Citizen1 - we'll continue to embrace defeat until the defeated become the minority. I welcome (legal) immigration by all races and creeds, it's the one thing that keeps Arkansas from becoming more insular and wretched.

Also, Fukushima's radiation and contamination means they've been (equivalently) nuked a third time. But they're dealing with it...

Have ANY states of our late, unlamented Confederacy managed to dust themselves off and excel, or have they all, to one extent or another, continued to piss and moan and embrace the same mindset that caused the war and their defeat in the first place?

The most successful states in the south are the two that were least invaded, Texas & Florida who had already leavened their southern mores with some cultural yeast (Gasp! immigration again...) from elsewhere before The Recent Unpleasantness. Shouldn't we strive to be more like them than Thank God For Mississippi?

      Spunk

To regurgitate something I saw in passing here about a year ago.

The South got beat by the North in the "Recent Unpleasantries" but instead of dusting off and going on, the South has kept losing for 150 years!

Yes Sherman cut a path of destruction in his march to the sea and aptly got a tank named after him.

Big deal! Get over it!

Germany was spanked by half the countries on Earth, bombed to rubble, carved up like a pizza.

Less than 20 years later the Volkswagen was sold in America. 40 years later and Mercedes is the way to PROOVE YOU HAVE ACHEIVED THE AMERICAN DREAM! The Lucky Sperm Club kids get a Beemer for graduating high school. Want to show you are a successful and cool lawyer, pull up to valet parking at the club in a Porshe.

Japan was driven off the Asian Continent, cleansed from the Pacific and NUKED at HOME. Not just once BUT TWICE.

By late 60's Toyotas have a dealer network across America!

Short of the pickup or minivan market Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Acura, Suzuki, Subaru, Lexus.... dominate the world in cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators, 4 wheelers, ....

After the Christmas 12 Blizzard neighbors all touted their Honda generators! "My that Briggs & Stratton sure is loud! Can't even hear my Honda run!"

From my perch at my computer as the sun rises I can see a BMW convertible, Subaru stationwagon, Toyota Element, ....

Bad thing is I can only view 3 houses across the street from my chair.

Let's all just search our brains and guess if someone in Dresden or Nagasaki can search their whole town and view a vehicle designed and built in the American South.

DOUBT IT!

Our motto should be;

"The South, bringing you defeat for over 150 years!

I know Nader Asfordeh's parents and I know their story.

In 1979 Iran became a very scary place for the families of anyone who had worked in the Shah's government, no matter how low a functionary they might have been. For those higher up, death was a very real possibility. Couple that with Western values, and it was a recipe for torture before death. Yes, they got out, with wings on their feet, first to Europe and then here.

Extremism is bad, no matter what brand.

Thing is, I'd put money on Jason Rapert thinking he's not all that extremist. He probably thinks he's mainstream. In the majority, even.

Dear Rapert, everything on the internet is not true, but like Humpty Dumpty, maroon, once you post it, you can never pull it all back.
Dear Gearhart, Thanks for showing alumni and the rest of the state that U of Fayettevile official maroons feel just as empowered as UCA official maroons to spend funds in any way they wish without public oversight.
Just remember believing you are above public oversight will not answer the question "What happened to the 3.37 million dollars, Chancellor?" When the legislature is holding hearings to determine funding.
Sad about the SEAL. I thank him for his service. I have two thoughts about his murder:

1. He was terribly naive, just like a lot of gun enthusiasts, to think that taking a damaged vet to a gun range was a good idea.

2. The gun-porn culture is out of control: This American hero (self-promoter or pawn?) was running gun camps for wannabe snipers/patriots/counter-insurgents/Texas survivors. Or was the 'American Sniper' course marketed as tips for outdoorsmen?

If you're a gun owner secretly hoping for the chance to test your marksmanship when your property (manhood) is threatened by another human, you are the problem. Just saying.

The good guys aren't the problem.

I have never seen a rattlesnake on my place, just black snakes, striped ones, and a tiny copperhead once. All were left unmolested by me. I think I would leave this rattlesnake unmolested as well. I'm not generally afraid of snakes, but that one would scare me. I bet it had just finished a meal if it weighed that much.

What I wish supporters of Rapert and even other far right Republicans would do, is explain what their mindset has done for Arkansas since the 1890's.

Let me explain. In those days, the right wing was in the Democratic Party. Now they're in the Republican Party. So in Arkansas, there's this mindset of regression, refusing to embrace new ideas, new technologies, new and different ANYTHING, and it's not just Republican it's also in the Democratic Party to some extent.

So, I hope some of the "God, Guns and Gays" people will kindly take time to explain to ME, how their ideas and mindsets have propelled Arkansas forward over the last 120 years.

