Today, I announce that after nearly three decades of searching, I haven't been able to , I find the most often quoted Scripture by Arkansas' Christian Taliban at the State Capitol.

It goes: "God Help Those who Helps Themselves," according to SalineShiite. Tolbert and other conservative and religious right evangelical fanatics who post to this blog and Tea Party lawmakers who spoke at recent committee meetings to justify their hatred of "the least of these."

Although, I could not find that particular scripture in the Old Testament, the Arkansas Legislature's book of choice, I did find this description of God's nature in Isaiah 25:4

"For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;
for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall."

I guess Arkansas evangelicals worship a different God than the one in my Bible.

I forgot to include the wild-west guns everywhere attitude of some scarity cat Republicans. Hell, they are thinking of a bill to implant AK-47 into every fetus in sort of a reserve abortion activity.

If thhRepublican Party wanted to do anything about Roe vs Wade they had a great chance durimng Bush 2's reign of terror when they controlled the House, Senate and presidency (for what it was worth). They don't want to change the law. They just want a "dog whistle" that will get Southerners to jump through hoops every time they need votes. Solve it-not on your life. Then theevangelical christians (small "c" intended) wouldn't go and vote. I guess anyone who sends wads of cash to a TV preacher while their own family does without is a sucker for anything!

Let's see-I am a young techie with a bundle of start-up cash and not knowing a damn thing about Arklansas except for 1957, I Google it to learn about the people and culture. After just 30 days of the new Republican-run(?) state government, running the state like a business (must be the pron business), the most recent news popping up first, you get:

transvaginal probes to intimidate women asking for an abortion
reduce weeks allowing for abortion in defiance of the SCOTUS rulings
efforts to change laws to inplant fundamentalism across the state (Taliban Lite)
a very short bridge made out like a Christmas tree
weather that seems to be spring one day and deep winter the next
a seming hatred of pwople not like them, even worse if you aren't lillt-white
etc, etc, etc

Tell me again why anyone would want to locate here based on just 30 days of this Klown Kircus in Little Rock.

So Arkansas becomes a third world country because the smart people in this state are to busy getting rich. They don't love Arkansas. They just want the idiots to win so they can manipulate them into letting the rich get richer...So they work them up about abortion and these fools don't even get that they are saving fetuses only to torture the babies that result with no health and no food (because they want to cut food stamps and the minimum wage)...SAD day..... That is also how the citizens of Arkansas will have to do before they reverse course because they see that their friends, family and work mates will be catastrophically impacted.
Then the people will see the un-American-ness of the current "buy bombs but ignore the ill" stance of the Tea Party.
Then the pendelum will swing back to compassionate.
In 50 years nobody still alive will admit they voted for this bunch of greedy bastards.
Sort of like now nobody admits they stood on the sidewalk and screamed at teenage black girls that just wanted to go to school.

I support Medicaid expansion, as I've said here. I also don't understand why the minority party hasn't yet realized it is in the minority. Why do any of you actually think this has a chance? Do you not realize that elections have consequences? The ignorance is astounding.

It's a sad thing though that Republicans can't see past the partisanship. This money will be spent with or without our help. Why should we deny help to poor Arkansans so that the money will just be spent on people from other states? The same debt is accrued regardless, and we're just as liable for it.

PVN: "The Republicans flaunt their Christianity while worshiping guns and turning their backs on poor people. I must be reading a different Bible."

Just for starters I suggest that they do a serious reading of Amos or most any other prophet. They were all about how their culture abused the poor and the marginalized. In the New Testament, they could start with all the healing miracles of Jesus. Seems like he was pretty interested in healthcare to me. They could read the Gospel of Luke and see how deeply it focused on the poor. They could look at Acts and see how the Jesus followers "had all things in common." And on and on and on.

To claim to be Christian and deny health care to the poor is the height of hypocrisy. And to think that avoiding Medicaid expansion will actually cost our state MORE money than embracing it.

I just can't fathom the depth of hate and ignorance that is driving this legislature.
