Believe me, you all do not want Asa Hutchinson as Governor, and Bill Halter can not beat Asa. The only reason Beebe beat him in 2006 is because many Republicans voted for Beebe. Can you see a single Republican voting for Halter? Get real, Arkansas Bloggers, liberals can not win a statewide election in Arkansas. Keep your ideological purity, and allow Republicans to take over, or accept compromises and accept a Mike Ross as the better alternative.

I've never been in a union, never got the chance to join a union, was raised by an anti-union father and of course never made much money in my whole life partly because I live in Arkansas.

It was Arkansas Democrats who gave us the Right To Work law back when WWII was raging around the globe...can't blame the Republicans for that. I'm guessing maybe the idea of striking workers during war time influenced their vote or maybe since back then they were the sole owners of the Arkansas Plantation they didn't want to pay workers a fair wage....either way it meant most Arkansas workers would never see membership in the Middle Class.

Is this what we want for our future? Do you really want your kids to work for damn near nothing in dangerous factories.....assuming there'll be a factory left in Arkansas or the US 10 years from now? I've known some rare union workers and they weren't monsters. They had more money than I did, but they didn't have horns or sleep with their children or worship Satan.

What kind of Arkansas do you see when our future is filled with low wage chicken-gutting-Wal-Mart wages? Shall we extend the Delta poorness from border to border? Is there something wrong with Arkansas workers that they don't deserve decent wages? Did our ancestors eat the damn snake's apple in the Garden of Eden? Why would anyone hope we suck hind tit for the rest of time?

I know the Waltons, Tysons, Hunts, Stephens, Hussmans are barely making ends meet, but I'd like to see the day come around when everyone in Arkansas who works 40 hours per week enjoys life above the poverty level. If more Arkansans had money in their pockets the more they could spend with the above named people.

It's high time we break the 194 year tradition of low low low wages and dead end futures for our kids. Maybe we'll never be Connecticut but by god why would you want us to always race Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana for last place?

Remember when FDR warned our grandparents about Fearing Fear back in 1933? Today Fear has taken over, every wingnut is fearing up a storm, arming to the teeth, seeing spooks around every corner. Even Arkansas Democrats are feasting on Fear. OH god....Unions! Oh god....Bill Halter might actually do something if he's governor! Halter might kick some Tea Bagger legislator ass if he gets in! Halter might speak impolitely to backwoods idiots! Bad things might happen to Arkansas if we wake up in 47th place!!!! And what about Jesus? I......am.....too....scared....to type......more.......

Interesting that the Steelworkers made an endorsement without even knowing who is going to be in the field. Regardless, being the darling of labor bosses is not a good way to win elections in Arkansas. Even many Democrats separate their support of working women & men from the guys who funnel the money.

Regarding the Steelworker's endorsement, do these types of endorsements really mean anything anymore in Arkansas? I understand that they do from the point of view that it means a lot of money both in and out of state will come in to Halter, but as far as voters are concerned, do these types of endorsements move voters in Arkansas anymore? I guess I just don't know what kind of numbers the Steelworkers have in Arkansas. It isn't like we are Pittsburgh. Just curious.

Which polls? Whose polls? Got any links? You better spread that Obamacare fear before too many find out it's a good deal. Getting toothpaste back in the tube is not any fun.

All the seniors I know are thrilled with ACA thus far. Eliminating the doughnut hole and a cost-free physical each year is damn popular (not to mention sensible) with our grandmas and grandpas.

Here's a little primer WPS about "socialized medicine" when people like you were trying to frighten the nation about Medicare. Later, the Teflon One had to support it, defend it and strengthen it.
The relevant link is to a report that Congressman Ross was quoted as saying “following my current term in the U.S. Congress, which ends January 3, 2013, I will be joining Little Rock based Southwest Power Pool as its Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Relations.” It also contains a Southwest Power Pool news release “MAY 14, 2012, LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – Southwest Power Pool (SPP) today announced that U.S. Congressman Mike Ross will join SPP as its Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Relations when his term in Congress ends in January.” Both of these quotes can be independently verified. Oh boy! Maybe I'm not so strong for Halter after all? Here's my chance to vote for Mike Ross...a man who saw the smartness of cuddling up with Big Pharma so he could sell his piddly drug store in a piddly little Arkansas town for 4 TIMES WHAT IT APPRAISED FOR!

Why, no telling what a man like Mike Ross could pull off as our governor! WPS is right! Mike Ross STAYED in Arkansas screwing Arkansas folks his entire career. He didn't go out of state to get rich, he stayed right here and sold out his constituents the old time Arkansas way.

He pioneered the scam of pretending to be a Democrat, no doubt Mark Pryor learned a lot from ole USADrugs Mike Ross. Wonder what scam he's working on now? Probably already cornered the market in Vaginal Probes and will get super rich in the future as Arkansas Tea Bagger legislators demand a whole lot of probing for Arkansas girls!

