The one-party system
The Benton County Farm Bureau had a candidate's forum last night. Damnedest thing. From the NW D-G:
Emcee Ryan Anglin offered an apology to three candidates not present. The names of the candidates — Carole Westby, Robbyn Tumey and Lynn Carver — were inadvertently omitted from an invitation list prepared by the state Farm Bureau, and the three did not receive timely invitations, he said.
You knew, didn't you, that the only three legislative candidates who weren't invited are -- coincidence! -- Democrats.

Now, now! Everyone knows this is spring time, a very busy time for the farmers at the Farm Bureau. They're minds are on seeds and fertilizer and cow ticks and utter salve, water, sun, moon phases....a farmers work is very hard.
And these special farmers at the Benton Country Farm Bureau have it even tougher because they plant their corn one morning and the next morning there's a fancy new house sitting there. Plus they have to wear nice clothes and keep the doors open at the Farm Bureau.
A few more years of Wal-Mart driven growth and there won't be one square inch of farm land in Benton County and don't you think that takes up a lot of Farm Bureau farmer's thoughts?
They don't have time to worry about invites for 3 girl Democrats. After all, they're Democrats AND girls! Two things no Benton County farmer needs on their property.
And don't go getting the idea that the farmers at Farm Bureau are uptight, small-minded ninnies. Don't go jumping the gun and think they're anti-women or anti-Democrat or pro-anyone named Hutchinson. They're just busy thinking about planting, and combating pests, natural pests, not just Democrats. The life of a farmer is oh so hard, don't ya know.
I'm sure the Farm Bureau farmers will hurry to make amends to these 3 fine Democrat heifers as soon as they get their crops in the ground.
"My sturdy team goes swiftly round
And swiftly turns the fragrant ground."

I wonder what sort of cream DBI is referring to as "utter cream." Is it some sort of potion of the nth degree? Some concoction that is beyond imagination to mortals who have never been on a farm very often? Is it a heavenly brew that that you ingest, inhale, or paste onto the skin? Just what is "utter cream?"
Or did he mean "udder cream?"
