Rumsfeld under fire
The departure of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld from the Pentagon has been predicted many times before. But the latest developments seem by several degrees more ominous for him:
An expanding group of influential former military officers is calling for Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's resignation in a public rebellion that has become a significant challenge to the Pentagon's civilian leadership.
The uproar is significant because for the first time the criticism of Mr. Rumsfeld is coming from some recently retired generals who were involved in planning or execution of Iraq policy.

And what difference will Rummy's departure make?

Interesting interview on Terry Gross today about how Rummy and Cheney hijacked the Ford administration and dragged it to the right, despite Ford's desire to have a centrist, unifying presidency. These guys have been doing evil for decades. Similar to the famous quote of George Wallace, they evidently vowed never to be out neo-conned again.

Old news. Rummy won't leave until 20 January 2009, if then.
He is an outstanding SecDef, probably the best we've ever had.
Elections have consequences. We won. You lost. Get over it.

Don't get your panties in a wad, Rummy ain't going nowhere. It would be like Christmas in April, but pig-headed King George will give up Gannon/Guckert before he shows Rummy the door.
These guys see stuff like that as a show of weakness. If Rummy drops dead Bush-Cheney will prop him up like a Weekend at Bernie's. And of course Rummy might run the war better in death than he has in life. It's still a whole bunch of our kids dead, not one inch towards victory.
This is what happens when people who ran from war in their youth decide to wage war as adults. They know as much about war as I do fallopian tubes. So, I'm not good in bed, their ignorance has killed thousands with no end in sight.
Rumsfeld makes me wish I believed in hell. It would be such a warm and fuzzy feeling to think he'll roast for eternity. If the Democrats don't win big in November we will have Rummy for life and if you're military age....that might only be a year or two for you....
Make like Howard Dean and scream bloody murder at these neo-con bastards who are ruining the world!

The Republicans on this blog never reply on topics that explicitly point out Republican failure.
They're only bold enough to post on topics such as the "Sum up the Democrats in Ten words" entry.
Weak. Just weak.
Just goes to show that they have no base in logic or reason, only ad hominem attacks...

He won't go. Running the Administration is too big a job for
Cheney to do alone.

What's really sad is that we've allowed these two bitter failures from another based-on-lies war (Cheney/Rummy/Vietnam) to take yet another generation of young people into another futile war.
Rumsfeld is an incompetent Secretary of Defense who mistakes blind arrogance for strength and courage. Though firing him may not serve any practical purpose, it'd be nice to witness even a tiny crumb of accountability in this administration

Not to worry, Rummy has a new puppet perched on his knee--Gen. Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff--who is refuting that gang of disgruntled retired generals. Rummy and his new puppet keep on lying while the soldiers keep on dying...for a lost cause.

Where is a good swift boat crew when you need one. Problem may be too many targets.

They can't get over it. They'll never get over it. That gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

Maybe it's because we're too busy attacking the speculation offered as hard fact by the administrator of this blog.
The real accurate statement would be: This blog is not as fun as it used to be because we now have conservatives who mix truth in with the lies we've been so comfortable with over the years.
People are attacking our chief circle-jerker, deathbyinches, and calling him on his venomous rants.
Go away you....you.....you.....MORALISTS!

How can Christian Conservatives continue to defend liars? Hunkawhatever, you got an answer for that? Isn't your brotherhood founded on faith and truth? And yet I see over and over again the likes of your's defending the undefendable. At some point, just like in any family that is in trouble...you gotta step up and administer some tough love. They lied and continue on multiple fronts. The crashing of the Conservative movement will be laid upon the feet of the apologist who were unwilling to clean their own house.

Crazy right wing christians: deconverting Christians since Galileo proved the earth was not the center of the universe.
Kill over 30,000 Iraqs + ~2500 soldiers (30,000 by Bush's estimate, over 100,000 by Johns Hopkins University as of October 2004) ===== Not a big deal! Fvck logic! Hurray for pseudo-compassion! Fvck being Christ like.
PRrraise Jee-Suhs-uh!
Saying you love jesus is good cover for doing whatever the hell you want, no matter how immoral it is.

I think y'all are overrating Rumfeld's importance. It's Cheney and Rove who are calling the shots and making the actual decisions. Dubya just signs off on whatever they stick in front of him. Amusingly enough Rumsfeld is actually the closest thing to a real executive in the crowd--but his problem is that he's attempting to execute a ridiculous and impossible policy. Rumsfeld is sort of like a computer, but when it came to Iraq, "it does not compute."
