Critical mass
Time magazine reported it first in January, but the Marine killings of Iraqi in Haditha seem finally to have achieved the prominence the episode deserves, with lead position in today's NY Times on details of how the investigation evolved.

Story, smorey. This will blow over, and we'll still be up to our necks in that quagmire for years to come. It certainly doesn't matter to the U.S. chicken hawk war racketeers how much needless carnage results, all that matters is how big of a haul they can make off the "defense" contracts and, ultimately, The Big Prize--looting them oil fields!

I'm not sure why everyone is so shocked. When you occupy a country these are the things you do.
You knoiw how Southern hatred of the Yankees continues to this day, more than a century later? That's the way the Iraquis will see us.
Any fool who learned anything in history would have known this, but this administration never lets facts get in the way.

George "Mission Accomplished" Bush morphed into George "Katrina" Bush and is now becoming George "Haditha" Bush
Anyway you spell Bush it means ignorance, embarrassment, failure and death. Of course in every war, on both sides, there are atrocities like Haditha. I've read that there is another Haditha warming up in the bullpen as I type. War atrocities are another very good reason that a country should only go to war when all other means of settling a dispute have been exhausted.
I don't need Dan Rather, I remember when and how America went to war in Iraq. I watched Powell's little show and tell.....of lies. The weapons inspectors were hard at work, yet Bush started gathering up soldiers and weapons as fast as a 5 year old grabs his little box of toys when he finds out he's going to grandma's house.
Bush hopped, skipped and jumped to send our troops into battle in Iraq and he and Rummy decided they didn't need no stinkin armor. Now we are known as a nation of 1st strike. A nation of torture. A nation that looks for loopholes in the law so it can kidnap, torture and even spy on it's own citizens. Out it's own CIA agents. Let Halliburton and other big oil impoverish it's own people. Let big business import illegal aliens while it sends good American jobs to 3rd world countries. Bankrupting us all for the benefit of the few.
Fasten your seatbelts, for the next 6 months we're going to be treated to horrific pictures of Haditha. Little girl brains scattered across the floor. Stories of executing old unarmed people. I sickened and yet at the same time I hope this gut churning display of man's inhumanity to man might wake up some of the Wal-Mart shoppers who barely know there is a war going on.
If every American had to witness the day's carnage in Iraq, this war would be over before the 4th of July, a day we used to celebrate the grandeur and goodness of America.
Maybe a few buckets of kid brains and ripped off faces will wind up being good for us. This war has been sanitized and hell, as long as the folks back home have no ruffled feathers Bush-Cheney can keep us at war for the rest of time. 3rd term, no problem!
1 in every 142 Americans are in prison today. Yet everyone in the Bush administration is a criminal with a big paycheck and a chauffeured limousine to carry them around. What's wrong with this picture?
We should get our troops out of Iraq and the criminals out of the White House and Congress before the 4th of July. Then we face the long task of restoring America. We have no time to waste!

...and 1500 more troops sent into Iraq from Kuwait to help maintain order. That's a great idea, Mr. Rumsfeld. Let's fan the fire a little.

Viewing yesterday's riots, we can, of course, add the Afghans to that list, too.

Oh yeah....civil war in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time.....George "Haditha" Bush...the gift that keeps on giving.

Amen, DBI.
I do hope that the masses will wake up and smell the coffee.
THE. WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER. has gotten us into a pile of it and I don't know that the damage can ever be repaired.

But I feel so much better with "Haditha" Bush's "mindful" comments regarding the killings...
"I am troubled by the initial news stories," Bush said. "I'm mindful that there's a thorough investigation going on. If in fact, laws were broken, there will be punishment."
Now doesn't that make you feel better?

I think George "Haditha" Bush should seal the records for 45 days and let the rest of the world cool off.
If you'll notice, all 2454 DC investigations are getting nowhere. This is the first time in my life that I've realized that the way you stop someone from investigating you is to refuse to cooperate in any way. I thought that was a sure ticket to jail. But not in BushWorld.
