitness. Her body type is not an indication of fatness.
I just heard on Hardball that the latest wingnut story making the rounds is that President Obama is going to raze Ronald Reagan's childhood home to make room for his presidential library. I keep thinking we have reached peak wingnut but they keep raising the bar.

Guest speaker: Dr. Martin Tresguerres, Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Our February guest speaker is Dr. Martin Tresguerres, assistant professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego. He'll shed some light on global warming's evil twin - ocean acidification, which could lead to a collapse of the marine food chain if left unchecked. Dr. Tresguerres is currently working with a four-year grant from the National Science Foundation to study the effect of ocean acidification on coral. He'll share some preliminary findings from that study.

Lunch is provided but the Center appreciates any and all who contribute some potluck. Mostly it's vegetarian.
Applebee's fires waitress for exposing the "What Would Jerks for Jesus Do?" jerk (though she thought the pastor's identity was "obscured).
Pastor demands EVERYBODY, including mangers, be fired. So Applebee's fires the waitress.
You're not supposed to know the pastor's name or where it took place.
So the article helpfully links to The Smoking Gun, which tells you (with a link within the link where pastor tries to walk it back).
