The scientifically illiterate will claim this refutes global warming because they don't understand that increasing ocean temperatures leads to increasing moisture in the air which comes down in the form of snow or rain, depending on the season.
cbb...thank you for the update with the wonderful news about the little ones. It sounds like a fun thing to watch. I hope you are recovering quickly from your surgery so you can be among them.

eL, nvr, hhw and goof.....thank you so much for the birthday wishes. When I finally got on the blog last night, I was reading the most recent threads first, so I hadn't found your kind notes yet when I was posted the above. Sorry for my deliquent acknowledgement, and I am most grateful for your kind words.
And to sound policy's post on Thursday night:
"(NotSo) Coolbreeze- and I've hit more home runs in major league baseball than any other man alive."

My hubby tells me that we have Barry Bonds here on the blog. But had you not been specific about "MLB" then it would mean you are Sadaharu Oh who has Barry beat with 868. Either way, he sends his regards.

mountaingirl, the lamb count is up to 12 and all are now in what I call the "momma pen" with their moms and the injured ram from the dog attack a year ago (who is well and has an attitude). The lambs are starting to play follow-the-leader and Tiny, the farm dog, runs along the outside of the fence with them, barking and encouraging them to run some more. More pregnant ewes but all of the first wave are together and really growing. A few are already eating some corn and hay in addition to actively nursing.

BTW, a few years ago we sent a video of the lamb running in the snow with Tiny running along the other side of the fence in the snow, barking as they ran and Craig O'Neil, who knows how to pronounce our name since he went to Hall High with one of my brothers, mis-pronounced our name and then said the dog was attacking the lambs. City folks!!

It is steadily getting worse and worse. It's worth remembering what ANOTHER less quoted Founding Father, Samuel Adams, once wrote.

"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."

"North Carolina Moves to Toss Out Regulators"

The North Carolina state senate has approved a bill to fire all the members of the states' regulatory bodies, including all the members of the Utilities Commission, the Coastal Resources Commission, the Environmental Management Commission, and the Wildlife Resources Commission.

The bill, which would affect 131 regulators, will now be considered in the state house. Dumping all the current members of the commissions would allow the newly instated Republican governor, Pat McCrory, to replace them. The Charlotte Observer has more on the plan. As you might imagine, Democrats are livid...
Heartbreaking (and as a woman incredibly chilling) Twitter feed of a Doctor who had to force a teenager to deliver her dead baby because there was no Drs. available who could perform a therapeutic abortion on a dead fetus.

https://twitter.com/DrJaneChi

"At noon, I got a call from my hospital. A teenage prenatal patient of mine was there. 21 weeks along. Bleeding, with pain. I ordered an ultrasound. It turned out there wasn't major bleeding... but her amniotic sac had ruptured. No fluid left at all.
So, a teenager w/a "late," but not viable, fetus that cannot survive. After rupture, delivery will occur, and/or infection. Think Savita.
2 treatment options: 1, induce labor; 2, operative dilation & evacuation. In other words, an abortion.
No one at my hospital is able to do a D&E. Bc you have to do a bunch to be good, no one can do it who didn't opt in to abortion training."

*I want to stop there. A hospital in an AMERICAN city that has NO ONE who could do a D&E. This is what is wrought by bastards like Rapert and Mayberry and SalineR. This is the fault of women like Lila Rose.*

"So. I call the nearest academic hospital. They tell me the next time an appropriately trained Dr is available is 4 days away. I call another academic hospital. Same story: most of their docs aren't trained. Only one is, & s/he is only there 2 days a week. So there I am, w/a teenager w/a doomed fetus, crying from grief & pain,& I tell her, there is no doctor who can do your surgery for 4 days.
So I have to tell her, after that grief & pain, she has to labor & birth a dying fetus. ALL BC NO ONE IS WILLING TO DO ABORTION TRAINING."

So basically the girl was forced to go though labor (and fuck you if you think it is no big deal to go though labor to push out a dead baby. Fuck you.) and deliver a dead baby. A trauma she would NOT have had to endure if there had been a Doctor (in a city with fairly liberal abortion laws) who could perform an abortion. A delivery that put her life at greater risk.

You pro-life forced birth zelouts out there think it is GREAT there are less and less Doctors who perform abortions, but there is a reason we need them. I bet some of you are even thinking the slut got exactly what she deserved. I am livid. I pray to God that if at my advanced age I end up pregnant that there will be a Doctor in Little Rock who can perform an abortion.

God save American women from American Christians like Rapert and Mayberry and SalineR.

Drones are capable of highly advanced and, in some cases, almost constant surveillance, and they can amass large amounts of data. Even the smallest drones can carry a host of surveillance equipment, from video cameras and thermal imaging to GPS tracking and cellphone eavesdropping tools. They can also be equipped with advanced forms of radar detection, license plate cameras, and facial recognition. And, as recent reporting from PBS and Slate shows, surveillance tools, like the military’s development of gigapixel technology capable of “tracking people and vehicles across an entire city,” are improving rapidly.
There's a minor error on the interactive drone map that follows - the dot is on LR, not NLR. (Click on hyperlink in the third paragraph of the article). It's hard to convince some feds that Dogtown is a separate city and not just north LR.
All men are pigs. This we know (except the A-T staff, a few bloggers here, my agent and Bradley Cooper). Good for one thing only: money.

As they get older, some revert to being boys again. Which can be delightful.

If you have your own money and don't have to live with them because, pigs.

Here's one from Canada who's in his 80s. Every year he visits the Washington State International Kite Festival.

I've never been because, full plate. But inside his baked potato skin is the heart of a poetic Peter Pan.

You won't believe what he does, flying three kites simultaneously. And stick around for the landings at the end.

"Romancing the Wind."

If dude had money I'd move to Winnipeg tomorrow except, pigs.

Next time somebody tells you to go fly a kite, you'll remember . . .
