Benton County politics

A Blog reader in Benton County responds to our call for community journalists to chronicle the passing scene. The striped mannequin appears near a sign promoting the sheriff candidacy of wildman Andy Lee. You have to be a careful observer of local happenings to get the whole tableau. Clearly, the inmate is not for Andy, whose sign is a few feet away. But the mannequin also bears a gang tatto, a subtle reference to Lee's campaign jab that the current sheriff didn't recognize a gang tatto on a suspect in a recent road rage killing.

AH - nothing like watching the religious, god fearing, family loving Republicans in Benton County go after each other like chained yard dogs. Do as I say, not as I do, the Republican motto.

Andy Lee is concerned about 1 thing: getting Andy Lee's name in the paper as much as possible.

I like Andy Lee, he may be misguided on that religion thing, but he's trys to help people.

Don't judge him just because he's a little 'different'. I will say this, he's got a great sense of humor which is more than I can say for a whole bunch of others in t his state that walk around looking like they are sucking on lemons.

I love Andy. I wouldn't want him as my congressman, but he is a great sherrif.

Lets see Benton County go ahead and elect Andy Lee as sheriff again! Its been kind of boring up there with the jail not being sued every few months for violation of the contitutional rights of some folks as was common when he was there before. I do declare, I suspect all them thar law suits hurt him in his quest to be US Marshall!

Oh look...Mr/Ms Anonymous brings up the numerous lawsuits against Andy during his tenure....The public has gone astray as to who the focus of the criticism of those lawsuits should be on...the people defending the inmates that sued the county for loss of privledges - from the inmate that was made a trustee and he tried to escape, so he sued the county b/c it was the sheriff's office fault for making him a trustee - to the inmate that sued b/c his TV was taken away (he was in jail for theft of a TV) - there were countless other ones as well - and to Andy's credit he didn't lose one lawsuit. It is the lawyers that actually represented those inmates in these rediculous lawsuits that should be criticized...the only thing Andy got sued for while in office that was really his doing was the posting of the 10 commandments. THIS WAS ONE LAWSUIT!! That is it.... He is a great leader that uses the press as a tool to keep the public aware of what is going on in Benton County. That in turn keeps those that choose to break the law aware of his presence as well.....The current Sheriff can't seem to do more than sit and react to our county's growing problems - we are growing too fast to not have a proactive leader in this office. Vote Andy.

I like Andy lee as well, I mean how many people can beat an indictment for selling County Equipment for methamphetamine???? Not to mention the selling of methamphetamine in the sherrif's office?
