Beebe raises cash in Beverly Hills
Asa Hutchinson's campaign and the state Republican Party are attacking Mike Beebe for a fundraising event he's having tonight at the Beverly Hills home of supermarket magnate Ron Burkle.
The quotes from the GOP operatives in today's Arkansas News Bureau article are classic:
"It's not much of a surprise that Mike Beebe is appealing to the most liberal wing of the national Democratic Party," David Kinkade, spokesman for Republican candidate for governor Asa Hutchinson, said Monday.
"Burkle has pumped tons of cash into the war chests of folks like Ted Kennedy and John Kerry," Kinkade said. "It just goes to show that the Democrats are hungry for power and will get into bed with just about anybody to raise money for this race." ...
"The question is simple," [state Republican Party executive director Clint Reed] said. "Do Arkansans want a candidate who is a true conservative in Asa Hutchinson, who will remain true to Arkansas values, or do they want a candidate in Mike Beebe who will pander to liberal Hollywood elites and Hillary Clinton? I think the answer is simple."
Translation: Darn, we wish we were raising tons of money in California!
Beebe has raised over $3 million to Hutchinson's $1.5 million. Burkle, who is hosting the fundraiser, was profiled in New York Times on Sunday about his long-time relationship with Bill Clinton.

Comments
In the January, 2005, Los Angeles Business Journal article, Janet Burkle claimed that Mr. Burkle hid millions of dollars in assets in their first settlement agreement. She argued that they were not officially separated until 2002; he said they split about a decade earlier. While Mr. Burkle claimed she put the lives of one their three children in danger by sleeping with a personal trainer with a criminal record, Ms. Burkle countered that Mr. Burkle conducted intrusive surveillance of her and her boyfriend at the time.
"My husband cannot tolerate losinganything!" Janet Burkle said in a court declaration filed in the divorce.
In the court documents, Mr. Burkle argued that the record should be sealed to keep his wife from publicizing his business affairs to the media, and to guarantee his "constitutional right of privacy."
"My husband is extremely wealthy and powerful," Janet Burkle claimed in court papers. "He is used to exerting control over all the people that he comes into contact with."
According to the Los Angeles Business Journal story, Mr. Burkle's marriage began to fall apart in the 1990's. Janet Burkle sought a domestic violence order against Mr. Burkle, accusing him of having private investigators follow her around for more than a year. Mr. Burkle accused her of abducting their own children.

Burkle has been accused of having individuals that he supported financially in their campaigns, carry legislation for him. In fact, Kevin Murray, D-Los Angeles carried a bill that would conceal financial information in divorce filings. The California Judges Association criticized the bill for encouraging secrecy and creating a potential bureaucratic hassle". Critics accused Murray of carrying this bill for Ron Burkle, who has tried unsuccessfully to seal the records of his nasty divorce. I wonder what Mike Beebe will do for Beverly Hills Ron Burkle? Will he do special favors for Burkle because of this fundraiser?

The last people in the world that should criticize anybody on campaign finance and monetary influence should be the republicans. Don't forget the republican party would take campaign contributions from Satan himself.

Maybe Ron will introduce Mike to some of the models he keeps stashed all over the place for when Clinton visits?
Burkle is a total sleeze. But a rich one.

...Don't forget the republican party would take campaign contributions from Satan himself.
I think that's a done deal...just ask Tom DeLay.

OK The Republicans are calling Beebe a whore because he is taking money from a rich businessman. Ok, that IS being a whore, but is that the midget calling the munchkin short. Asa! had fundraisers with Mehlman and McCain. (I am so disappointed in McCain. He used to be a voice of reason, bipartisanship, and responsibility. Now he is the biggest whore of all. That however is another time.) Also, what about Asa! using Scott Howell to produce his campaign ads. This is the same SOB that produced those disgusting ads against Max Cleland a few years ago. Where is the justice, where is the karma?

Like Asa or any R has room to talk about fundraising sources. Bush, Delay, Frist all have taken money from questionable sources. And to the bigger point, voters don't really care where the money comes from as long as no strings are attached. Stop whining Asa.

This criticism comes from Hutchinson? The same Hutchinson who raised money by whoring with fellow lobbyists in DC? The same Hutchinson who kept mum during the courtship and sealed divorce of his roommate brother Tim? You're kidding, right?

Maybe Beebe is out in CA to learn about gay marriage? Speaking of which, now that he has opined on abortion (pissing everyone off in the process) is there a chance Mikey will tell us his thoughts on gay marriage.
I'm sure the Hollywood types are asking him where he is on that one tonight. Maybe he can tell us where he stands, sits or whatever on that one.

I bet that'll be one heck of a party...sad that I wasn't invited. Please post the details tomorrow so we can live vicariously through our swanky Arkansans!

