mrprincipal07, I hadn't even heard of that movie until a couple of years ago when it came out on DVD. Of course, I am ignorant of many things.

I was expecting an awful movie condescending to Arkansas, but as a more recent movie would put it, not so much. I really liked it. It warned us about the likes of Rush Limbaugh 30 years ahead of time. We should have paid more attention back then.

It was hard to accept Andy Griffith as the villain though. Of course, when I first saw this movie, I'd been a veteran of watchin' Sheriff Taylor of Mayberry all those years.

I hope you reported your income from the movie to the IRS. I may claim a bounty if you didn't.

I guess jury duty is still a go ; ) DeathbyInches, they'd never select me for jury duty either if they asked some of my views on a lot of issues in advance.

Doc, it would be interested to see what they would do if you were the only witness to a horrid crime. The defense would be delighted. I think the Freethinkers Group tried to get that changed in the past but couldn't get the support in the legislature.

Cindi, I knew I couldn't run for office, but didn't know about not being able to testify in court? Would it also ban me from jury duty?

I accidentally found a fast way off jury duty. When I was selected to be on a jury who were going to decide the fate of a ignorant couple, my age, who were caught making meth in their home, I was asked about my views on drugs and since I was IN a court room TALKING to a Judge, I never considered lying for a second.

When I said I thought most drugs should be legalized, regulated and taxed....the room got 30 degrees cooler and I swear I could hear hissing. I was dismissed so harshly I felt like Chuck Connors in Branded....all eyes were on me, not a sound was made except for my shoes clomping down the aisle....I sorta expected a sniper to take me out before I got to my car.

I haven't done any drugs since way before the 20th century was over, but those are my feelings about our drug laws. Allah knows the War On Drugs has been a dismal failure and wasted billions of taxpayer dollars. Taxing Pot alone in the state of Arkansas would build us new roads in all directions and still not put a dent in our treasury.

The ignorant couple, he was a janitor at the mall, got 80 years in prison and lately I've been wondering if they would have tried making meth if he had been getting 9 dollars per hour working his minimum wage job?

Rapert would never grasp that if your religion increases your ego, you are doing something very wrong.

About 75% of Americans are Christian. I don't have a problem at all with that 50% who use their belief to enhance their lives. The 25% that are fundamentalist are a whole new ballgame though. They want to force their belief into the lives of others whether they want it or not. The rabid homophobes, racists, revenge lovin' gun lusters, and anti-women sorts all fit this bill.

Their deity was the one that gave that free will to those others (per their beliefs) but they think they have the right to take it away. They are themselves the actual anti-christ of our world. ; )

Rapert would, no doubt, approve of the House version of the violence against women act. It would exclude LGBTs from accessing crisis centers receiving government grants. It would also shaft Native American women.

"The Senate bill’s protections for Native American victims were also protested as “unconstitutional” and received vocal opposition from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA). Though the House bill does grant tribal courts the authority to prosecute non-native perpetrators of domestic abuse, these abusers can only receive a maximum sentence of 1 year. The bill states, “A participating tribe may exercise this special domestic violence jurisdiction over only domestic or dating violence offenses punishable by up to one year committed in Indian country against a tribal member or non-tribal member Indian who resides in Indian country.” The House also adds a provision allowing the accused to take their case to federal court if they feel their rights are being violated. Currently, Native American victims with non-native partners are caught in a limbo where tribal courts cannot touch perpetrators but federal law enforcement does not have jurisdiction."
Isn't it wonderful to now have the state legislature run by a bunch of ignorant cranks that pretend to be Christians? Rapert is doing everything in his power to make himself and Arkansas a laughingstock. Have you ever noticed the more guys like claim they know what God wants, the less you see of Him in them.

Sen. Jason Rapeheart will not rest until he takes this country back to the good old days when a white man could own so many niggers as he could afford, and a married white woman could not own property of any description, let alone hope to vote.

From up here in the hills, it looks like a working majority of the Arkansas General Assembly, not to mention some very annoying bloggers, agree with him.
