Durango, Rick Scott is doing nothing more than reading his disastrous favorability ratings and being smart enough to know he has to change course if he wants to be reelected next year. He has done a U-turn on Medicaid expansion, teacher pay, road funding, you name it. What do you know! He must have bought a heart at Walmart. All in the name of being favored by more than 31% of Florida voters:

http://tinyurl.com/a6jboc9

Guess we'll have to disagree that makes him "decent". I think it makes him nothing more than a "politician" in the worst sense of the word.

The difficulty in getting this passed in Arkansas is most of the elected legislators campaigned AGAINST President Obama as if he were their actual opponent. So those legislators would wind up with a lot of egg on their face, and open themselves up for a lot of questions back home if they voted to support the Medicaid expansion, even if it will economically benefit the state. As a state we will then reap what was sown, because the majority voted to support Romney/Ryan and the Republican agenda.

Just another example of how voting Republican can be dangerous for your health and potentially fatal for your healthcare!

      “[Rick Scott's] a sleazeball and should be in jail . . .”

SP, apparently the FBI would disagree with you about that. Several HCA executives were investigated and indicted, but Scott was never charged with a crime.

I’m not enamored of Scott, but will give him credit for bucking the GOP thugs on Medicaid expansion. Also for his support of wounded war vets in Florida and for working to increase teacher pay.

Those things strike me as “decent.”

Durango, Scott is not a "decent guy" using any common definition of the term. He's a sleazeball and should be in jail for how his company ripped the government off for billions of health care dollars.

“. . . Gov. Rick Scott became the seventh GOP governor to endorse expansion. This one is a big deal. Scott has been an anti-Obamcare poster boy who campaigned against the law . . .”

Nice to see Scott come outta the political closet and get on the right side. He’s a bright, calculating bidnessman who knew all along that Medicaid expansion would be good for Florida’s poor and also for its hospitals, particularly the at-risk, rural facilities.

A sharp, gutsy fella who co-founded a national hospital chain that later merged with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Scott spent considerable time in Little Rock where HCA owned Doctors Hospital for years before selling out to St. Vincent.

Scott’s a decent guy (for a mega millionaire), although he resigned as CEO of Columbia-HCA after the chain got caught up in a Medicare billing scandal that cost the company almost $700 million.

The man’s personal wealth and personal “loans” to his campaign are the chief reasons Scott is governor of the Sunshine State today. Money talks. In politics as elsewhere. (Eat yer heart out, Michael Dale Huckabee.)

The healthcare industry got to Scott on this one. Gonna help their bottomline.

And for the love of Ceiling Cat, I cannot figure out why these guys are against something their party approved of back when RomneyCare was instituted in Massachusetts. And this healthcare program is designed on all the blueprints that the Republicans drew back up before the dark-skinned, Mooslim, Nazi, Socialist, Communist, Fascist (did I miss one?) Kenyan got elected.

Oh, snap. I just answered my own question.

If Scott of Florida got that provision to go with the program to back in three years when the co-pay comes in and make a decision as whether to continue, then Beebe can sign for the state as there is no out of pocket tax money for the first 3 years so there isn't a 75% approval needed and all of this Republican "christian" worry that someone might actually receive care is moot. No money involved for 3 years? Tell the small brains in the Republican legislature to shove it and agree to the expansion with a follow-up in 3 years to see if it should continue and then the Republicans can tell peole that all the religious spouting off they do is just for votes and they aren't New Testament followers but still hung up in the Torah!
