Death in the garage
Ch. 40/29 has details (video, etc.) of a terrible accident in Rogers. A 14-year-old sitting in an SUV in the garage listening to music. Engine running. Car kicks into gear. Car rams aunt and grandmother sitting in chairs in garage. Grandmother dies.

Terrible, but someone needs to find out what happened...a late model vehicle cannot be put into gear unless the brakes are engaged. Am I right?

PJ,
I wondered the same thing. Regardless, it sounds odd that two adults were sitting in chairs in the garage. Not to mention that a teenager was in the vehicle WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING listening to the stereo.
I frequently sat in the car outside (no garage for me) as an angst-ridden teen listening to my car radio. Difference was, I never needed to actually start the engine to run that sucker.
My condolences to the family. It's an awful and tragic story.

A terrible tragedy, one which will affect the teen and her family for as long as they live. Perhaps she had the motor running for AC, but I, like another who commented, find it hard to understand how the vehicle was put into a forward gear accidently.
In re two people sitting in the garage in chairs, I have elderly neighbors who were accustomed to sitting on the porch. The new house they bought had no porch, but it had a two car garage. They would put their chairs in one bay and enjoy watching the world go by.
