Just like the not tech not park ponzi scheme... funding these grifts with bond finance is a losing proposition/looting of taxpayers. A promise of a finance/loss, with no stock/possibility of return is just plain stupid looting.

We the people should invest tax revenues in areas the corporate world seems entirely unwilling to do for the public good... certainly not at the cost or speed we need to do it. Bury electric lines, establish/bury gigabit fiber internet to every home in the state... implement green grid and power supply infrastructure, establish modern public transit, keep our water supplies clean and safe from those developers who want to poop in it for profit, etc.

All of this is about the one percent. We shouldn't finance them at 350k per job so they can just keep on looting. Say hell no to neoliberalism!

Did the state throw some of the state "socialism" at the other two steel companies up there? If not, the state is putting them at a disadvantage by supporting the new company. Maybe, they will decide that they might move across the river, after all, it's the same river and there are train tracks between the levee and highway 61 and highway 61 and I-55 are not that far away. How much will that cost us? If there are no new customers created to buy the steel, the available market just got smaller on average for everyone (x amount/n plants is > than x amount/n+1 plants).

Pygface, it won't work that way. When I worked at Maverick, half of the guys on my shift lived in Tennessee or Missouri. I wil be curious to see which bold Democrat or Republican votes against this sham scam shakedown. We need the jobs, but we don't need empty promises and wallets either. I dearly hope no upfront seed money is given to Correnti by the Teachers Union.

I, for one, am glad this steel mill isn't going to be in central Arkansas for several reasons:

1) northeast Arkansas needs the jobs much more than central Arkansas does

2) we don't need any more air pollution in central Arkansas

That said, I still think private individuals getting handouts with taxpayer dollars is nothing more than a massive shakedown the Mafia would be proud of. Corporate Amerika, including the Kochs, have devised a self-serving system that we the people get to pay for. What a bad deal- for us, not them!
