Huckstering
AP catches up with The Huckster on our story about the jet ride he got from a fellow who gets millions in state business. It's an in-kind donation, sayeth the Bro. Gov., who has a bout of Karl Rove memory impairment syndrome on the question of whether the same patron has flown him other times.
Next story: How Sky Pilot Suhl of the Lord's Ranch spends the millions that come his way courtesy of the Huckster administration.

Comments
Sorry ... posted this on the other link about the airplane but with a mistake:
AP reports, "Huckabee said he does not solicit private individuals or businesses to provide aircraft."
Then how in the hell did The Lord's Ranch and Ted Suhl know about the gov's need for an airplane at that particular time. Did the Lord's Ranch make a blanket offer of the plane? Or is there a godslist.com, like craigslist.com, where the saved list their needs and wants?

Perhaps people just show up with planes and ask if he'd like a ride. Shit, Huckabee is every bit as crooked as Beebe.

Max:
Will you confirm that the Southeastern Asset Management (SAM) you refer to is SAM L.L.C. and not SAM Inc. of Memphis, TN-the very well-known investment managers?
ARK. BLOG All I know is what the papers say, a corporation registered in New Hampshire, directed by Ted Suhl, flown by a pilot from Hoxie

I've never been to Atlanta. I'd like a ride on the Lord's Airport plane, where do I sign up? John Boozman may not have asked Jack Abramoff for money, but he got some anyway. Is that how all this works? Do hookers ever give in-kind donations to the Governor's PAC, and if so can one of them ride to Atlanta with me?
I've had a couple of drug addicts for friends and they were basically pretty honest people despite their addiction. Why does political office seem to ruin everyone it touches? How will Huck explain this airplane mess to the people of Arkansas. How will he explain it to the Lord?
I'll be ready to go to Atlanta on Thursday the 22nd, please have the hooker and the plane at the FS airport by noon. Thanks in advance! Huckabee '08!

Was the air travel worth less than $5k, that's the most that an individual can contribute to a PAC.
http://www.fec.gov/pages/citn0021.htm
There are some tricky rules for planes, but I beleive the lowest the contribution could be counted as would be comparable first class airfare. I would think 5 first class tickets would be worth well more than $5k.
Per the question above, if the travel was paid for by a corporation it would be in complete violation of FEC laws.
Huck's PAC is a federal PAC isn't it?
ARK. BLOG We think it's a so-called 527, which is unregulated as to size of contribution. His Hope for America PAC has already knocked down some $10,000 contributions.
Posted by: Thinking Dem | June 15, 2006 01:39 PM
Disregard my previous post. It appears he must not have a federally regulated PAC. It says it will take unlimited personal or corporate contributions.

flown by a pilot from Hoxie
Yes, I know him. He's often talking about flying country singers around the nation, but never names names...

Such a mild Huckabee response when faced with a question dealing with ethics. RevGov really wants to RevPrez.
And DBI, Mrs. DBI is going to whap you upside the head yet. (I'm still wondering about Mrs. Max's reaction to our leader's declaration that his 30 year marriage would be over if gays were allowed to marry legally. But then I suppose I'm a born gossip sponge.)

If the plane ride was an "in-kind donation" what did Shul get for it? Isn't that what an "in-kind" donation is? I give you something and you give me something back?

Patrick,
Probably the same guy who flew the Beatles into Walnut Ridge, eh?

The Huckster and family are known far and wide for sticking out their grubby hands when they want something. It's an occupational hazard among Baptist preachers who think they sit on the right hand of the Almighty -- scratch that -- when they think they are the Almighty and the rest of us are standing in line with love offerings. He'll lift his skirts for anyone for a play pretty.

I am confused. According to the NH Secretary of State, the registerered agent for Southeastern Asset Management is a Tony Dancona.

Huck went from Phoenix Arizona, all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A.
Huck ain't superstitious, but he does get suspicious, because Ted Suhl is a friend of mine.
Oh big ol jet airliner, don't carry me to far away......

Nope. This pilot wasn't even born then.

