The lying liars
Krugman today in NYT:
Now it can be told: President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney based their re-election campaign on lies, damned lies and statistics.
The lies included Mr. Cheney's assertion, more than three months after intelligence analysts determined that the famous Iraqi trailers weren't bioweapons labs, that we were in possession of two "mobile biological facilities that can be used to produce anthrax or smallpox."
The damned lies included Mr. Bush's declaration, in his "Mission Accomplished" speech, that "we have removed an ally of Al Qaeda."
The statistics included Mr. Bush's claim, during his debates with John Kerry, that "most of the tax cuts went to low- and middle-income Americans."
Compared with the deceptions that led us to war, deceptions about taxes can seem like a minor issue. But it's all of a piece. In fact, my early sense that we were being misled into war came mainly from the resemblance between the administration's sales pitch for the Iraq war — with its evasions, innuendo and constantly changing rationale — and the selling of the Bush tax cuts.

Comments
Bring all these lies to light, and clobber us with them 24/7--won't make any difference. This gang of fascist war profiteers will hold onto power using every means at their disposal, including the very election machinery itself.

RE: "Posted by: Once A Citizen, Now A Subject".
Citizen is absolutely correct. We have been clobbered 24/7 with the lies and failures of GW and his Repugs without any change.
All it takes to keep the "base" happy is a reference to homosexuals and the apparently non-existant national security.

Now it can be told? Anybody with half a brain knew that these people were lying while the words were spewing out of their mouths.

Speaking of taxes. There's an excellent article on marriage tax penalties also in the NYT's today. Take it from an old tax person it's a problem.

filing shouldn't be available to couples who lead
independent financial lives.

Yes, apparently all that really matters are abortion, gays trying to marry and stopping Hillary. Silly us for thinking our lying, warmongering president is a scourge.

The present age, back to Saint Ronnie, doesn't indicate that we deserve much.

Speaking of taxes, those "death tax" ads are running again stating all the families that are going to be hurt and all the small farms that the government is going to take over. Never let the truth get in the way of a good lie. The biggest example of the group that is winning is the membership of "The Club for Growth". If you aren't a multi-millionaire, you need not apply. Too bad the truth in advertizing rules don't apply or they would have to run corrective ads stating that the death tax only applies if you estate is in the millions and don't apply at all to the spouse of the deceased. BTW, if you have that much money or property and haven't established an estate plan, you are too dumb (too cheap) to keep the money.

I remember an early Dailey Show just after the 04 election where Lewis Black was doing one of his commentaries. You may remember it, he said something like:
"Well the election of 2004 is over and the voice of America has spoken and what a voice it was. I'd attempt to recreate that voice but so as to not offend the retarded I won't"
True then and true now.

Nothing new to me. As stated before, anybody with half a brain knows this admin. has been lying since the beginning.
But I disagree with how the 24/7 campaign will not work. The problem is not coming up with a 24/7 message. You have to narrow your message. The Dems are all over the place. Even though they are correct with all they are saying, they need to pick one or two things and stick to those. That's how the Repubs have succeeded. They (ALL the Repubs) CONSISTANTLY tell the same lie so many times that the rest of America believes it, especially since most of America only occasionally watches the news. All the Dems have to do is pick a subject, and ALL of them have to tell the TRUTH about the lie for a long period of time, not just one week and then move on.

quelle surprise!! these guys lie
like others breathe
they lie, they're incompetent.
the rest is just commentary.

I have to say again, there isn't much the average American can do about Bush-Cheney. As I see it the only 2 weapons I have in my arsenal is my vote, and Diebold ruined that, and a mail order rifle with a scope, and we see how well that turned out for Lee Harvey Oswald.
If we are to be rid of the Bush-Cheney Crime Family, we need to use our votes, sure, but we also need the help of Senators Lincoln and Pryor. THEY have the tools to help rid America of this pox upon all our houses. THEY, by the fact that we elected them, put our trust in them and pay them handsomely have a job to do when things fall apart in our country.
If we go into the crapper it will be the fault of Lincoln, Pryor and all the other Democratic Congress men and women. Think of it this way, Bush and Cheney are the high-jackers on flight 93. Congress makes up the passengers. If Congress doesn't storm the cockpit door and overpower the high-jackers that airborne missile WILL hit the Capitol after all.
Help us Senators! Help or resign and let someone with courage take your places!

You democrats are like a bunch of screaming "me-me" tenaqers. You have to continue to hold a grudge.
Can't you just accept the fact that you got your ass kicked in the presidential election, and move on?
Put a period at the end of the sentence and move on to something else. This Bush/Chaney b/s that you keep coming up with is really getting old!

Does this mean Cheney gets impeached? Lying about a BJ will get you impeached. Lying about a leak seems fairly close.

"Can't you just accept the fact that you got your ass kicked in the presidential election, and move on?"
Excuse me? I guess you might be another one of those blind Repubs who keep failing to notice our country is falling apart. KING GEORGE didn't kick anyone's ass. He barely won! And there is ample evidence that he stole the 2004 election, just like 2000.
I will bet history will, accurately, portray Bush as a president who stole 2 elections.
Of course you will accuse me of whining, but every American should, when you have a man who is serving as President who never one a presidential election.

"...This Bush/Cheney b/s that you keep coming up with is really getting old!"
Bush/Cheney keep peddling BS; we couldn't 'come up' with this much crap if we tried...but their BS definitely getting old, as are the Bush/Cheney enablers.

This is what gives me such confidence that the left will never get control of our government again. They are so far out of touch with reality one can't help but to feel sorry for tham in a way, though.
