You may not have to wait long, James of the Plains, from what one hears. The LAST thing the Church wants are for these documents to be unsealed.

Turns out diehard dogmatic Pope Benedict is an even worse fraud than Mother Teresa (or recently debunked Cardinal Mahony here in the City of Angels) THOUGHT about being.

Of course, he and his will always claim Benedict thought he was "doing good" and "meant well." The same may be said for Hitler or anybody else, rendering the phrase meaningless and enabling. Which is why one only hears it used to defend bullies and tyrants.

For the few who remain uninformed about Mother Teresa, Christopher Hitchens blew that whole thing (including her fundamentalist hypocrisy) out of the water back in the day.

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_pol…

There are those who CAN'T WAIT for Benedict's iron curtain to finally crumble from decades of rust. Including tens of thousands of victims worldwide (starting with the 30,000 in Ireland alone).

Sis, You are spot on about how the party of Saline views sin. Abortion and homosexuality didn't make Moses' top ten, but adultery sure did.

And Jesus was unambiguous. If you divorced and remarried, you were an adulterer. If you married someone who was divorced, you were an adulterer.

The rate of divorce is a metric where Arkansas scores high. We are #2 after Nevada. The socialist commonwealth of Massachusetts comes in at #46.
Is our family values working? Maybe those commies from New England are coming down here to get their divorces to mess with our stats.

Julie Burkhart is working to bring abortion care back to Wichita.

Wichita, Kansas, has been without a local abortion provider since an anti-abortion extremist murdered Dr. George Tiller in his church in May 2009. Now, one of Tiller's former employees has bought his clinic and intends to reopen it this spring.

The Trust Women Foundation, led by former Tiller spokeswoman Julie Burkhart, purchased Tiller's old office last September. The group has raised most of the $1 million it will take to reopen the clinic, and Burkhart, 46, and her staff have been busy renovating the office and recruiting doctors. Burkhart is originally from northern Oklahoma. She worked with Tiller at the clinic for seven years, and had moved away from Wichita shortly before his murder. She has since moved back to reopen the clinic, which she and her colleagues plan to call South Wind Women's Center.
Not to rain on Leonard Cooper's parade, but he was a tad lucky in Final Jeopardy wagering $0 (no, he didn't have it in the bag mathematically).

Leonard is the coolest fellow on record to be on a game show, but his math was lacking in the 2-day final. He had $37,000 the second day, combined with $3,000 first day for a grand total of $40,000. The second-place guy had $19,000 the first day and $14,400 the second day (before Final Jeopardy) for a total of $33,400. He then wagered $7,000 in Final Jeopardy, which would've given him a grand total of $40,400 if he had guessed correctly, making him the winner since Leonard bet $0 and remained at $40,000.

Second-place dude guessed incorrectly (like Leonard), dropping him to $26,400 and in third place. Why was Leonard so sure he had won since other dude could've passed him by $7,400 if he had bet all his second-day winnings? I'm a Jeopardy nerd (I sometimes DVR the damn show) and was aghast that Leonard bet $0 in Final Jeopardy when the outcome wasn't certain and had he made such a bold claim? (i.e., I don't know the answer but I won first prize?)

Don't get me wrong. Leonard is a natural and a very smart young man. But, he gets way too much credit with a $0 bet in Final Jeopardy considering the outcome was far from over. I'm glad he didn't end up with egg on his face by miscalculating his math.

Well, Durango, the Hogs got their first road victory at Auburn tonight. I hope they turn a corner now (although Auburn basketball = 6th-grade tiddlywinks).
Baseball season should be fun considering Arkansas is a preseason No. 1 in most polls while my Commodores are a top-5 team. Want to get together to watch a
game? We can recreate that porn video you are dreaming about:)

I've been thinking about the Republican Arkansas Legislature and their anti-choice for women and pro-guns-in-the-church session. YES, this is exactly
what the 48th poorest state in the Union should be debating. We need more unwanted children on Medicaid and guns for those who have an IQ of 60. Yep, that's Arkansas!

I've also been thinking about that Senile Republican man from Benton who chimes in on every abortion thread and spars with Outlier. Good lord! Outlier, he's not
fit to lick your boots. It's like watching Pythagoras debate Noah. Honestly, who wins?

Isn't it funny how heterosexual, "Christian'' men claim the biggest "sins'' on earth are abortion and homosexuality? They can't get pregnant and are straight so the two worst "sins'' don't affect them.

Adultery? Oh, that's fine. That happens from time to time and it's normal. We should never legislate that adulterers be criminals, although the Bible says
differently.

Divorce? Oh, that's fine. Marriage is sacred, though it could be for multiple women/men. Jesus went on and on about that, but we can skip that.

Cutting one's hair? Oh, that's outdated stuff. It doesn't apply today.

Eating shrimp? That's just silly. Shrimp are delicious! Captain D's is the bomb!

My goal is for the Raperts and Seniles of the world to be consistent! If it affects them personally, it's merely a transgression (whatever that means). If it doesn't, it's a SIN and by God, must be legislated as such. God help us:)

Hugs to Verla and eL, I want to see you both on this blog for the next 20 years.
Jim, Art Hobson is still going strong and fit as any 40 yr old. Think he's pushing 80, still rides his bike, plays a mean saxophone and dances with his lovely 45 yr old wife. He travels often, can't keep a Sagittarius at home for long. We were in a global warming workshop last summer together for an afternoon. Saw he and his wife at the movies last fall.

