I know that all those fans of CSI out there will be shocked to learn this, but once in a while the creepy loser Goth kid really DOES kill somebody. The hicks vs. outsiders stuff plays really well in Hollywood, but the case really wasn't really all that complicated to begin with. Having said that, I don't think any of them needed the death penalty. I'm content for Damien to continue being the Belle of the Ball in the showers at Tucker for years to come.

Although I've agreed with you on some things, dogtownius, I disagree here.

It's not so much that the evidence against the WM3 is so compelling, it's that it's so anti-compelling.

The bloody Popeye's chicken guy, the goofy dad (stepdad?) and his mysterious dental work, shoddyshoddyshoddy police work? Too many red flags in this case.

These guys have spent ten years in prison. I don't think they're guilty of the crimes for which they've been convicted.

I meant also to question your comparison to the work of a cracker-jack tv crime scene investigation squad and the work of the West Memphis Police Department.

I have always had doubts about the guilt of these three. The very fact that the bugaboo of "devil worship" was used as a motive tells me that it's most likely a crock. Remember how "devil worship" and "satanic cults" were big boogeymen back in the eighties (and apparently in West Memphis into the nineties as well)? This would have been around the same time that aliens were mutilating cattle and every Halloween featured the horrifying rumor that a local (meaning wherever you were at the time) group planned to sacrifice a blonde haired, blue eyed girl on October 31st.

If you watch the HBO documentaries (especially the first), you will see that the father of one of the boys is much more likely to have been a threat, and should have been a suspect. His proximity to so many suspicious deaths is perplexing, to say the least.

Policemen will tell you that most murders are domestic, and 90% of murder victims know their killer. That a parent or neighbor molested and killed young boys is so much more likely than an organized "cult." Shades of Salem and Selma, if you ask me. . .

I grew up in Northeast Arkansas and have been connected, personally and professionally, to most of the major players in this case.

Over the years, I've gone back and forth over whether they did it or not. Perhaps with the movie coming out and this discussion started, people can help me out here.

For those who believe in their innocence, who is the most likely "real killer" and why/how was it done? I've heard claims that this person or the other might have done it, but only one group was found to have done so beyond a reasonable doubt.

For those who believe in their guilt, what about the evidence compels you to that conclusion? From what has been said over the years, there may remain some serious evidentiary questions.

These guys need a new trial. Now that the Satantic cult hysteria is gone and DNA testing has become more sophisticated, I think there are enough questions surrounding this case that justice would only be served by a new trial.

It's amazing to think these guys are still in jail when they are obviously not guilty.

For those still holding onto the original court's decision, you need to realize that as bad as you want somebody punished, the guilty party or parties are still at-large.

These three are guilty as hell.Jessie Miskelley confessed 3 times, twice after he was convicted. How many people do you know who would confess after they have been convicted. Damien Echols is a liar, hes a child murderer and a psychopath, Lorri Davis had to be out of her mind to marry him, or hard up. Mara's Book Devils Know is nothing but a fairy tale, like someone said Mara wasn't there.

I think this Hugh mann is as bad as the justice system. This whole case was corrupted and Iam damn sure the stepfather was the killer and the law is covering up for him and ,also believe all that convicted these kids for being different are just as bad as the murderer, and that they are all very hypocrticle in their religions.The Lord would never convict three innocent kids and most of all not put one on death row. If this country can convict someone because their different ,than that goes for most of the world. Iam sure each neighbor is different .That dont make them a murderer.They had no evidence so they make a case against innocent kids because they cant defend theirselves.Would they do the same to their own children if they were different.I really cant see how this jutice system can sleep at night. It's about time they produce something that may actually inform America about the modern day witch hunt that happened in West Memphis back in 94'. I was 16 in 1994 and I remember the news meda back then and how messed up and quick people were jumping at the chance to find a killer. So I say more power to Mara for being able to be a researcher and dig up the facts. By the way Mara was at the trials she is even seen in Paradise Lost 2 interviewing Burk Sauls of WM3.org and the rest of the supports.

Minnie, 19% of wrongful convictions include a false confession. Have you read the transcript of Jessie Misskelley's statement? It is the most inconsistant story ever told. I have studied this case throughly, and every time I go over the facts again I am amazed at the number of things wrong with this case and the handling. I dare someone to try and argue that the three are guilty based on the facts and evidence. I'll be sure to reply.

John Mark Byers has suffered for YEARS thanks to the two agenda-based movies made attempting to place a "guilty" spotlight on him. Not only did he lose his child to three horrific animals, he has had to endure his face and name plastered on the internet, along with people as far as Australia and the UK saying TERRIBLE things about him. Just imagine. You thought the Ramsey's had it bad over the Jon Benet case? Shame on the two film makers who created a life of HORROR for him and his family, and the other families who have suffered for years the outright lies and accusations of thousands of misled sheep. They are not allowed to have peace knowing that the three murderers of their little boys are where they belong, thanks to Devils Knot and the Paradise Lost movie makers.
Instead, they live day to day with accusations and questions flung at them, the praise HEAPED upon three vicious child murderers, knowing that all of this is due to two movies and one book.

If Paul Harris Boardman and Scott Derrickson choose to make a movie, I pray that it will, for the first time, show this case in a TRUE light. These families and this community have suffered enough.

My advice? Get the FACTS of this case before you spurt accusations. And the only way to do that is RESEARCH.

I dont remember seeing her in court and I was there EVERY day....hummm I guess maybe if some people dont really know the facts they can just make up what makes them feel all warm and fuzzy and to believe what ever makes a good story....sad
