Here in Rogers, we have escaped most of the effects of the storm. We had snow about noon, but it didn't last too long before it went away. We are getting warned about dire consequences overnight, but right now it is drizzling rain at my house and it is 31 degrees. We may get some ice tonight, but I think most of the storm has gone to the South of us.

Also spelling correction "respectively," not "repectively." Where are those proofreaders when you need them? While newspapers have those obsessive-compulsive usage-and-spelling Puritans, blogs don't. I'm sure Max must miss them.

Advice to Childe Roland and others, satire is wasted on conservatives. In an article about the Congressional quagmire over Chuck Hagel's nomination to Secretary of Defense (double-speak for War Department), it examines how the Breitbart bunch fell for a satirical piece and used it to oppose Hagel.

The article further dissects the difference between the Dems and Repugs on how they connect and, repectively, don't connect with Americans.
Thanks MG. What kind of fire must we light under you to get a back-up generator installed? Just a suggestion, if you happen to know an electrician then ask about capacity and whether to install one big one or two units. They will usu give you the real shinnee on which is better choice.

I don't know the cause but our generator kicked on for 30 minutes on Monday. Btw, put your bagged refrig food on the roof. All sorts of critters are opportunity feeders.

Local TV reported that big box home supply stores were sold out of generators. Seems the East coast bought up all available supplies. But what you want is not a store item.
eL...LOVE the new picture of the precious little ones! Love the dream sequence too. Can you take a nap this afternoon so we can find out how this ends?

A bit of a scare yesterday. The explosion and big fire on the Plaza in Kansas City was a couple of blocks from our condo. All is well with our property, but the video my neighbor was sending from his balcony was frightening.

Huge fat fluffy snowflakes everywhere up here at 1000 feet. I ran errands this morning trying to get a step ahead of this but for some stupid reason, I took the car instead of the 4WD truck. I came out of the grocery store and it was sleeting so hard it felt like needles hitting me in the face. I said my version of what passes for a prayer that the mountain road wouldn't be iced over or closed before I could make my way back to the house.

Just finished taking all of the necessary steps folks in the country do to prepare for a power outage. Fed all dogs a double meal so they can hibernate for awhile, laptops, Iphone, and Kindle are all on chargers, the heat is turned up to get the house warm......now I can sit back and enjoy the beautiful show.

TIP to anyone who might lose power when it is cold: Take your food out of the refrigerator and freezer, put it in trash bags, laundry baskets or whatever containers you have and place it outside. Don't leave it to ruin inside an airtight container that is getting warmer each minute the power is off. A valuable lesson I learned from an older friend the first year I moved back here and lost a large chest freezer and two refrigerators full of food.

I suppose it's a good time for a passing. Will miss you Charles Eddie. Like a big brother to many of us. His was a reasonable, cool temperament but when the Huns began to takeover his outrage was hot.

Woke up late to see all the neighborhood roofs white and big flurry of wet snow/ice coming down. Evergreens under the overhang are all topped with snow. Our late Lucky dog has a brother, Chance, who is one year old today. He's a strange mix of who jumped the fence around the momma bitch's yard. Lucky was classic Parsons Russell Terrier (rough coat) but Chance has the playful, aggressive, fast temperament of a PRT but has many of the markings of a Pointer including postures.

I had a funny morning dream. Saline Republican was headed back home from Orlando via Baltimore and a big snow & ice storm had hit Baltimore. He and fellow passengers were stuck and the lovely 30ish black woman he sat next to on the plane knows friends in the area..would he like to join her? He already knew she was from a good Repub family in Orlando, her father owned restaurants, she loved Newt and even smoked a joint with him on the campaign trail in Charleston. So, why not join this new friend Yolanda rather than sit in crowded airport terminal full of smelly, hostile passengers reading a pocket copy of Milton Friedman's greatest hits. There was a Marriot next door and after some hefty servings of house wine Saline and Yolanda awaken each not believing what happened the night before as they escaped the dread of a layover to find warmth and acceptance in each others' arms.

A month later the phone at Saline's broom n' mop shop rings and it's Yolanda, inquiring about him then, "By the way, I'm pregnant, what are we going to do with your baby?"

It's snowing big fluffy flakes in Fort Baptist at this moment, all the roofs are white and the yards are getting that way. Won't mean much since it's 37 degrees and rising, but it's getting pretty here.

I hate to hear about Charles Eddie. He impressed mag and I when we met him at the Rumba party on election night 4 years ago. It was a bizarre night of putting faces with names and experiencing our first face to face dose of the late, great jazzy.

Everyone at the party had such high hopes for the future with the criminal party of Bush-Cheney soundly defeated and a smart black guy heading to the Oval Office. What none of us counted on that night was that the defeated party would triple-down on NUTS for the next 4 years and apparently forever. It's too bad jazzy and Charles Eddie won't be around to see the GOP go to the way of the Whigs.

Or, on the other hand I could type, I'm glad jazzy and Charles Eddie won't have to endure the total destruction of the United Corporate States over the next 4 terrible years....since clearly it's not possible to guess which is our fate at this point. Rest in Peace old friends.

No, another restaurant at Markham and University won't screw up the traffic situation because it can't be screwed up any more than the city has already allowed. One of these days at lunch, it will just stop dead and everyone will be found there a week later, having died in the turn lanes for the three restaurants and the shopping center while ambulances are trying to get thru to St Vincent's (you better hope you are east of the hospital when you are stricken). Why not make them all, including Huck-a-fil-a pay to build a new road BEHIND all the restaurants and tied into the shopping center and not allow any of them access to Markham or University. There is a light at University for the shopping center which at least means there is some sense of control.

I've said it over and over: If the finalist is tied to Nellums and/or Curry, there's going to be trouble. Somebody's getting something somewhere, and it won't be a square deal.

That being said, the LRSD could hire ME for a year. I'm sure I'd futz everything up in the district, because I'd have no idea what I was doing. But, I'd get a year's pay ($200,000.00), and a buy out ($420,000,000.00). Win-win for me!
