But I'll pull the covers over my head and go back to sleep. Maybe when I get up this afternoon, my ability to comprehend will be back home.

Jabberwocky, Pygface, Dott et al: While some might think I need a seatbelt or a breathalyzer, I can assure you that idea is anything farther from the truth of how I know ard realize my realities. I take the comments in stride for I have to date one of the more spiritual journeys any human could have. I would offer you a shot of Bastille and tell you of the story of how a funny uncle who grew up in Monticello gave us chillin's a rabbit trap that would be placed in the woods below our house on Oak street. The device would make a guillotine look like a snadbox. I also raised rabbits as a youth until either a stray dog or beast got to them during the early morning.

From a agri extension service perspective a city has disturbed soils, in part due to the complexities of how different professions are realized. Often the city runs away from addressing the social pathologies (see Ian McHarg's Design with Nature) and realize that the data he drew from was heavily skewed becasue certain illnesses do not show up in public data.

But from the computer, the energy alnalytics are not what they could be because data is not profound knowledge. If anything, while I appreciate the kind offer to spend up to 8 hours testing the software, the reality is that already I spend much time trying to offer comments where possible with the hope that maybe a few people or really the Arkansas psyche will wake up to address the issues in a healthier manner. I have given in the past the basic article to the leadership but perhaps was considered too abstract or as you gently put it, would seem to have fallen off the wagon.

The better point though is to share with you how in taking 3-D and 4-D art classes, in the sculpture of clay and animation, I would think back to the space that Henry Moore's work would occupy in Little Rock. Just know that no 3-D design software could have realized that expression. Perhaps we can realize the essence of a fluxuus animation/Cage sort of event in at scale in due time?

The concept sketch looks as if it is done in Sketchup, a 3D modeling program by Trimble Navigation. The colors shown are two of the default settings of the software. That may be the reason for the cartoonish look and colors. It is a quick program to work out and visualize 3D designs.

Anyone can download the program and try it for 8 hours at http://www.sketchup.com/download/. Why don't you try it and show us how yours would be better. You can do several versions in 8 hours of use time.

It sounds like the committee doesn't have a focused vision of what they want and where they want it. From all the steps and missteps it's like they hope through all this mess they miraculously resolve this for the betterment of the city. I'm not sure that's why they are doing this, but I would suggest a week off for all and give them training in successful strategies to utilize to help focus and create an environment that would be conducive to resolving this in a positive way. But, hey, they are human and I'm sure egos are flying hither and thither.

I haven't heard about there being brownfields, but if so, big deal. There are funds to mitigate. And yes, it's somewhat timely but that shouldn't really be an issue. And if there is a brownfield, why not use this these sales tax funds to make the site development ready. Win-win, even if the thing is a bad idea overall.

Look again honey child! For when business really understands, they will bring the money home. What good is to live in the "Ark" and disrupt the need for the right to peacefully assemble products, goods and services? Instead of pecan shells, just substitute from acorns from North and South Oak, or some Pine Needles, from North and South Pine. I'm told the acid from the needles is quite helpful to the blueberries, if the extension can only engineer some of them. Or try some muscadines rather than kudzu. Ka peach!

I don't think the tech park is going to lift off. I do applaud the efforts of the city though to try to attract more industries. And I think downtown, to the East is the best choice. I'm still a newbie to the city (well not really, living here 10 years now) but it's not my hometown. I find that those that have lived here their entire lives don't seem to see what I do in this city, and why I moved here. It is possible it could work, but I'm not certain why it is a priority. Conway seems to be the 'choice' for tech, and I'd love to take that away from them (nothing against Conway - but it's a long commute).

As time goes on.. and the revenue stream from the regressive sales tax builds up... it would seem that the very least the City of LR could do is make sure they don't waste many millions on bonds. Don't finance any of this, not tech, not park giveaway to a few aristocrats.. either spend all of what you have now or make them wait until revenues from the dedicated tax build up enough to do so.

Don't add insulting looting to injurious looting.

ANd if you insist upon financing... make sure all of that is paid in full with this tax... don't use this to set up one of those false cliffs later so you can scare people into renewing this regressive tax again.

Ya know that whole, big, formerly-industrial-now-largely-abandoned swath of real estate that sits between the eastern edge of downtown (SE of Clinton/Heifer) and west of the current Bond St. all the way to the airport and Roosevelt Road??? Re-imagine it, slowly but surely being the new "front porch" of our city to visitors coming into HillBilly National Airport, and riding our LitRail along it's segmented construction where the CURRENT Bond St. exists.

The only thing people don’t want to admit with the downtown site is the Brown Field ground pollution. The Crafton Tull sites’ report doesn’t touch the issue. My sources tell me that they were directed to stay away for the subject. Notice in their report the statement “Environmental issues will need to be address by other.” The Clinton Library spend over $1.5 million to deal with their ground pollution, it will cost even more for the Collins Street site.

If one looks at where "tech parks" actually live up to their billing, they're not in locales with regressive politics, cultures and relatively uneducated and untrained workforces.

"You reap what you sow," is as true for cities and states as for individuals.

Just from what's been posted on this blog, from the get-go, this project has always and still does smack of a boondoggle that will profit its developers and their champions and nobody else.

Least of all truly "high tech" enterprises that won't be drawn to right-wing fundamentalist Tea Party climates such as yours. They don't have to perform much due-diligence: just pick up any national newspaper or visit any news site online to read all about how WalMart treats its employees and your politicians treat your women, children, gays, blacks, immigrants, the poor, the uneducated, et al.

Is there any short-term solution?

Frankly, no.

Arkansas has been too long building to its present sad, even tragic, craziness to reverse course anytime soon.

Building one or more empty 'tech park' buildings downtown makes more sense that on a site displacing hundreds of middle- and lower-income Little Rock families. At least down there we are only wasting millions of dollars instead of also disrupting hundreds of lives.

The Chamber of Commerce types will be disappointed they didn't get to mess with so many of the 99%. But they will have plenty of other opportunities to do so in the future.

And why is there even a future, if poor design results in many wasted lives, rejection of better ideas, planners, etc?
