The latest on the race for governor
Somebody asked about the latest Rasmussen poll on the race for governor. Here it is:
Democrat Mike Beebe leads Asa Hutchinson (R) by 11 points in the race to succeed Mike Huckabee as Governor of Arkansas.
Beebe currently earns support for 47% of the state's Likely Voters while Hutchinson attracts 36% support. A month ago, Beebe led by ten points. In January, he held a six-point lead.
While support for Attorney General Beebe has remained stable in all three election polls we've conducted in the state, Hutchinson's support has fallen by 2 percentage points a month.

Comments
"Hutchinson's support has fallen by 2 percentage points a month."
It would seem that the more the voters of Arkansas are exposed to "ASA!" they are asking themselves "ASA???"

"Ask and ye shall receive." Thank you AT, I'm now well armed to goad a too smug repub.

Beebe will win if the decrepit voting machines don't screw him over. Too bad for him the Democrats put them in place.
Anybody else read what those machines did in 9 states' primaries?

Asa is going to have to go negative much earlier than he planned. That strategy is risky. People still remember that Asa is Ken Starr's boy, and his DC roomate, brother/defeated Senator Tim was not a family values guy.

http://arkblogs.com has had that up since yesterday. Y'all are slipping...

Here I thought all Asa! had to do to go negative was show up. Maybe I'm reading to much into his negative poll numbers.

I'd rather be where Beebe is than where Asa is. But there are six months to go. Still, his desperation in recent days suggests his own polling shows the same.

Very simple. In the last year or two Beebe hasn't been caught with a dead girl or a life boy and no Democrat in the nation has pulled anything real stupid or crooked.
On the other hand King George Bush and VP Satan Cheney & Company have been on a down hill slide like has never been seen before in this country.
Secretary of Defense Donald "Rummy" Custer still can't find his ass with both hands and our kids continue to die in steady numbers. Jack Abramoff is busy singing a crooked song about half the Republicans in Congress. And now dear dear Scooter is bringing down Bush-Cheney-Rove in an effort to save his hide from prison.
To counter this Asa! would have had to give both kidneys to dying kids and have found a cure for cancer.Even if Asa! didn't have glaring flaws of his own, his party is sinking him on a daily basis. He just picked the wrong time to be a Republican running for office. Roll of the dice you understand.
Asa! needs to be content with staying in DC and getting rich being a lobbyist and sitting on the board of a bunch of penny stock companies trying to strike gold selling some gimmick to the Department of Defense. When he gets rich enough he can pay people to stand and clap when he enters any room and Arkansas will be better off without him.

If you read the entire article, it says BB has a 65% favorable but that only translates to 47% support. By all indication, he's a popular state wide office holder with name recognition but that's not translating. I wonder why?
We know the Dems are energized and you can count on them being included in both the 65% and 47%. There was a day when energizing the Democratic base would take you over 51%. It looks like those days are over. Interesting poll results, not in how most on this site are looking at it but for other reasons.

"When he gets rich enough he can pay people to stand and clap when he enters any room and Arkansas will be better off without him."
Just like Beebe. Since you are just to stupid, or otherwise not informed into the innerworkings of a state wide race, I will inform you.
Beebe pays people to walk in his parades. He buses minorities in when he needs them, pays them throws some food at them.
Beebe paid a boatload of money for a "informal" filing in which he claims that his supporters just happned to show up for. Wrong. A lot of money was paid to make that happen, not just people "believing" in hm making in happen.
Everything that Beebe does is fake. What does it say about a person when they have to be paid to "believe" in him?
Well I would say that is the same kind of person that would pay for a person to vote for them.
Would not put it past that slim ball Beebe.
As for you Death, Happy Easter.

Why would anyone vote Republican???? The only thing they're competent at is evil.
Some may argue that the person is more important than the party. I say, if you sail under the pirate flag, you get treated like a pirate.

Beebe invited people to his filing ceremony.

You know how you can always spot a Rethuglican like "LWood"? Rethuglicans think you have to pay money to get people to come to events.
Democrats since the beginning have taken our cause to the people. Whats even more amazing is we are the party that is the fiscally prudent party.
Who believes in deficit spending and who gave us a surplus for the first time?
Closer to home, which party pulled out all the stops to unsuccessfully pass a bond initiative that would have bankrupted the state?

WOW!!!! Is that John Kerry or Mike Bebee in the picture????

Asa's handlers will find some way to exploit some groundless fear or simmering hatred with enough success to turn the tide. I don't yet know what the magic issue will be, but I have full faith in the effective evilness of the Republican Party and, equally, in the utter stupidity of my fellow citizens.