Ventured to Rogers tonight for our first visit to the new Cabela's. Picked up a pair of walking shoes.
godamighty do they have some guns 4 sale, and saw my first pair of
$3200 binoculars with switchable night vision,no-glare and non-fogging.Waterproof. I can live without that toy.

Great fly-fishing section too.

Another trip to Chutny's fine Indian food. Sambala, as always, was terrific and tried a some new dishes. Steamed rice cakes with mint chutney is a new favorite.

There's now four Indian resturants in that 10 mi strip of 71B from west Rogers to Bentonville. Walmart planning to take over India so they bring them to Bentonville by the thousands for training in how to manage stores packed with Chinese made merchandise .

Now for a jubilee whiskey I couldn't have last night.

THANK you, Mountaingirl! Now I technically HAVE heard of Ted Nugent but still don't know who he is even though I was definitely around in the '90s but nobody I ever heard of ever heard of him.

Though you can't imagine how happy I am that Huckabee has an actual friend instead of that pitiful old orange action thesp Chuck Norris who wears a pair of lifts Tom Cruise gave him for luck back in the day only they didn't work because still old, still short, still orange, still has-been.

So how come I keep hearing that the real reason Pope Benedict--I sure as hell have heard of HIM--suddenly walked off the job with two weeks' notice (sure, any 85 year old can claim "health," and the other excuse about spending more time with the fam doesn't apply because, you know) is because of Fr. Marcial Maciel, the Legion of Christ, a lawsuit in Rhode Island and revelations of even MORE hideous coverup scandals on the Pope's part? How come?

ANSWER MY QUESTION!

Norma...Nugent was a rocker back in the day, way before your time. He is from Detroit and was known in his early days as The Motor City Madman. Funny how he has now grown to fit that name.

He had a band in the 70s called the Amboy Dukes with several so-so hits. But many people know him for the band Damn Yankees that he put together around 89 with some other well known rockers. They had a big hit in the early 90s called "High Enough" (some called it "Higher") that, in my opinion, was the best thing he did. It had a video about a death row inmate.

He has dabbled in radio and tv, and seems to have grown more radical as he gets older. He seems obsessed with guns and poop...not necessarily in that order. Maybe trying to remain relevant?

These days he seems to be best known as Huckabee's new BFF.

Your Norma is beside herself, if that's possible, over your good news, eLwood. Though I've remained blissfully unaware of any reasons to be concerned heretofore. Unlike SOME of my Razorbaby bloggers, you're no whiner.

Which reminds me. Am I supposed to know who Ted Nugent is? My plate's too full and I'm having a bad reaction to a botched Brazilian wax or I'd probably Google him. But is he supposed to be some rock star? Because I've never heard of him.

I can tell he's old because, pasty puffy jowly pouty. But is he like Beach Boys old? Because them I've heard of. But not Ted Nugent. Not once. Nevereverland.

ANSWER MY QUESTION!

And Marco Rubio's ascendancy is the most rapid over-before-it-begins in memory. Even Simple Sulky Sarah lasted longer, before her first disastrous Katie Couric interview where she said Russia was a foreign country out her back door over yonder and claimed to read all those newspapers. Whatever ones are in front of her all those years. Which she couldn't name.

And Simple Sulky's only Marie Osmond old, not Beach Boy. Which I've heard of both. Even the Del Rubio (no relation) Triplets I've heard of because show business is my life. But Ted Nugent is who?

YOU HAVEN'T ANSWERED M-

You get the idea.

So back to this Rubio tool.

"In the end, Rubio looked like a child pretending to be an important politician, and his ideas weren’t any more impressive than his amateur delivery."

Never even left the gate in his maiden race. Not that he's gay probably. They just call them maidens because, track jargon I'm pretty sure.

Over. Next . . . .
Thanks for the link with Art Hobson's column, eLwood. I read it in the DoG. It is a very articulate statement of an atheist coming to terms with life. Ever since he was a young professor at the U of A in the late 1960s, Art has been asking very profound, and very hard to answer questions, about the meaning of reality. He won my respect in the late 1960s as one of the first anti-Vietnam War professors at the U of A. He even led demonstrations. Gosh, those were exciting times. The last time I saw him was a few years ago at a seminar for Northwest Arkansas lawyers where he spoke on climate change. He is still as sharp and articulate as he ever was

Thanks all y'all. Norma, come Saturday I'll be on edge of chair to see what SNL writers make of Rubico's pasted-on smile which stuck until someone cued him to begin the Repub response to SoU.

LMAO Citizen. That comparison is a keeper...speaking of god n' all
here's my friend and physics proff Art Hobson's latest column about how he found
atheism:

"My journey to becoming an atheist

The world is changing, and the changes have everything to do with religion. Increased knowledge is driving a trend away from traditional religious worldviews. Fourteen percent of all people now claim to be "non-religious." The trend is stronger in industrialized nations. The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life reported last year, "The number of Americans who do not identify with any religion continues to grow at a rapid pace. One-fifth of the U.S. public--and a third of adults under 30--are religiously unaffiliated today, the highest percentages ever."
.....
"But Art," you say, "surely you need God to give your life meaning?" My response: How can you, possessing the gift of life, not realize its obvious "meaning"? The meaning of your life is surely embodied in the living of your life! Your life is what you make of it. I can imagine God, if there were a God, responding, "I've given you a glorious planet, your senses, a fantastic brain, lovely surroundings, wondrous fellow-creatures, and endless possible adventures, and still you ask me what it all means? You even ask for more life, after life? Get outta' here."
If there is a heaven, it's here on Earth, and it's now.
