On the radio

KUAR this afternoon has items on a new Ethics Commission investigation of a complaint against Mike Beebe; an Arkansan's take on the movie "United 93"; and a report on Arkansas's first mumps case.

Is Hereschel Cleveland heading up that investigation?

Did Hathorn file the complaint against Mike Beebe to get more publicity?

The next thing they need to investigate is the money that Andy Crawford, Ron Fuller etc... are giving to people to give to Mike Beebe. I have recently come to understand how Mike Beebe has managed to raise so much money and it involves people who have maxed out funneling money through others. Somebody should investigate.

It was announced today that Laura Bush will be speaking a mere 3 blocks from the DBI family compound. Our family project this weekend is to determine if all 5 of us will be rounded up and held all day Tuesday. And if not, how can we as a loving family find a way to make her visit as unpleasant as possible. No wait.....the goal is not to make things unpleasant.....just get the message across that her husband is killing thousands and screwing up the world

I have one daughter on the Wal-Mart site looking for those very loud air horns. The other daughter is finding old sheets in which to "we're not glad you're here" messages to be draped on our fence. Ma is telling me how Mamie wasn't all that either. The wife is contacting our lawyer and I am basking in the joy the preparations for this visit have already brought me.

We wouldn't hurt a hair on Laura's head, but we do think she needs to think hard about the kind of man she has been married to all these years. No one has ever spoken great things about Mrs. Al Capone. You never hear how Stalin's wife was a real sweetie. Anyone married to a criminal for years bears the taint of that association. Laura can't play the Church Lady and be married to the likes of King George.

The trick here is to practice lots and lots of freedom of speech and yet not get arrested. Hmmmmm....there has to be a way to work this out where we'll be happy and Laura will leave Fort Smith embarrassed for the last 5 years of misery dealt by her husband. Wonder if she thinks about torture, or kidnapping. Wonder what her take is on Jeff Gannon/Guckert?

I'd much rather wave an ugly message at King George. I feel a tiny bit rotten picking on a woman. Wish it was her old sow mother in law......but you protest at what you get. Satan Cheney was here a year ago and the motorcade went so fast I could even un-holster my eggs in time. There are speed limits in this town!

This is going to be a busy week! The giant Mexican school out, work skip and rally on Monday. Then Pin the Tail on Laura Tuesday. Too bad Huckabee or Asa aren't going to be in town on Wednesday or Thursday........ think there's a ghost of a chance Rummy and Condi will fly into Fort Smith on separate planes on Friday? No, only the Iraqis are that lucky.

Oops....looks like I got off subject. Anyone know if Laura has been tested for the mumps?

Hey Ark. Times - why don't you sue the AG's office for refusing to answer FOI requests concerning illegally prepared campaign speeches and campaign meetings. They claim that even illegal documents are protected under work product. If that is the case then we can never get anything. I agree with your suing of Huckabee but Beebe is screwing the FOI laws and nobody in the mainstream press seems to care. - so much for principles.

Hutchinson Pal Kenneth Starr Attacks Corporate Fraud Law

WASHINGTON (AP) - A constitutional challenge by conservatives to the law that reshaped corporate governance after a wave of business scandals likely will end up before the Supreme Court, attorney Kenneth Starr says.

The legal action that Starr is mounting against the Sarbanes-Oxley anti-fraud law is one of a trio of assaults targeting it, as small companies push for regulatory exemptions and some lawmakers prepare legislation to change it. With memories fading of the corporate fiascos of 2002 that began with Enron Corp.'s collapse, opponents of the law and its mandates on public companies and the accounting industry are banking on a changing political climate.

Starr, the former special prosecutor who led the Monica Lewinsky and Whitewater investigations of President Clinton, is one of the attorneys bringing the federal court case on behalf of a pro-business conservative group, the Free Enterprise Fund. They are challenging the board established by the 2002 law to oversee the accounting industry, arguing that it violates the Constitution's mandated separation of powers among the three branches of government.

DBI, old son, I have some old sheets but I can't afford gas to drive up this weekend so I won't be any help.
But it wouldn't do any good anyway. Mrs. Bush probably is no more capable of being embarrassed than Bushie, unless you can get a Chinese lady to insult a visiting dignitary.
And the mumps idea is waaay too late. Daddy Bush should have had a bad case of them more than 60 years ago. (If I keep this up, I might end up in that gulag outside Midland along with you and your family.)

Doigotta, while I'd hate to give up my comfy bed and Tivo, I'd be honored to share a cell with you in Midland rather than just sit on my hands and do nothing while Bush & Co., ruin America and the world.

This is going to be interesting because I know there are a number of people within a half block of the church where Laura will be lying who are rabidly anti-Bush. For the record, none are violent people, so she is in no danger, back off FBI.

I sort of expect I will not be allowed to leave my yard. And won't that be a new twist to being an American. If ya don't hear from me on Wednesday please forward all mail to Midland or Gitmo or some Eastern European, former Soviet block country. I really rather Laura just stay home.......
