A&E news, April 23

The Little Rock Film Festival has announced its lineup. See our blog for the full rundown of those featured, including “The Evening Sun,” starring Ray McKinnon and Hal Holbrook; “Kassim the Dream,” a documentary about boxer and former Ugandan child soldier Kassim Ouma, and “Body of War,” a documentary, by Phil Donahue, about an Iraq War veteran who's paralyzed from the waist down. Passes for the third annual festival, which runs from May 13-17, are available for sale at littlerockfilmfestival.org.

Big names coming soon: Jerry Seinfeld to Robinson on Friday, July 10. Tickets go on sale on May 8. The American Idol tour to Alltel Arena on Saturday, July 25. Tickets go on sale May 9 at 10 a.m. Too Short to the Village on Friday, June 5. No word on tickets. MGMT to the Village on Tuesday, June 9. Tickets go on sale on April 25.

Nate Powell's latest comic, “Cakewalk,” is online for free reading. A short collaboration with writer Rachel Bormann, it follows an adolescent girl in Indiana who naively dresses up in blackface, as Aunt Jemima, for Halloween.

There's also a new Q&A with the North Little Rock native about his future projects, including a lot of details about his next graphic novel/comics essay “Any Empire,” due in 2010.

Check out a new local short film from Gerry Bruno, of See Spot Run Productions. It's based on an idea every Star Wars nerd has daydreamed about at least once or a hundred times: Using the Force in everyday life.
