Our legislature is a joke....They are wasting taxpayers money on arguing about transvaginal devices and our next door neighbors and nearest competitor, state of Tennessee is arguing about making the no state income tax as becoming a part of the state constitution. People need to tell Jason Rapert etal to get off the pot and get busy working to make our state more competitive with Tennessee!!!!!!

With the average part time job an employee can expect to have his social security matched, no other benefits. Why do legislators have such a beneficiant difference? It is certainly not because they do the taxpayers work. This legislature's only accomplishment is to prove they are kooks.

Max, this is another place for the group that is suing the state to concentrate on. Also, that question above as to whether legislative coverage covers abortions might make interesting headlines.

BTW, great cover this week!

Also, I don't think the state Constitution mentions double year credit for their service in the lege. In fact, I bet, the state Constitution doesn't require pensions for the lege at all. If they want a pension, get a 40-hour a week job with all of the standard perks the workers in the Capitol get which doesn't include free steaks at night at Sonny Williams by people doing business with the state.

Ask 'em all. There's no excuse for legislators not to report whether they participate in the taxpayer funded health insurance program.

It's not a partisan issue: there have always been shameless hypocrites, and Max has routinely, pointlessly?, tried to shame them, regardless of party. It's just that all these new Rs and their fans aren't used to the heat.

It ain't personal folks: nobody made you run for office, but a big part of public service is doing your business publicly. Or should be. I seem to recall that Nick Wilson was a D, and even a progressive one.

France had Jeanne d'Arc, a simple peasant girl with a hotline to the Divine who led armies to many important touchdowns, er, wins, during the 100 Years' War.

Arkansas has Max de la Roche, a simple peasant dude who's pretty much doing the same thing only saner, minus needless claims of Divine Dialogue: waging war and fighting the Good Fight from behind his desk, in print and online.

Thrilling!

I've long known that the REAL Max (and the lovely Judge) are ensconced in a luxurious safe house in Cleveland, enjoying the cuisines of many nations and endless mall and outlet shopping.

What you THINK are the "Brantleys" are actually alien replicants from another world with vastly superior intelligence. Hence those endless "vacations" and glamour cruises around the world. Hah! (Fact? They and other highly placed replicants are collected periodically on those excursions for microchip and OS upgrades by visitors from the Mother Ship.)

It takes a brave replicant to crusade in a never-ending battle for Truth, Justice and the American Way, not to mention the Constitution and Bill of Rights, risking exposure at every turn.

Someday they will write stories and plays about him. Statues will be erected.

There will be a Max of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs.

Trust Norma.

Max, you are absolutely correct. This is wrong. It is an abuse of taxpayer money and is an indirect form of compensation. It is hard to purchase insurance. I cant say that I blame them for taking advantage of what has been offered. However, for them to deny others a similar opportunity to access insurance is hypocritical, unethical and just plain wrong.

It's bad brain wiring that makes people bitch and try to deny other people the same things they so readily suck up. I'm far from the best person on earth but common sense or Ma speaking to me from the grave prevents me from damning other people for doing the exact same things I do or get or want.

And what explains very rich people with more money than they can ever spend, spending so much time worrying about their maid....THEIR MAID getting some kind of free ride? Is there a MAID on earth who lives in the lap of luxury? Would anyone like to trade lives with THEIR MAID? Hmmm....my imagined MAID looks like Beyonce and dusts in the nude, just for the record. I'll have to work hard to imagine what kind of benefits she's lapping up......Come here, girl....dust my lap!

Then you got people like Dustin Harris, wait..make that Justin who publicly game the system and NOTHING happens. I'm pretty sure the boom would be lowered on my head if I tried to screw the state of Arkansas....been here since 1961 and I've not managed to sneak anything past them yet.

HHW and I lit up a restaurant yesterday loudly discussing these people with bad brain wiring and how there's no end to their taking...which I could live with if they didn't turn around and bash poor people doing the exact same thing because they have no other choices to sustain their lives in miserable circumstances.

We've got 2 horrible years ahead of us now that our state legislature is controlled by the people with bad brain wiring voted into office by voters clearing not using any brain wiring at all. We can save a lot of time by just assuming that anything our Republicans accuse others of sucking up....they're sucking up too.

With nothing but his legacy to worry about, I hope Gov. Beebe wears out his Veto Pen protecting us from bills introduced by the bad brain wiring crowd. If he doesn't it will show us the true Mike Beebe and I don't even want to think we've been snookered all these years. Does he really want to go out nicknamed Governor Ultra Sound 2? Don't be a Mark Pryor Democrat at this late date, sir.
