Riverfest record
Riverfest officials are putting attendance at 242,000, a record. Revenue should be up, too.

It was the best festival ever, and will only be topped by next year's 30th anniversary. Congrats to the team.

It WAS great this year. I only really attended the concerts, but I went every night! Kudos to those who put it together.

The last couple of times I went to Riverfest, it seemed to be the festival of who-can-wear-the-least-clothes-without-getting-arrested. But maybe that's a plus for some people.

Being an attendee of Riverfest, I must congratulate all the people involved in this wonderful event. I do not live in the Little Rock/No. Little Rock area, so this was a special treat. Kudos to the organizers, vendors, and the estimated 3,000 volunteers.
You folk sure do know how to host a fine party!!!!!

Parking was terrible...food and drinks were priced way high..finally been there, done that....I'm going to skip it next May and go on over to HSprings and the Lake thing...

Yeah, it's the only music festival I've ever been to that has its own currency. What a pain and a rip-off and a waste of time standing in all those lines.
But other than that, it was great!

Know "River Money" is a pain, but it only makes sense to funnel the real cash through trusted hands. When you're getting a percentage of food sales you need protection above and beyond all those vendors' word on how much they sold. And you don't need beer booth volunteers cramming cash in their pockets either. It's just the way it has to be, hassle or not.

River Money..... I prefer the term "River Rubles."
what a great weekend!

I had a blast. I thought that all of the volunteers were great, nice people, and knew where everything was and what was going on. I only wish that Pat Green had played longer.....
I was glad to see that it didnt rain. I cant wait to go next year....

I thought the reason for River Money was that either it doesn't all get spent, or it gets spent on something just so you don't go home with it.
If you can't sell it back, it's not "trusted hands," it's "sticky fingers" on the part of Riverfest.

Hey, they learned from the best, the Arkansas State Fair.

No, by far the most important reason for River Money is what I stated before. It's not like one company is running all the concessions. It's hundreds of volunteers and almost a hundred separate vendors. River Money keeps 'em honest. The percentage of River Money bought and not used is not that high

i know i read somewhere (on this blog i'm sure) that you were not allowed to bring umbrellas. i know i saw a few patio umbrellas. i hope this is something that is stopped next year.
i too hate river bucks, but certainly understand that this is the way it must be. i would like them to sell them in singles instead of groups of five. i had two bucks left over and could find nothing i wanted to buy for that much. i found lots of stuff for three though.
overall i had a wonderful time. train was great and so was morris day and the time

Sounds like everyone enjoyed it in spite of a few minor glitches.
Missed it this year (it wouldn't be the same without rain), but I usually dispose of any remaining "rubles" by giving them them to someone who is staying--some dad with a passel of neighborhood kids in tow, for instance. No one has ever turned them down.

I parked at War Memorial and rode the shuttle in, which was more than worth the $2 I paid for me and the missus. No complaints at all on that score, and saved the headache of trying to find a space around the River Market. The wife wishes more of the port-o-potties had been designated "women only", reasoning, probably correctly, that those would have been less icky at the end of the day. But the Nevilles sounded great, Dwight Yoakum put on a good show, and what I could hear of Live wafting across the river Saturday night also sounded good. A great time for $7.50, apiece, $8.50 if you add the shuttle. Kudos to the organizers.
