Blues Traveler coming to LR

The owners of Sticky Fingerz Rock and Roll Chicken Shack, Chris King and Suzon Awbrey, are opening Rumba-Revolution in the big space that used to be Club Coconuts on the corner of Cumberland St. and Pres. Clinton Ave. in Little Rock's River Market District.
Rumba-Revolution will be a combination Mexi-Cuban restaurant (Rumba) and a live music venue (Revolution) with the space to hold crowds for the type of bands that wouldn't play at Sticky Fingerz because it was too small.
Looks like Revolution is following through on its concept, because King just announced that Blues Traveler will play there on July 25. Advance tickets will go on sale next week.

Little Rock continues to get warmed-over C list acts from the early 1990s, and we're supposed to be excited? I like Chris and Suzon but they're going to have to do better than this.

Warmed-over? C-list? I don't know if you've looked around the LR music scene lately Zippy, but there isn't much better in terms of medium sized venues. I'm sure Revolution will continue to bring the best and funkiest regional (and hopefully bigger) acts that Sticky Fingerz has drawn for a while now. BTW, I dare you to go to the Blues Traveler show. You'd be pleasantly surprised if you like good music at all. I like Zippy, but he's going to have to do better than this.

Zippy's way out of line.
This new club is significant in that Little Rock now has a music club of sufficient size to meet the demands of hundreds of acts that would otherwise drive straight through to other states. Hitchhiker Entertainment has done a good job at this, but they have to partner with venues bigger than Juanita's to do big shows.
The last time Blues Traveler played a club here was at some ill-fated place on Main Street ten or more years ago. The common denominator is capasity. The difference now is that Chris has the music promotion experience (not to mention business sense) to capitalize on routing. I expect to see bands playing at RR that pack venues twice its size in bigger markets.

I had dinner at the soft opening last week, and the food is great - the renovation is substantial and very well done, looks like a solid start, Congrats Chris and Suzon!

TJ,
I think Zippy's was more a commentary on Blues Traveler than the potential for the club. And I agree, someone other than BT would be more exciting.
And btw, BT has been to LR since the Blue Rock show, they played a little festival called Riverfest more recently...

The majority of the population of Little Rock wouldn't know a good music act unless it showed up at their church and had a barbecue.
Sticky Fingerz has been attracting some of the best live music in the country, well below the radar of the mainstream country or christian bullshit spoonfed to us by Alltel Arena.
Here's a tip: Go see a band you've never heard of, you just might enjoy it while supporting a hard-working club that is busting its ass to bring it here.
As far as Blues Traveler, just because they disappeared from MTV a decade ago doesn't mean they haven't been putting out albums and playing amazing live shows since.
Get a clue.

>>Go see a band you've never heard of<<
Like tonight: the bluehouse, a folk rock duo fronm Australia is at Sticky Fingerz. They're smart, funny, sing like angels, and can write and play incredible music. You won't be sorry.

Where are tickets available at?

Hooray for Chris King on setting up a fine, upper-capacity venue for Little Rock's music scene.
Sticky Fingerz is a fine establishment (as is Juanita's)however limited by its small size. Where do bands have to go after they sell out Sticky Fingerz or Juanita's? Until now, out of town! Alltel is way too large a jump and Riverfront Amphitheatre is only seasonally capable. This is the answer to the problem that's been stifling LR's musical growth for how long?
Come out and support this venue, I know I will. I just saw Blues Traveler for the first time in years at Beale St last month and they impressed me.
If you don't like them, come out for Big Smith (also coming in July) you won't be disappointed. The scene will only get better in time...

If you weren't there Tuesday SHAME ON YOU - we're NO BT fans, first time we'd heard them. If Zippy thinks they are "warmed over" she/he needs to get to the ER fast --- "pinhead?" Si!!! The sound was GREAT, the food is TERRIFIC (service still a work in progress, but at least they are WAY friendly) - did I mention the food is GREAT?!!!
As "professional audience" we're saying BT is rockin' out and we'd NEVER miss them again!! AND the 598 other people there for BT will take Zippy out to the woodshed...
