Snow shoveler
Looks like Fox News anchor Tony Snow will be named White House press secretary tomorrow.
ThinkProgress is rolling out the welcome mat with a list of choice statements Snow has made about President Bush. Here are some samples:
– “George Bush has become something of an embarrassment.” [11/11/05]
– Bush has “lost control of the federal budget and cannot resist the temptation to stop raiding the public fisc.” [3/17/06]
– “No president has looked this impotent this long when it comes to defending presidential powers and prerogatives.” [9/30/05]
– “Bush, for all his personal appeal, ultimately bolstered his detractors’ claims that he didn’t have the drive and work ethic to succeed.” [11/16/00]

Comments
I think they should just cut to the chase and named all of Fox News as Bush's press secretary, they have been for the last 5 years any way.
Tony Snow must like all that leather spanking S/M tie me up crap. No human in their right mind would like to lay down on Scott McClelland's old gurney and stick a used needle in his arm. But that's what Tony is fixin to do.
Perhaps on close inspection one might find a small scar on Tony Snow's head, evidence of a chip that has recently been placed in his head. Mind control is the only explanation for taking the job of lying for our lying President. Prayers should pray for Tony, his will is not his own, he is a fleshy walking talking Nintendo game of evil.
It will be refreshing to see a new face lying for Bush. Perhaps Tony can do a better job than Scotty, who mostly sweated and said the same thing over and over again like a fat kid cornered by bullies. Scott can now marry Jeff Gannon/Guckert and get that Midol monkey off his back.
My advice to Tony Snow, be careful what you say and how you say it or you'll be Bush's press secretary in prison too. President Exxon and VP Halliburton will soon be behind bars, so tread lightly Tony.
In all honestly I wish Tony Snow zero luck, zero best wishes and may every moment serving the crooks in the White House be a living hell for him, as living under Bush-Cheney is a living hell for all of us. I hope the money is fantastic for Tony, when you sell your soul you better get top dollar.
Now I'm off to see if I can Google up what happened to Hitler's last press secretary....history is a real bitch when it repeats...repeats...when it repeats......re

I second the motion. It would save time and effort if Fox would quit pretending it was anything but the Bush administration's mouthpiece.
The smugness of Britt Hume is...never mind, I'll be nice...for now.

Make Fox News the press secretary? DBI, it never ceases to amaze me how liberals can generalize so quickly. Did you not read the story? Did you miss out on the part where Warwick pointed out the venomous attacks on Bush made by Tony Snow, criticizing his fiscal irresponsibility, calling him an embarrassment qne impotent? Bill O'Reiley is another that the left loves to attack, yet he has been against the Bush administration for years, and also the Iraq War. Yes, Tony Snow is an admitted conservative, but that doesn't mean he's got a habit of defending Bush for the sake of it. For better or worse, President has asked him to serve. maybe he's going into the job thinking he might actually be able to have a positive effect in some aspect of policy. It might be a futile attempt, but isn't it worth a shot?

Tony Snow is one hell of a smart and smooth guy. His impact will go far beyond an improved ability to deal with the WH Press Corps.
He'll provide GWB with fresh insight and a renewed commitment to the values of his majority conservative base.
Brilliant move, Mr. President.

The only thing about Tony Snow that you need to know is that he used to fill in for that opiate-inebriated Rush Limbaugh for his radio show. Ditto THAT!

Bruno, it matters not to me if Tony Snow had been Queen Elizabeth's lady in waiting for all these years. My point is his job in the future will be to lie his ass off for pay for the most corrupt and incompetent administration in US history.
I would be saying the same thing if Norman Vincent Peel rose from the dead and became Bush's lying liver lips tomorrow. You can't possibly think the White House press secretary's job is to speak truth to power, ignore his script and actually tell the truth to the American people?
And shove that "fresh insight" crap, are you trying out for stand up comedian or something? This change of personnel is every bit as exciting as when Mom used to buy a new douchebag back in the 60s.
Come to think of it Tony will sorta be providing the same service to another Bush. Hmmmmmm....maybe that's what he's meaning by "fresh insight".

as i started to read the comments, i began scrolling down the page, skimming the first one. once i got to the 4th paragraph of nonsensical babble, i knew it was a DBI post and thus skipped the rest.
DBI, thanks for being predictable, long winded, and full of crap as usual.

I agree with Dickhead.
Tony is a smart guy and I enjoy watching him. One of the more objective members of the Fox News crew.
Which is why I listen when he says things like "George Bush has become something of an embarrassment."

I think Rupert Mudoch or Roger Ailes made the selection. Why not? But I am sure they ran it by Brother Pat and Brother Falwell first to get their blessings. Rev. Bob Jones was probably ignored and so sets up a possible hurling of divine thunderbolts by the shunned.

I gotta admit I've never watched FOX news and I have no Idea who this Tony Snow is. But I have C-SPAN playing on my office desk all day at work, so I know I'll have the "pleasure" of seeing him soon enough.
DBI is right. It makes no difference who the press secretary is, they are all just the same administration mouthpieces taking care to do as they're told, nothing more, nothing less.

