While she lived here, her husband Mark Henry flouted nearly every statute remodeling this house. There were no permits, no inspections, and no attempts to adhere to code. During our remodel, our electricians and architectural staff could not believe they were able to get away with what they did. The electrical wiring was particularly described as a nightmare.

Our neighbors are quick to tell numerous stories about the Henry family and their activities, most notably about the dusk-to-dawn illegal construction and the dubious advice that it was okay to cut down a tree that was not on their own property.

I realize this is all anecdotal and that Courtney is no longer married to Mark Henry, but I still believe this woman has neither the judgment nor the moral fortitude to sit on the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Justice Courtney Hudson (Henry)Goodson seems to have a really difficult time with that basic requirement of the Code of Judicial Conduct!

I seem to remember blogging about that here on this very Blog back in 2010 when she ran for the AR Supreme Court, but I'm getting older so I could just have imagined that.

The rules do allow gifts, but A.C.A. 21-8-304(a) prohibits any public servant from using her official position to secure special privileges "that are not available to others" for herself, her spouse, other persons standing in the first degree of relationship, or those with whom she has a substantial financial relationship.

It's a fine line, of course, and maybe she's walked it, but when does a "gift" become a "special privilege" that is not available to regular folk? Seems like, even if the trip to Italy was a gift, getting to ride around on the S.S. Chicken is much closer to a special privilege.

Surely you jest. When has an lawyer of that stature ever wanted to pick up his own tab?
Getting an "in" to the Ark Supremes has got to be worth something.

However, I hope Mr Goodson treads lightly because he's falling into that 90% who give the other attorneys a bad name.
