Tiger in town

First Tee kids got front row seats Monday when Tiger Woods put on a demonstration at Alotian Club as part of a charitable golf event to raise $1 million for five charities that were favorites of the late Jackson T. Stephens -- First Tee, UALR, UAMS, the Arkansas Arts Center and Episcopal Collegiate School. Alotian is the club created by Stephens' son, Warren, on hills overlooking Lake Maumelle.

Jim Harris, who'll be writing more about Woods' appearance in this week's Times, said Woods, though slowed by a cold, put on a good show. He was to play a few holes later at Alotian. He hits the little white ball a ways, we hear.

This is the first of five annual charity events at the club, each to feature a top golf pro as a drawing card.

Sure seems to me he's a little off-balance with that drive. Maybe he needs some coaching.

well...every news agency in town and several from out of town thought so. there was a tv crew from cincinatti, all of the local tv networks, Arkansas Business, NLR Times, two photographers from the Democrat Gazette, and the Associated Press along with a large section of reporters and photographers from Golf Magazines, and obviously the Ark. Times.

What's next? A charity event for polo?

Poetry in Motion -- Yes, that could be the reason for the off-balance swing. That said, such coaching shouldn't be from me. I looked only at the off-balance follow-through. I'm no golfer, but that club doesn't look like a driver. Call me not Ismael, but Wally.

Boring subject..move on...Now if Sam Hornish, Jr were firing up his Team Penske Marlboro Indy winning race car at 6th and Main, I would be the first one there...but a golf exibition way out highway 10? Naw... by the way..who is Tiger Woody?
