What's Cookin', Oct. 11

Mexico Chiquito will break ground on a new restaurant at 13294 Cantrell in the next couple of weeks, according to a company spokesperson.

Mr. Mason's Pit Bar-B-Q & Catering Co. has extended its hours and expanded its menu. The downtown restaurant (915 W. Capitol Ave.) is now open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Additionally, Mr. Mason's has added a kids' menu and specials of smoked quail, beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin and smoked stuffed peppers. Also of note on the barbecue joint's menu: Mr. Mason's Jar Special, a layered meal of slaw, beans, pork, sauce and a pickle, served in a Mason jar.