Explain how Arkansas is on the cutting edge of technology or, cutting edge in healthcare all BECAUSE we're for guns, overly pro God, and hate gay people. Explain how our people have some of the best benefits in the entire United States or, how we're respected the world over for research and industry because we hate Gay people, shove God down the throats of Conway kids, and stockpile weapons. Explain how Arkansas is a leader in clean fuel or, how we lead the nation in white collar jobs because we try and force everyone to be a Baptist, eat at Chik-Fil-ay, or run gay people off the road.

There is SO much wrong with what you people do to this state with your pre twentieth century belief system. It hurts YOU and your KIDS. And you will stand there with a straight face and say YOUR way is the right one, while the rest of the nation moves on--higher salaries, nicer houses, better benefits, world class colleges and universities and healthcare.

And you're just hoping for a housetrailer "that don't leak." But by heaven you have your gun, you give money to that preacher (who has a better house, better car, better clothes, than you), and you burned those poor gay people out two trailers down.

You see, the Nation treats Arkansas like a ghetto neighborhood in a big city. In a big city, those neighborhoods are ignored, and development simply goes around it, leaving the people there to fight, drink, use drugs, etc., while the rest of the city moves on. We are a donut hole ghetto in the middle of a prosperous nation, largely because some of you people refuse to embrace just a FEW more forward and progressive ideas.

Until you people THINK, our better way of life will continue to go to large cities in Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, etc. And all industry will see of Arkansas is "they're still about God, Guns, and Gays. Where else can we send our people?"

But at least you got that leak fixed.

I noticed Rapert deleted all the comments off his page that weren't praising him and his position. Then today, I noticed the whole page was gone. I had posted something yesterday that was respectful but I just stated my position, which was obviously opposite of what he believed. I guess we need to publish his home or cell phone number, and publish that on Maddow or something - possibly even his address. He'll really feel the heat then.

Having a bad day, Norma? Tomorrow will be better, sort of like Arkansas weather.

Anyone notice how dangerous it is on our main streets? Tree refuse on sidewalks has forced the joggers into the traffic. I know it's a big job, but please clear the heavy traffic areas first. If it's too big a job for the city crews, hire some temps. That's what businesses do. Maybe some of the homeless could use some pocket change. Don't wait for someone to be hurt. Check out where school children walk also.

My name is Norma and I’m not getting enough attention on this blog so Dislike me now.

Karl Rove and his chins are trying to get rid of Tea Baggers running for spots on GOP tickets because the right’s tanking Big Time and the Dislike button is on your lower right and you haven’t answered my question.

I am tired of all the love and Likes I’m always getting. Negative strokes are moi starting RIGHT NOW. Click Dislike and seriously destroy my self esteem and make me feel terrible especially if you live in Conway or Searcy or eat at Cracker Barrel or own a semi-automatic or all three. And answer my question!

T-P Jason Rapert’s house so he can report more “death threats” or do something more stupider and the reason you haven’t answered my question is because you can’t and you won’t and you’re an idiot or something. Or maybe “your” an idiot will do it. (See lower right for Dislike button.)

Everybody should have their guns taken away by anti-gay opposite-couple bakers who won’t sell wedding cakes to lesbians because they’re abominations, or maybe “their” abominations, and are going to be sued because, public accommodations. So Dislike me. Please.

My name is Norma and I love to see myself rant on blogs and get Disliked. I emailed 38 Congressmen one time. They didn’t answer my question! Hah! (Down there on the right. Do it now!)

Sarah Palin was the best half-term governor dropout who was a beauty pageant runner-up to ever run for POTUS from Alaska whose male loved ones all start with T. If she wasn’t unemployed she would go rogue and Dislike me because SHE CAN’T ANSWER MY QUESTION!

So would Mike Huckabee if he stopped stuffing tacos and carrot cake in his pie hole and wondering how come he can never get all the sand out of his you-know-what since he hasn’t been on a beach since the kids left home and Janet too, so who exactly keeps tracking that shit into the house and why aren’t Speedos banned in Destin? He would Dislike me too if there wasn’t icing all over the keyboard and nothing would make me happier, but – wait for it -- he won’t answer my question!

It doesn’t matter what I blather as long as I fill space and you get my name is Norma and hit Dislike, plus call your friends and tell them to come over here and do it too.

Plus WM3 and Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve and Waltons and Kochs and Mark Pryor and Hussman and the Chamber of Commerce and Tim Griffin and Tom Cotton and trolls and troll-lovers who feed ‘em and diddly-squat is what I don’t give for all that.

Who wants to start a prayer group in the cafeteria to revitalize a Tech Park and visit America’s Bridge for the lighting ceremony, yada, yada? Awesome!

I mean it. I’m not telling you twice. Or twiced or whatever. It’s the red button down yonder on the right. Does THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION?
