Late last year the FDA quietly took a major step toward approving
AquaBounty's "frankenfish" genetically modified salmon.

Its approval would be a radical move by the FDA - the first genetically
modified animal ever to enter our food supply. It's no wonder the FDA
posted its final review, clearing the way for approval, on the Friday
before the Christmas holiday, when few people would notice.

The FDA is now taking public comments on its study, which is expected to
lead to approval of the frankenfish. This is our last chance to keep GMO
salmon off our grocery store shelves, and stop the dangerous trend of
introducing GM animals into our food supply.

Tell the FDA: Don't approve GMO Salmon. Submit a public comment now.

We headed to Huntsville (Madison Co.) to visit a great chiropractor for sweetie's shoulder which has been in pain since she caught a falling 450 lb patient a few months ago. She's damn near well! There were several loud "pops" heard and then a pleasant "ah."

In the open waiting room we heard from a local logger that they couldn't get any more lumbering rights to Ozarks-U.S. forests because H.Clinton and Obama had mortgaged our forests to China for more loans. What can you say to something like that except "goodness that's a lot of forest land." Reality is the opposite. U.S. is urging China not to level its forests because Earth needs the oxygen and heat absorption. But, hey! they gots high speed internets in Madison County now so rumors become truth overnight.

Then we ventured South to Kingston, stopped at the town cafe had a late, light lunch with homemade banana pudding. Nothing exceptional but we were hungry.

Next down to Ponca where we gazed on two herds of elk and drove beside the Buffalo River for a mile or two. Like a lost paradise just re discovered. both of us had been in Ponca several times before but not in the past 10 yrs. A few new Jesus settlements have sprung up between Kingston and Ponca but the elk don't mind and neither did a pair of nesting swans in the large beaver pond.

From 21S we took highway 103N while the snow and rain came in sheets. Nice to have an all-wheel drive. Very dramatic in those sharply rising hills. We arrived at Osage just at dark.

The old, historic general store at Osage (Highway 412&103) was still open. It's a potter's shop now. Found neat apple cooking bowls for sweetie's Valentine's day at least that was my offer, those lovely individual apple cook n' serve potter bowls or roses?
She chose the bowls. They have a stem protruding up into the center of the oven-proof bowl to hold the apple and transfer heat, makes cooking easier and faster and provides an attractive serving dish to hold all the juices, butter and spices.

Arrived home just in time for SoU speech and Rubico's lying-denying rebuttal. Would be good for Repubs if Rubico could get his nervous twitches fixed. Opening shot of Rubico's pasted on smile was hilarious. For a second or two I thought SNL had aborted the Repub response.

The Pope is resigning! I guess he took that Notre Dame loss to Alabama a lot harder than people thought.

The Pope said he was stepping down at age 85 because he could no longer handle the job physically. To which Lance Armstrong said, "I've got some stuff that can help you with that."

The Pope said that at age 85 he cannot physically go on. Meanwhile, Hugh Hefner is going to be 87 and he just married a 26-year-old. So much for that celibate lifestyle!