Here it comes, the post above, made by some aspiring Asa! Fascistista wannabe. Notice how the poster rolls "gay marriage", a lack of facts, Hollywood, and the fact he is from New York all into one post.
Lets review the moral qualities of Asa! Hutchinson.
He wasted millions of taxpayer dollars to try to impeach (and he failed) a sitting President .... the first one from Arkansas. But Asa! failed to disclose that he shared an apartment with a brother, Tim, who was banging his staffer and doing the same things Asa! was attacking the President for with taxpayer money.
Lets also not forget this is the same Asa! who claimed he champions campaign finance reform, then turns around and whored himself out to a number of corporate sponsors to get money to run for Governor of Arkansas, or set himself up when he loses.
And lest we forget, this is the same Asa! whose flying monkeys did all they could do to tear Win Rockefeller apart and now as Rockefeller is fighting the hardest fight of his life, they cuddle up and act like he was the best thing in the party.
H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E thy name is Asa!
I think all the D.C.-insiders in both parties need to take their money back to their homes...Asa! and Bill Halter....and invest in Anacostia as well as other neighborhoods in D.C. that are in disrepair.

Asa is one of the few people who could make dubya look better (at least he won a governor's race).

Lay off Beebe. Tell me one candidate that has not taken money from a questionable source. They all do it. That is politics.
I am confused on one thing though. The Beebe campaign criticized Halter for raising money out of state and now he is doing the same?
Posted by: The Insider | April 25, 2006 10:52 AM
Drew, why do you continue to attack these candidates? You have no standing to do so. You quit the race. You HAD a very big microphone but now you are just a quitter. A quitter who is being used like a cheap hooker by other LG candidates to discredit the race leader. And the worst part is that you refuse to stand behind your best argument to date to keep Halter out of the race. So, in recognition of your spineless acts of cowardice, I have created a new slogan for your 'campaign website':
Drew Pritt: Twice the Quitter Halter Will Ever Be.
P.S. You should really qualify your website with either "Former Candidate for LG" or a story titled "Why I Quit the Race by Drew Pritt"

Donkey:
I believe Mr. Pritt has every right (guaranteed by the first amendment) to post his opinion on a blog. He is criticizing a candidate in the race for Lt. Governor. You are not. Are you saying that once a candidate drops from a race that he must keep his opinions to himself?
Posted by: hugh mann | April 25, 2006 12:37 PM
hugh man,
Sure he has the right to post. But that does not change the fact that he is a quitter and a coward. He start something and then quickly abandons it when the smallest bit of pressure builds up.
I am simply letting everyone here know that Pritt has Zero credibility. Further, he is a fraud - he hold him out to be an activist, but in fact, he takes no action (or when he does, he runs away very quickly)
There are some simple questions that Pritt has refused to address on this board. I will ask them again, but believe me, the Coward won't answer, because the truth is probably too painful for him.
Pritt:
1) Why did you Quit the LG race?
2) Are you going to file the suit challenging Halter's candidacy?
3) Did you receive assistance on your complaint against Halter and if so from who?

Until this blog limits Drew Pritt's comments, I am no longer viewing it. I will wait to hear from my friends if Pritt's postings have ceased or have been prevented.
The integrity of this blog has been corrupted and coopted because it allows Pritt to post repeated comments to the point where it appears to be his own personal forum.
I am done with this blog until it cleans up its act -- not by disallowing Pritt, but by keeping his comments to one or two rahter than dozens upon dozens.
Posted by: I am done with this blog. | April 25, 2006 12:56 PM
Ive yet to find a blog in which people actually read it for integrity. Drew put himself up for public service and he should be comended for it. He has every right to post whatever wants on this blog and is man to take the childish punishs you immature people throw at him for having an opion that is different than yours. If the democrats cant come together and be a group the why do we need the republicans? we can defeat our sefls just fine.
And I have no problem with anyone bashing Halter. ANy one dumb enough to spend a million dollars running for an office that pays less than 40k a year needs to be beat up on.
So Drew I say keep givin Bill hell.

Drew Pritt reminds me of a TuPac song... You know the one where all the girls are the same in every video (not going to use the actual words as to not offend anyone). He is everywhere! You go to the blog about Win Noble, and yes Drew has a comment about that... Jeez! It wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't so negative about EVERYTHING.
Posted by: Jeez! | April 25, 2006 01:13 PM
"Drew put himself up for public service and he should be commended for it. "
Have you been reading the posts at all? Yes, Drew put himself up - but then he QUIT. And he attacked Halter and then BACKED DOWN.
Do you support quitters?
And for the record, I think Drew should be allowed to post whatever he wants, but everyone should know that words carry the weight of a deserter walking away from his dying brethren on the battlefield.

I just love watching Republicans whine about morality and fair play. Like they have a clue what it means.

How did a listing about Beebe getting money from Dem in CA translate into a bash on Drew Pritt?
Get over yourselves people! At least his ideas and thoughts a more innovative and stimulators for conversation on this blog.
It's a free country, and you can't limit someone's right to say what they think. If you don't like his comments on this blog, then have enough balls to speak your mind. Don't boycott it like a little baby.
On To The Real Topic:
Keep raising money Beebe, especially if it will keep Asa out of the running.
Has anyone questioned how much the Stephens or local big pocket Repubs in AR or across the nation have given Asa? Don't forget his Washington buddies who have made recent speeches at college campuses.

It would help if Mr. Pritt had a track record of telling the truth!

Have you seen this before? It's a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 63326, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