I wouldn't be surprised if Ross doesn't steal my idea and make all his Vaginal Probes in the shape of AR15s. By god he'll suck up the redneck vote for sure!

WPS says: " wish he too would come out in favor of gay marriage, but I realize this is Arkansas - but he worked hard and represented our district well."

I call bullcrap.

He voted against everything of note that President Obama stood for, not even giving his Democratic Party leader a chance to even implement policies in the first two years of office that he thought would help the country. And during townhall meetings in South Arkansas where Tea Party racist call Obama names and made personal and Birthers comments about this president, Ross stood silent and never came to his defense.

And during his tenure in office, Ross hasn't achieved one thing of note - except lukewarm and hand holding piecemeal legislation with right-wing conservatives that would make one vomit. Speak for yourself, WPS, when you say he has has represented the district well - only if you are a wealthy, white chamber of commerce-type or a corporate CEO -- which it sounds like you are a perfect fit for one of those categories.

All he has done for the middle-class working people in this district is bend them over and let Koch Industry's Georgia Pacific rape the natural resources of South Arkansas. Visit any town in South Arkansas and ask any working class man what they think of this lobbyist and you will get the same answer - another worthless Bluedog politician churned out by the Arkansas Democratic Party.

patience, I chose to move to Arkansas in 1980 to open my business. Prior to moving here I traveled here frequently on business. I fell in love with the state and it's moderate Democrat politicians such as David Pryor, Dale Bumpers, Bill Clinton and numerous others. Unfortunately the last few years have taken the state in a right wing direction. I voted for Mike Huckabee, Win Rockerfeller and a few other Republicans in years past, along with Bill Clinton, Vic Snyder and other Democrats. The problem these days is we no longer have any republicans in Arkansas, just the wing nuts. Seems the republicans just gave their party to the wing nuts. It is depressing to see and hear these mean spirited, selfish ignorant bastards, who by their butchering of the English lanuage, indicate that they must have been home schooled by parents who didn't finish grammer school. At 71 I hope I still have a number of years of life ahead of me, but I don't relish the fact of having to live it out in Arkansas.

Max - by you're argument, my son, who now works for a nonprofit in Dallas, is a lobbyist too because he uses his congressional internship experience to talk to elected officials. And, how is what he does a bad thing? SW Power Pool just helps keep the lights on. Lets not forget Mike Ross did serve on the Energy Committee for some time so he does have policy experience in this area.

On the issues, yes, he's a 2nd amendment supporter and last time I checked, so is almost everyone in Arkansas. When you call Mike Ross a "gun nut" you realize you're insulting thousands of Arkansans right?? And gay rights...this is Arkansas, not San Francisco.

Obamacare is a mess and most people in this state agree with me, even Democrats. Check the polls.

My stout defense is that Mike Ross was my congressman for 10+ years and he did a hell of a job. Im not part of any "organization." I don't agree with him on every issue - I wish he too would come out in favor of gay marriage, but I realize this is Arkansas - but he worked hard and represented our district well. And now look what we get as our congressman?! A right-wing tea-partier who goes on every network he can to trash the president and Democrats. I don't want Mike Ross to run for Gov - I want my congressman back.

Halter, Asa, Cotton and Griffin all spent decades outside this state and then come back and run for office. It'd be refreshing to have someone who has stuck around his entire life here.

Ross isn't yet registered because, legally, he can't be. But a fat job as a govt. relations expert for a major industry group whose interests Ross has advances quacks enough like a lobby duck to be a distinction without a difference. If not for his knowledge of working with political hacks and bureaucrats, what, really, does Ross bring to the Southwest Power Pool? Hutchinson, Lincoln and others went down the same self-enrichment charade following their stints. Mike Ross has, in addition to supporting homophobic ballot initiatives in Arkansas, expressed consistent support for employment discrimination against gay people. Opposing equal treatment in employment is about as anti-gay, and reprehensible, as you can get. Mike Ross has worn his NRA bona fides on his sleeve for decades. He supported stripping of home rule powers from Arkansas cities in deference to gun nuts. Bill Clinton is your exemplar of the fact that you need not kiss NRA butt on EVERY SINGLE issue, as Ross has done. But his aid and comfort to the enemy on Obamacare damaged every single Democratic politician even as it denied help to a district in greater need than the rest of Arkansas. I think he'll have to change his tune at least slightly to win a Democratic primary. But perhaps not. In any case, his record is clear. It's not good. I take it his organization is up and running by your stout defense.

Beebe -- or Hitler or Huckabee or Faubus or whoever -- did it, too is something short of a ringing defense of a political candidate.
