Cheney directed leak
Murray Waas, the National Journal correspondent who is a former Arkansas Times contributor, has been breaking a lot of the news surrounding the Valerie Plame leak investigation. His filing today directly implicates Vice President Dick Cheney in the leak, which was apparently designed solely to discredit an administration critic (who happens to be Plame's husband).
Vice President Dick Cheney directed his then-chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, on July 12, 2003 to leak to the media portions of a then-highly classified CIA report that Cheney hoped would undermine the credibility of former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, a critic of the Bush administration's Iraq policy, according to Libby's grand jury testimony in the CIA leak case and sources who have read the classified report.

Classified information has been leaked to the press routinely by every administration in the history of our country. In fact, without leaks, you press guys would not have anything to write about. Your insinuated outrage at the Bush administration for leaking to the press is indeed a humorous double standard. Just go ahead and admit it--anything that Bush does is bad. Anything that a Democrat does is good. I'm really sick of your cynacism.

there is a problem with the fancy new website: people can still post anonymously.
and there is still a problem with the bush administration leak: at best it is a below the belt political attack at worst it is an out righ crime. i am for a leak when it delivers information of vital importance to the public. do you know why the plame leak doesn't qualify? because it did not advance the pre-invasion war debate. instead of engaging Wilson on the points and issues, the administration attacked him personally. They have so much as admitted it.
and bush said he would find this leaker and deal with him or her, no matter who it is. if he doesn't he is a flip-flopper; i'll say it to his face if they ever let me out of the fenced in free speech zone 4 miles away.

Well, I'm not the press guys but...everything this administration has done has been a big screw up: The Iraq war, the Iraq occupation, corporate welfare for the pharmaceuticals (otherwise known as the Medicare thing), Katrina, Social Security, Dubai Ports deal, Valerie Plame leak, the deficit, illegal wiretaps on American citizens? I honestly can't think of one successful thing Bush has done as president. And, trivializing the Plame crap by saying ?It?s just normal politics? is just wrong.
I just don't understand blind allegiance to any party or politician. I do understand that the fanaticism displayed by most of the so-called Kool-Aid drinkers is scary.
On the other hand, I can?t think of many Democrats worth defending.

hmmm...question marks abound. Oh well, it's sufficiently understandable.

Can you imagine the conniption "Anonymous" would be having if a Democratic administration had outed anybody connected to the CIA?

That's a great photo of Cheney. It's so life-like.

He outed a CIA agent for purely political purposes!!! There is NO excuse for that! And another reason this is such a BIG issue is King George's continued whining about leaks that hurt him. He's the one that says no leaks are acceptable, but then he directs Cheney to leak information?!?!? Our President and his administration are a bunch of idiots! I cannot believe these people who still stick up for them, after all of their crap, when they got so up in arms over a freakin' BJ! So let's see... BJ=bad=impeachment.... outing a CIA agent, lying to convince America to enter a war, which has caused thousands of AMERICAN deaths, and many more injuries, illegal wiretapping, etc.= KIng George is God and can do what ever he wants.
This admins has not done ONE good thing since they have been in charge... not ONE!!! Somehow they even managed to bungle America's response to 9/11. But I guess most Repubs think getting on a bull horn and giving a couple of good one-liners (which is a miracle for this President) makes this President one of the greatest ever.

Anonymous...Amen!
I couldn't agree with you more. I have never seen a positive article about a repulblican in this liberal rag. However, I do enjoy reading the comments from these dumbasses purly for the entertainment value.
ARK. BLOG: You need to read more carefully. Once in a while a Republican does something praiseworthy. Huckabee most recently in not rolling over on saving inadequate high schools. We praise them when they deserve it. As for the Bush administration please enlighten us on something we could say positive about that gang of dishonest screwups.

No matter what I or anyone will say, you will spin it. Like, isn't our unemployment at the lowest point in the last 15 years or so...oh, I forgot, Bill Clinton is somehow responsibiel for this, right?
Isn't the economy booming right now...oh, again, Bill Clinton must be responsible somehow.
Also, any terrorist fly any planes into buildings lately...oh I forgot, that must have been Bill Clinton's policy that is making us safer.
The point of the matter is, no matter what GWB does, he is wrong in your eyes...and no Democrat does any wrong. I think there are good and bad with both parties....you only seem to focus the attention on the liberal spin on issues that, in the end, you use to label them dishonest screwups. I always respect your opinion, but it has to be taken with a grain of salt since you are so anti-republican and so pro-democrat!

"Your insinuated outrage at the Bush administration for leaking to the press is indeed a humorous double standard. "
Sorry Anon, what is double dealing and not humorous is the shrub's consistent lies about the leaks in his mis-administration.
In addition, Israeli Intell is outraged at the shrub for his recent public disclosure of intell they gave him on the condition of strict secrecy. Not only is he Leaker-In-Chief, he is also Blabber-Mouth-In-Chief.

sticks and stones.......

Sticks and stones builds an intell tome,
'Til a shrub rents it asunder..

Actually, there was no crime committed by the disclosure of Ms. Plame as an employee of the CIA. She had not been "covert" for years and it was a well known fact that she worked at the CIA. Libby was not indicted for leaking her name. He was indicted for supposedly lying about it to prosecutors. Lets wait and see what happens before you convict him.

So Anonymous, if the leaking of the Plame name was no big deal, why did the CIA itself ask the Ashcroft Justice Department to look into the non-leak (your description, I figure)?