Thanks for posting this, because I must have missed it in the Arkansas Democrat.
Wonder which of the two stock responses we'll get from the Hutchinson campaign, the poll methodology is flawed or the reporter of the story is a Beebe partisan? It must be getting more difficult to keep a straight face when they attack every poll and pollster in the country the way they went after Janine Parry, but I imagine they'll keep trying that strategy through November.
ARK. BLOG We had a similar thought. But .... we also agree with an earlier poster and others in the opinion research field who say the numbers for Beebe are somewhat tepid -- all positive factors weighing for him being considered. Not tepid enough to put the outcome in grave doubt at this minute. But it's a long way until November.

REL....lol....I wouldn't be so quick to compare Mike Beebe to John Kerry. Though both are men who served our nation in uniform. But the similarities between ASA! and John Kerry are keen as well to the political observer.
* Both are unusually tall & slender men.
* Both have made millions while working and living in Washington, D.C.
* Both have campaigns that get off on tangents, are listless, and eventually lose whatever advantage they had in the first place.
Beebe has :
* Built a record serving the people of Arkansas for twenty-four years.
* Was a reformer in the State Senate who was a strong fighter for ethics.
* As Attorney General has been a friend to consumers and elderly Arkansans.
* Has so far faced only two opponents in his career....both wisely withdrew before they got beat.

Can someone stop Drew Pritt from spewing so much incredible nonsense?
I guess you withdrew yourself Drew before you got your brains stomped out May 23rd with 2% of the vote. Good move.

Drew, your link pops an article that says Beebe was a political opponent of Nick Wilson who desired some of the power Nick had. It does not event hint, much less document, that Beebe worked for reform or ethics. Based only on this article one might infer that Beebe wanted to become the *new* Nick Wilson.

In 1987 when Wilson was Senate president pro tem, each of the men questioned everything the other did. Wilson was third in line for the governor's job and it meant Clinton was very careful about making sure then-Lt. Gov. Winston Bryant, who for the record is a Democrat, was in the state whenever Clinton left town. The governor's departures were great that year because it was during his first serious look at a possible presidential campaign. Once when Wilson did acquire the governor's power for a weekend, he fired Clinton's chief of staff, Betsey Wright, and vetoed several bills.
It was about that time that a trio of Democratic senators emerged as firm opposition to Wilson. Sens. Mike Beebe of Searcy, Morril Harriman of Van Buren and David Malone of Fayetteville were in place and ready in 1989 when then freshman state Sen. Vic Snyder, now a Democratic congressman from Little Rock, decided to block funding for an office complex Wilson wanted for his think tank operations.

There's one and only one reason Beebe is ahead in the polls. He hired Mica Strother. Honestly, she may be the most beautiful person in the state....i mean, next to The Baz. Wait, what were we talking about? I lost all train of thought. Oh yeah, something about Drew Pritt.
Posted by: The Baz | April 17, 2006 03:11 PM
Drew, we can all read. Again, your post says they provided Wilson with opposition, but nowhere indicates a push for reform. Franco and Hitler weren't friends, but we don't remember Franco as a reformer. (Morril Poultry Harriman certainly is no one's poster child for legislative reform.)

Theodosius, I could sit here and list a litany of the times that Mike Beebe has stood as a force for ethics.
I can remind people he fought not just Nick Wilson, but worked with progressive reformers like Jay Bradford and Vic Snyder to make our state better.
I could even argue the positive effects of his tenure as Attorney General.
What it comes down to is this simply.
Mike Beebe has earned everything in his life. He has done so with class, dignity, and a concern for the lowest of the low. He has served quietly in the Episcopal Church and never sought recognition. He has been there for our state time and time again. People like him, Snyder, Bradford, and Kevin Smith to name four were State Senators who gave many who didn't have a voice - representation and a voice in government. Mike Beebe has been honest and forthright. Finally in his campaign for Governor, he has inspired people to a better life. He has sought to bring our state's varying interests and communities together as one. He has challenged us to be better and seek a better life. Most of all he has made the commitment to work with us in this state to get to that better state.
Asa Hutchinson has in no way done this in his career or campaign.
The choice is simple - Mike Beebe deserves to be our next Governor the old fashioned way - HE'S EARNED IT!

ASA! is going to answer, many times, the question of whether he knew Tim was F-ing his girlfriend while ASA! was prosecuting the POTUS for cheating on HIllary. The hypocrisy of the Hutchinson family is astronomical.
