First hearing will be Eastern District of Arkansas most likely. These are the sitting judges:

G. Thomas Eisele
Susan Webber Wright
Billy Roy Wilson
James M. Moody
J. Leon Holmes
Brian S. Miller, Chief Judge
D. P. Marshall Jr.
Kristine G. Baker

When they appeal, they get the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Pretty conservative overall, but would really have to stretch to flip this stupid stuff.

Just a waste of time and money, buy hey, that's what these folks do best. Damn sure not making any good happen.

Well, RAPErt's bill has to go to lower courts first and will be turned down and then it is up to Dustin to decide to appeal. The state should just stop at that point and let the RAPErts of the world take up the collection since that is big dollars over several years. Maybe one of his super churches can sell one of their tax-free income makers and donate it to the Republicans to pay for the appeal.

Hopefully, if it goes to the SCOTUS, they refuse to hear it all all. Arkansas isn't looking too bright lately due to the actions of the Republican Klown Brigade so the SCOTUS may decide to not waste their time humoring people who are living in the 1880's.
Yes, according to my friend who has been working on this issue, up close and personal, that is what they expect. She's an experienced person, held office and been active in women's rights for years.
It's sort of a national strategy amongst the wingers that one of the states' anti-abortion bills will make it to the top of SCOTUS agenda and will be foundation case for overturning Roe v. Wade. Many of them want the glory and braggin rights. So, they keep passing these measures all across Repub state legislatures.

If they were doing this to men, they wouldn't never think about allowing CCW inside that Capitol. What they fail to realize is that the pencil at the ballot has more power over government than their bullet in their gun. Females have the majority of eligible and actual voters. We legally rule. We showed the damage we can do to their party nationwide last Nov. November 2014 isn't lookin' too good for them in the state either now.

I expect Beebe to veto the first but maybe not the second. It's a worthless veto anyway but it might help Democrats in some local races next election. Since the Democrats and females will come out in droves, they'll be there anyway. Might be a smart move to just let the 20 week one become law.

They'll be an immediate challenge and I suspect a fast temporary injunction on the 12 week one. I'm unsure if they'll be an immediate challenge to the 20 though. There's a pending decision on an Arizona one right now and usually those actually defending our rights have to work sparingly with their funds. They might wait for that decision to challenge the one here.

I've gone all I could. Wrote letters to elected reps, the governor and media and donated a bit to ACLU-AR. I'm now just sitting back laughing at the karma that will come to the GOP over this. With an Andy Mayberry pushing one and a RAPErt pushing the other which once required a probe with what looks like no coordination within their own party, they are just ripe for humor from many sources online between now and when reelections roll around. Citizens are touch about hillbilly humor about Arkansas still. ; )

      >>the governor has made up his mind on the abortion bills,... He's a lawyer. He knows that the U.S. Supreme Court has, to date, ruled repeatedly and clearly that both the Rapert and Mayberry bills are unconstitutional because they prohibit abortions before viability of the fetus.

Chatted with a person today who's been working the floor on these bills and planned to return tomorrow. She said the wingnuts WANT the measures to reach the U.S. Supreme court so they can get credit for overturning Roe v. Wade. They fully anticipate Roe v. Wade to be overturned.

Mayberry or Rapert has big goals in mind but I do think their reach is bigger than their grasp.
But with practicing Catholics in the majority on the Court you never really know.

When these bills get to Beebe's desk (and they unfortunately will), he needs to hold a press conference and say clearly that both bills violate the Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court rulings and either veto them or let them become law without his signature. If he chooses to veto them, he also needs to explain to the great unwashed like Saleen/Ev that given the number of votes in favor of both bills in the legislature they will likely override his veto despite his constitutional objections, and the state will squander precious taxpayer money defending these unconstitutional bills. Then sit back and watch the inevitable (Sallen/Ev's legal opinion notwithstanding).

"KARK reports the governor has made up his mind on the abortion bills . . .”

Morril Harriman and his wife were at Browning’s the other night. Said he and others at the governor’s office have never seen ANYTHING like the calls and emails from women raising hell about these idiotic bills. Harriman said nothing of a veto, but a body would have to be insane to believe Beebe will sign these things. Or let them become law without his signature.

      This legislature is absolutely embarrassing.

I have quit even opening emails from distant family and friends that are just busting at the seems laughing at us.

One email I got was about the media mistake (must have been a mistake they laughed) that the minority baby slapper was from AryanNation Idaho and not KKK Zinc, AR. (I am giving Harrison a break since the Grand Poobah of the pointyheaded sheetheads actually has a mailing address a couple miles outside Harrison)

Tech Park Pipe dream needs to be thrown to the back burner for a couple years till our current embarrassment fades off and Mississipps or Alabama or Oklahoma or maybe the Arizona sheriff draws the ridicule.

I thought it only took one committee member's request to trigger a roll call. If so, the member who made the request today should object on the floor of the House today. Bully Burris should be held accountable, but of course, bullies are always cowards. The bill should be returned to committee, and a roll call vote should be taken.