I did find this in an AP NEWS report about Snow:
"One factor in Snow's decision is he had his colon removed last year and underwent six months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer. He had a CAT scan last week needed to consult with his doctors about taking the White House job."
Posted by: Cato | April 25, 2006 08:00 PM
IWD, saying that Snow is one of the more objective members of the Faux News Team is like saying Josef Mengele was one of Hitler's more compassionate henchmen. Objectivity is simply checked at the door when one works for Rupert Murdoch.
Stating that Bush is an embarassment is nothing more than simple acknowledgement of a glaring reality.
If you believe that there's ANY objectivity at that Journalistic Craphole, you need to hop up from the Barcolounger, turn the TeeVee off for a few weeks and read.

A few years ago Snow was described in "The New Republic" as a "sparsely circulated right-wing crank."
So what's new?

Two thoughts here. I'm thinking doctor's removed Snow's colon and replaced it with a sophisticated electronic mind and body control system that can be run by remote control from Satan Cheney's office. So Snow had no choice but to take this job. He'll also not be picking his own breakfast in the morning either.....Satan will probably make him eat prunes or something gross just because he can.
If that's not the case then it's obvious that Snow is dying and has crappy insurance and so has to take this thankless liar job so his family won't be living in the streets after his passing when all medical bills come due.
With colon cancer we'll know which it is before Bush is out of office. Unless Christmas comes early and Bush-Cheney get hauled off to prison or a war crimes tribunal. There is always hope.
At least Lying Little Scotty will be gone soon....that makes me happy, very happy. It will take me a while to develop a strong hate for Tony Snow....but I'm sure I can do it. I sure wish someone could stop the madness.

Thanks Cato, for clearing up Snow's motivation.
That most American of all motivations for conservatives accepting a job in public service: Comprehensive health insurance. The only way to get it (especially if you have a previous condition) and continue to deny it to everyone else.

Yep Bruno G, the story was read. So how ta hell can a person who said what Snow said get the job he got?! Is the house of jokers masochistic now? Or do they expect Snow to morph into shrubbie clone because of the nutwork he oozed from?

Maybe, maybe not. But DBI's 'crap' is always, but always entertaining and usually memorable. Alas yours, I forget your name, has the staying power of a fart in the wind. (I'll try to remember your name next time.)

I realize it would be uncharacteristic of this administration (and that is a vast understatement) to hire anybody but a "yes man," but maybe somebody over there has wised up to the fact that they could use a little constructive criticism. Tony's past attacks on the Bush Admin. might have been viewed as a positive factor at this point. When your poll numbers are further in the tank than ever, it's time to hire some people who don't always agree with you...and aren't afraid to say it.
Posted by: Bruno G. | April 26, 2006 09:24 AM
And it could be that the Bush administration couldn't find a living soul on the planet who hasn't said something nasty (and 100% true) about King George.
They would then have to go down a list of who said the least nasty and true things and pick from them. And Bush much like God has no interest in constructive criticism......you must be joking.
Posted by: Deathbyinches | April 26, 2006 09:44 AM
Death as usual has his head up his ass this morning.
Snow took the gig on the condition that he get direct access to the President and participation in major policy making meetings.
Bush knows Snow has been critical of him. It takes a big man to hire someone who has been critical of you in public.
Bush is smart enough to understand he needs to broaden his circle and that his team is tired after 6 grueling years in the White House.
Good on him.
Posted by: DickheadByInches | April 26, 2006 09:50 AM
Oh my....little name stealer...you make 2 statements that are impossible to find a fact to support. Tony Snow's input is wanted by Bush to the same degree the rest of us wish for cancerous tumors on our chin. Bush is wildly allergic to facts and advice.
And using "big man" and "smart enough to know" in the same sentence with the name Bush is hilarious. The Decider will be studied by scientists for decades after his death as they slice his cells wondering how they ever managed to get a foot inside the door of the White House. King George would make a lousy cab driver. (many apologies to cab drivers everywhere)

Can anyone believe what the press secretary says anyway? Clearly, Scotty the Body wasn't even in the loop. After all, he talked with Scooter Libby and Karl Red Rover and assured us all they were square...c'mon...

If that is suppose to be an insult little man, you failed miserably.

Hey Ark Blog!
Why are you posting about relatively inconsequential items and skipping the main threat to the economic survival of the state?
I am refering to the ROCKETING HOMICIDE RATE in the capitol city.
This affects the economy as no other issue can. Housing prices, new business recruitment, tourism you name it.
The mayor and the police chief are busy down playing it instead of adressing it. It sounds like Mayor Barry in DC "if you take out the death and killing, the crime rate is down!"
I guess there are less pickpocketing and jaywalking and that is what I am concerned with.
Where is our media and why are the mayor and cheif of police not hounded on this?
The trend is way up and it is up steady. Why have we gotten to late April and the best we can get out of the mayor is that if we don't slow the killing the convention business is going to be affected.
Ark blog, do your duty and get this issue out there!
