The discussion above about Wilbur Mills got me to wondering - Whatever happened Fanne Foxe?

According to the legend, she returned to Argentina and faded from the public spotlight.

Using Google, I searched all over Argentina for her, but had no luck.

Instead, the unconfirmed information suggests that she is currently living in Florida at age 77.

"Ann Coulter has given up on the Latino vote.
In an opinion piece riddled with errors and unattributed statistics, the conservative columnist lashed out at Republicans working to pass comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship, saying that Latinos will never vote for the GOP because they are too poor and government-dependent.

Coulter begins her article by grossly overestimating the undocumented population, asking “why do Republicans want to create up to 20 million more Democratic voters, especially if it involves flouting the law?”
After NATO fired missiles at Gaddafi's weapons depots in Libya, the weapons flooded out and were transferred to al-Qaeda militants. Today, those weapons were used for a ferocious attack on Gao, Mali that lasted six hours until the French arrived.

Including the infamous depletion allowance which allows oil companies to keep deducting the costs of an oil well far beyond its original cost and cost of operation. It's been cleaned up a bit since Wilbur's time but it was a gravy train for big oil and big mining interests. Fighting for higher depletion allowances was a highly sought after lobbying position in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Jake, I once hit a deer head on over in Madison county on hy 16. It had jumped a fence and for reasons not understood did a 180 straight into my car which was going about 55. It limped to the side of road and fell/collapsed. I went back to neighboring house and placed a call to AG&F 800 number then left for home to call my insur agent.

That's what I knew had to be done. Otherwise I would have taken the creature to a butcher's for dressing, cutting and packaging. It would been a year's food for the dog, perhaps more, small dog.
"By passing a bill last week that allows motorists to eat their roadkill, the Montana House of Representatives may be on their way to legalizing the ultimate drive-through experience.

State Rep. Steve Lavin originally introduced the bill into Montana's House to allow "game animals, fur-bearing animals, migratory game birds and upland game birds" who have been killed by a car to be harvested for food."
And just what will be in that meat served up in those roving roach coaches??

Will one of those "big things" Tom Cotton does in the future include establishing a permanent residence here in Arkansas? If he did that, maybe he wouldn't continue to vote for the Club for Growth (of more Millionaires) agenda, but I doubt that will EVER HAPPEN. Republicans seem determined to drive this wonderful country off the fiscal cliff it created during the years W was President.

"I look forward to the voters sending poor old Tom Cotton back to south Arkansas where he can learn what his constituents' lives are all about"

That was rich boy Cotton and he has no relation with the 4th district other than the rich can afford to inundate the TV with pictures of this "local boy" who hadn't lived in the state for 20 years. I am surprised he could find a teacher who remembered him-maybe she was an actor? He finally rented some space here since he had to come back sometime to act like he actually was an Arkansan but what we have in Washington is a Tea Bag Carpetbagger with a lot of Koch and Club for Growth money thrown at the wall in the assurance that some will stick. Get a real local person with some name recognition and have the HOUSE actually meet like 20 days a year, a door knocker could make inroads. And buy some billboards near the larger cities and every sale barn in the area to keep asking what he has done for Arkansas while voting against the agricultural bill. He talks a big show but what he votes foris what counts.

I just did a phone survey on the 2014 race for governor. It went like this:
Here are some things that "people are saying" about the candidates, would this
make you more likely, less likely, blah blah blah...

"Asa Hutchinson is a Washington insider, a lobbyist, and he once set a puppy on fire to punish it for chewing his Italian shoes".

"Bill Halter is an Ivy League educated Liberal who once hired Union workers to disassemble and haul away his neighbor's house because he disapproved of their landscaping".

"Mike Ross is a Washington insider who hates old people so much that he once put his elderly mother out of the car on I-30 late at night because she accidently peed a little bit".

"John Burkhalter was once a male stripper". (They really said that).

No one in Arkansas can name one bill of substance that Wardlaw has sponsored, excepting the State Rabies Control Act. Like most of these racist Dixiecrat Democrats, he should change his D to an R, just so I don't have to wonder how he feels about blacks, gays, women and feral pigs.

Great story in the NY Times on the emerging issue of liability insurance for gun owners and the broader question of liability of property owners where shootings may occur.

This raises the issue in my mind about businesses and even private residences where guns are carried and shootings result; are the property owners liable for damages even though they may be unaware that any weapon had been brought onto their property?

Does your church have THAT kind of liability?

“SPEAKING OF TOM COTTON: I think he's getting attention because of growing belief he'll challenge U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor next year.”

Can’t help thinking how far we’ve fallen since JFK commented on the Arkansas delegation while dedicating Greers Ferry Dam almost 50 years ago. Said the president on October 3, 1963:

"I suppose pound for pound, the Arkansas delegation in the Congress of the United States wields more influence than any other delegation of any of the other 49 states . . . And I don’t know whether the people of Arkansas . . . realize that your delegation holds within its hands . . . not only a good many important measures which affect this state, but measures which also affect this country.”

JKF went on to praise each member of the Arkansas delegation individually, particularly Wilbur D. Mills. He said the main reason he had come to Arkansas that day was, “Because of your distinguished Congressman who is chairman of the most influential committee, the Ways and Means Committee of the House . . .”

JFK wasn’t done: “It said in the New York Times this morning that if Congressman Mills suggested it, that the president would be glad to come down here and dedicate this dam and sing ‘Down By the Old Mill Stream,’ or any other request that was made—and I would be delighted!”

Can anybody on this blog imagine anything like this happening today?

http://goo.gl/larlr

By the way, Kay Goss, author of “Mr. Chairman: The Life and Legacy of Wilbur D. Mills,” will chronicle the life and career of the longest continuously serving chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, Sturgis Hall, Clinton School of Public Service.

For those who may not know, Mills is noted for his role as the "architect" of many policies including Medicare, tax reform, interstate highways and Social Security.
