Poor Sen. Marco Rubio. Who knew that Ted "Machine-gun" Nugent, the has-been chickenhawk rock star, would be on hand as a guest to advise Republican Rep. Steve Stockman on tweeting during President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech Tuesday? Nugent will "be available" for interviews after the speech, Stockman stated in a press release, no doubt giving the senator from Florida a run for his money in attracting the media."
An old, draft-dodging, dope-smoking, long-haired hippie advising Republicans. How poetic.
The economy has been growing since Obama began his Stimulus programs and hasn't quit growing. Housing starts are up 36% over 2009, the yr he took office. The DJIA is up to higher than when he took office, higher than it was under Bush.

Outlier, Saline cannot deal in facts. I suppose, like Lite Gov Darr, someone else is watching the dough at his broom and squeegee shop. I wouldn't trust him with it.

Outlier, you think Obama is turning the economy around, but we are heading to Greece!!! The European welfare states have been praised on this blog for years and now you are getting your way as we head down that road.
On Sept 1, 2012 Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute wrote:
I wrote yesterday that the United Kingdom is doomed because there isn’t a political party with the vision or courage to restrain the welfare state.

At various points, I’ve also expressed pessimism about the future of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and even the United States.

Simply stated, almost all western nations suffer from the same toxic combination of dependency, demographic decline, and poorly structured entitlement programs.
Wow, you would think that the US House wouldn't have been so "LIBERRAL" as to vote a tax increase every 3 months. Oh, never happened?-just another Republican LIE! Not misspoken since it is obvious a Frank Lunz talking point, spread by FAUX and SLUDGE, so everyone is on message. Must be nice to have your own TV network where the truth doesn't matter. They are an entertainmemnt cvhannel because even their Sunday talk shows are comedy.

And Cotton for VP, it is time for him to rbe recalled to active duty because he was so damn brave always running into the fire to show everyone else how it is done. Maybe start with Syria since the Tea Pot brains want someone, certainly not any of them, to go and start another war because MIC profits are down.

Saline, what don't you understand about an economy in free fall which is what President Obama had on his plate from day one. We were losing 700,000 jobs a month. Could that have something to do with an increase in welfare and food stamp spending?

I can't remember how long it took to get the job growth onto the positive side. It didn't happen over night and could NOT have happened over night.

The U.S. economy is like a fully loaded oil tanker. It takes 5.5 miles to bring one to a full stop and I don't know how many miles to turn it around.

Expecting instantaneous results is moronic. Have there been missteps? Yes. It's hard not to make missteps in uncharted waters.

I shudder to think where we would be today with McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan at the helm. For sure we would be at war in other places. For sure the pain and suffering of little folks would be a whole lot worse. For sure the rich would be even richer than they are under present conditions.

Not enough is being done about income disparities. Not enough is being done on the health care issue. A whole lot more IS being done than the party of the rich would do.

Max you are wrong about Tom Cotton’s accusation concerning the rise of welfare spending under President Obama. Actually welfare spending has been increasing for the last 12 years and Obama did nothing during his first four years to slow down the rate of increase of welfare spending. BUSH WAS JUST AS GUILTY AS OBAMA IN THIS AREA AND I AM THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT.

Rachel Sheffield of the Heritage Foundation has noted:

The number of Americans on food stamps (or, as it is now called, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP) is higher than ever before, according to a new Congressional Budget Office report. Since 2007, rolls have grown by 70 percent. And participation rates are expected to increase over the next two years.

While some of the growth can be attributed to the recession, participation rates were steadily climbing prior to the recession. Since 2000, the number of Americans on food stamps has jumped by roughly 260 percent, from 17.2 million to 44.7 million in 2011.

Naturally, government spending on food stamps has also jumped, from approximately $20 billion in 2000 to a whopping $78 billion last year, a nearly 400 percent increase.

DAN MITCHELL’S BLOG HAS A GREAT CARTOON THAT SHOWS WHAT EVENTUALLY WILL HAPPEN IF THE GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO INCREASE THE WELFARE STATE!!!
So once again in national news cycles, the subliminal associations for millions of readers / viewers is:

Arkansas = Tom Cotton = ideological war = rigid = impervious = ideology = obedience = eternal laws = Almighty God = goat = intransigence

And that's just in the above two paragraphs.

Repeat ad infinitum in almost daily news cycles lately, to yield:

Arkansas = Mike Huckabee = ban on abortion = war on women = family values = pro-life = transvaginal probe = heartbeat bill = rural = poverty = guns in church = charter schools = Waltons = Kochs = Tea Party = lies

Do Arkansas's would-be economic and political movers and shakers get the picture yet?

Do they even care?

Do voters?