In the 80's I have had occasion to bum a plane for Bill to come to FS for different things..ABF generally. Had to make arrangements and get the tail numbers for the records. Never thought anything about it..Someone is always available to engratciate themselves to the guv. The state police didn't have plane then.
ARK. BLOG Correct. We've written before about Bill Clinton's frequent use of corporate jets. It was also problematic, and we said so. Two differences: 1) Clinton reported his trips annually; he didn't have a 527 PAC 2) The ethics rules have changed since he was governor to put the $100 cap on gifts except from old friends and family Can you take a gift otherwise prohibited by accepting it through a PAC? Seems shifty.

Lib Cap,
You've got to look a little further on that link -- click on "filed documents," and you can get to a pdf that names Ted Suhl as the manager.

I've been a Christian for 57 years (ever since I was baptized at six weeks).
However, sending a child to a place called the "Lord's Ranch" makes my hair stand one end.

Suhl can't be all bad. After all, his wife is a Chi Omega from Baylor.

Doigotta, don't forget Patrick's scrotum issues.....we are a mixed bunch of nuts.....but I don't think we have our grubby little hands out and I don't think we'd mix politics, money, free jets, Jesus and troubled boys together in order to make a profit in the darkness under a 527 rock.

Liberal Capitalist -
The Registered Agent for service of process in NH does not count for AR. Check the AR SOS filings for the local registered agent. Most states require a registered agent for service of process to be located within the state in which the company does business. Hence the rise of entire companies who maintain small offices in each state just to be registered agents for foreign corporations.

God'll get ya' for that, DBI.
My only scrotum issue is that Republicans should have theirs surgically removed before they reach puberty. I don't think that's unreasonable, and would eliminate the pressure they feel to buy into that abstinence deal. Plus they'd have a fine countertenor choir at their conventions.
Seems like a win-win to me.

Does any of this remind anyone of the Bible's warning against the "wolf in sheep's clothing"? He wraps himself in pleasing raiment purely for the purpose of filling his corrupt belly at the expense of the sheep. Disgusting.

Re the AP story saying:
"State ethics rules prohibit elected officials from accepting gifts worth more than $100 'if it is intended to reward a public servant for doing his or her job or it is intended as a reward for past or future action.'"
Does this mean it IS legal for an Arkansas politician to be bribed as long as they will do it for less than $100?

"Does this mean it IS legal for an Arkansas politician to be bribed as long as they will do it for less than $100?"
Or have several PACs, which appear to make female genital mutilation OK in many cases......

Hey Blog: How about a thread about the millions of dollars that State Senate Majority Leader Percy Malone has made through contract with the state that he has secured while working for then Gov. Clinton and while being in the ledge. I hear there was some discussion about it at a legislative committee meeting this week but no press coverage.
Posted by: an interested observer | June 16, 2006 12:29 AM
ARK. BLOG: We think it's a so-called 527, which is unregulated as to size of contribution.
I'm confused. There is no limit to how much the PAC can receive. But is there a limit on how much the Governor can receive from his PAC, in cash or free air travel or whatever?
It certainly does sound like he has little excuse to fly to his Marathon meets at state expense anymore.

Mike Huckabee has merged tax-payer dollars with religio-activist endeavors throughout his religio-activist career.Other red state areas are not so tolerantof their fearless leaders: ..............................
A court ruling last week against an Iowa prison program insists upon church-state separation.
Is an evangelical Christian prison rehabilitation program, paid for by taxpayer dollars, constitutional?
The answer, issued by a federal district judge in Iowa on June 2, was a resounding "no."...........................
The latest travesty perpetrated by the Right Reverend Huckster involving millions of medicaid dollars in a swap for favors to the Gov is egriegious beyond comprehension......certainly on a par with the
" Building Character Behind Bars " charlatans as glowingly described in the Arkansas Times of March 9,2006 edition!
The primary danger of such programs is not just the one of " filthy lucre ", but of the inevitable lack of oversight of such shams. $ 8.5 million ....nice work if you can get it...heh Rev Huckster.

Check out all the print and broadcast outlets where this story has been published by doing a Google search in the "News" area - type "Huckabee PAC."
All of this comes to light because of a silly little ol' plane malfunction. Governor, you should be ashamed.

Does Suhl have another business or source of wealth? Because if he can afford a $2.5 million jet on the salary of non-profit director of a youth camp in rural Randolph County, I should say something definitely smells!

Bud is the father - Ted the son
Maybe some govt contracts with airports in California.
Heard Bud helped finance and has ties to some Texas congressmen.
Bud may have a criminal past -
think he reformed and got his start in prison ministries.
