Why does Joe Klein hate liberals?

Eric Alterman raises the question in a post yesterday about Joe Klein (that's him in photo), the "Primary Colors" author who'll be at the Arkansas Literary Festival just in time to talk about his new book, "Politics Lost." Alterman writes that he was enjoying a recent talk on global politics until ....

That is right up until the very last moment when, after someone brought up the question of the whether the Democrats will be able to present an effective alternative to Bush in the next election, Joe Klein shouted out, “Well they won’t if their message is that they hate America—which is what has been the message of the liberal wing of the party for the past twenty years.”

Excuse me, but I think this is worth some attention.  It’s not about Klein per se, who after all, is best known to most Americans as the guy who lost his job at both Newsweek and CBS News for purposely misleading editors, readers and viewers in order to increase his own personal profit as the allegedly “anonymous” author of “Primary Colors.”  (He also [classily] attacked the reputation of the linguist who figured out his identity in New York Magazine.)  What is important, however, is the fact that Time is America’s highest circulation newsweekly.  And since it fired Margaret Carlson, Joe Klein, believe it or not, is its most liberal columnist.  That’s right.  The most liberal columnist at the America’s largest weekly newsmagazine pretends that the message of liberals for the past twenty years has been that they “hate America,” just as if he were reading from talking points issued by Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter.  (Don’t get me started.)

What does a famous Razorback basketball player have to do with a Literary Festival . . .?

Oh . . . Never mind. . .

The Republicans have a room full of evil elves that make up all kinds of sh*t. No doubt Karl Rove runs the operation, so many bad things have Rove written all over them.
But this rant about someone hating America....it's so absurd, yet it sticks with us no matter what, so it is in it's own way brilliant. Asking any American "Why do you hate America?", makes as much sense as asking someone why they hate their right foot. It's nearly impossible to be an American and hate America.
Oh yeah, I personally hate the Bush administration with all my heart....because their evil and do evil things. But that really has nothing to do with my love for my country. In fact because I love my country, I hate Bush & Co. It's abhorrent to me that the face we turn towards the rest of the world has a stupid smirk on it.
It's abhorrent to me that the word America is now associated with state of the art torture, invasion and death. Not to mention hypocrisy, egotistical, and incompetent. I am embarrassed for us all. I know my country is none of those things, I'm sure my government is all of those things.
However, a tip to all Republicans who avoid the discussion of the facts by screaming WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA, it might make you feel better, what it does for me is make me laugh at you.
People who say such a thing are morons. It marks one as a moron as much as a dunce's cap did a hundred years ago. So, buy a Dale Carnegie book and figure out how to be more effective if you're trying to hurt my feelings or win me over to your godforsaken side. I don't hate America, but I can't say the same about my feelings towards you.

tiny box...tiny box

Of dourse, Michael Moore is a voice of reason to you folks...we "shiites" understand where you're coming from!

Maureen Dowd is one who really gets to the real feart of matters too.

Yeah, we understand you people. So does the majority of Americans--it's why you can't win elections!

A quick Google tells me the wild feart lives only in Izard County, Arkansas. Long thought to be extinct, the first feart spotted in modern times appeared on Y.B. Loather's farm in Izard County in June, 1936.
Known to be of low intelligence, the wild feart is still rarely seen because of it's fear of light and it's natural habitat under rural septic tanks.
Rep. Jim Holt passed legislation in 2001 to offer Federal protection to the Izard County feart. But this did not prevent our Governor from eating one whole in his pre-diet days. "I thought it was a gift from Jennings", Huckabee later said.
So here's a tip of the hat to Izard County, home of the feart! Another reason to say, Kick Me, I'm from Arkansas!

And don't forget: Fearts Are Feral!

liberals don't hate America
they hate Joe Klein. Why?
Because he's a lying
two-faced back-stabbing
fourflusher and those are
his strong points

"Yeah, we understand you people. So does the majority of Americans--it's why you can't win elections!"
And we understand you too Hunkabilly. You steal elections, hide the truth, bash the vulnerable, hide behind the flag and destroy the country. Is that winning or stealing?

"Yeah, we understand you people. So does the majority of Americans--it's why you can't win elections! "

Well, we the people won an election in 2000. We just didn't own a Supreme Court that gave it to the other guy.

"Well, we the people won an election in 2000. We just didn't own a Supreme Court that gave it to the other guy."

I'm smiling and agreeing!

I would hope that there will be plenty of people available to make it clear to Joe how much us "America haters" hate him. What a shill, what a whore, what a complete worthless weasel of a human being, and those are his good points.

I'll bet he thinks he can get a pass in Arkansas. Typical beltway moron.
