This is akin to W getting irked that a reporter would "dis" him by wearing shades ... but I recall the Huckster, not long after taking office, being irked by the Capitol press corps not standing up for him upon his arrival at a press conference. Huckabee later sent bro-in-law lackey Jim Harris to quiz a few select reporters as to why no one stood up for "the governor." The basic answer, We never have. Why start now?
Posted by: As I recall ... | June 15, 2006 11:47 AM
When that tactic appeared doomed, he resorted to calling Temple -- who had been chief of staff to former governor Mel Carnahan (D) -- "physical security threat to the governor."
See? Security. The White House has used it as a catch-all excuse for years. Now the Governors have happened onto it. That's always the reason they can't answer any questions about...anything.

I'm glad we have some conservative, even if it is anonymouds, participation in this blog. They give themselves a worse reputation than liberals ever could.
It's only a minor annoyance to those of us who enjoy the blog, but it lets whe whole blogosphere see the character of our opponents.
My apology if I may have offended the hand full of conservative contributors to this blog who do know how to engage in constructive, polite conversation.

It really gets down to the heart of crazy when the Jackson, the wingnut aide attempted to frame the Democratic blogger as being like McVeigh, a noted rightwing , gun loving, superpatriotic fellow. Somehow when it comes to McVeigh it's ironic that wingnuts forget he was very conservative, devoutly so and a staunch defender of gunowner rights.

Huckabee says loan of plane was contribution to his PAC
By ANDREW DEMILLO
Associated Press Writer
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) -- Gov. Mike Huckabee said Thursday a flight he took on a private plane provided by the director of a youth ranch that has an $8.5 million contract with the state is considered an in-kind contribution to his political action committee and doesn't pose a conflict of interest.
The Arkansas Times weekly newspaper reported Wednesday that a private jet Huckabee traveled on that had to make an emergency landing in Chattanooga, Tenn., was owned by Southeastern Asset Management, a New Hampshire corporation managed by Ted Suhl.
Suhl is director of the Lord's Ranch in Warm Springs, a religious-based youth home whose contract with the state is paid through Medicaid. State taxes provide about 25 percent of Medicaid's budget in Arkansas.
Huckabee said he didn't know the value of the flight, but said it was made as a contribution to his Hope For America political action committee, based in Virginia.
"I'm very careful with my own personal things not to mix that," Huckabee said when asked if the contribution posed a conflict of interest.
The governor said he wasn't sure if Suhl had provided aircraft previously for trips Huckabee took but he may have. Huckabee said he does not solicit private individuals or businesses to provide aircraft.
The governor, first lady Janet Huckabee, their daughter Sarah, staff member Chad Rockett, and a state trooper were aboard the plane June 2 when the right engine failed. The pilot made an emergency landing at Chattanooga; the plane was repaired, given a test flight, then they went on their way to North Carolina for a state Republican meeting.
Huckabee was in Hot Springs on Thursday to speak at the Arkansas Municipal League.

Liberal here. I'm on my way to pay $500 for my quarterly fed tax, plus to catch up on my franchise tax which I couldn't afford to pay May 1 because I was reeling from April 15th tax payments. And that's all on my second job.

I think with a little digging by the media this whole jet airplane thing could be the bread crumbs that lead us to a whole pack of Huckabee sins.
Nothing about this press release makes Huckabee look any better. It was a deal between this rich guy in Arkansas who is incorporated in New Hampshire and Huck's mysterious, secretive PAC? Oh that makes me feel better!
CROOKED comes to mind. Hypocrite comes to mind. Liar comes to mind. What else is there to know about Ted Suhl? Here I've been worried all these years about Huck and Jennings being shacked up and it appears there is a bigger suitor hiding in the wings of a Cessna Citation II. And what exactly got Governor Ryan of Illinois sent to jail? Why is it Governor Bob Taft of Ohio is hot water?
Pandora has given us a little peek into her box.....it's dark and ugly in there. What if, instead of being the 2nd Governor of Arkansas to go to the White House, Huck becomes the first Arkansas Governor to go to prison?
Alice.....the ball's in your court.

Thanks for the unimportant info, Max. Can we expect any dirt on the Missouri Democrats anytime soon, the ex-Carnahan camp? Or are you just "looking for trouble" with any Republican you can find?
(oh, and the gov had every right to, because BLOGGERS AREN'T JOURNALISTS)
ARK. BLOG What an idiot. There is no statute giving special rights to journalists. And shouldn't be. The FOI, for example, provides for all citizens, not just journalists. Same thing in Missouri. The blogger is a citizen. That's enough. The minute the Carnahan peoople arrest somebody for setting foot in a public building, we'll write about it.

AP reports, "Huckabee said he does not solicit private individuals or businesses to provide aircraft."
Then how in the hell did The Lord's Ranch and Ted Suhl know about the gov's list. Is there's a godslist.com, like craigslist.com, where the saved list their needs and wants?

Anonymous sounds very much like the individual who bragged about paying $85,000 in income taxes last year. The implication is that Anonymous and all the income tax paying Repugs are due special treatment and honors for doing what the democrats and every normal citizen do routinely.

"What an idiot. There is no statute giving special rights to journalists. "
Hey toolbag, there is: it's called the FIRST AMENDMENT.
You can't just throw a journalist out for no reason, if the thrower outer (the gov) is acting in his official government capacity. The gov as gov can't squelch the press as press. If they are too loud, or noisy, or have no credentials, then sure, but this isn't China, and the above situation would be illegal all things equal.
(and don't whine to me about huck taking you off that list, you're not news, your title is a journal of opinion, right-- entertainment, the likes)
That's why "bloggers aren't journalists" does matter. They AREN'T the press. They are citizens with laptops. A california judge disagrees, but a delaware judge, and various judges the "next level up" agree that bloggers are just people.
Wanna call me an idiot again, and i can link the first amendment???

I hope Max gives a blogger spot to one of the more articulate wingnuts. I like 50/50 deals and not only would it show that the AT is fair, it will also allow the whole state to follow the reasoning, thoughts and desires of those who worship Ann Coulter.
Nothing would do the Democratic Party more good than a big airing of Republican opinions in one handy, easy to link to spot. The closer we get to November, the closer Bush-Cheney comes to a melt-down and the closer Huckabee's 12 year charade comes to being exposed for what it is, the meaner Republican bloggers will get. So be it....in the words of your hero, BRING IT ON!

Check out firedupmissouri.com on the web, this is Roy's brainchild and he drives them nuts seven days a week. We could use something like this in Arkansas. There is an ongoing FBI investigation of the Blulnt Administration in Missouri for giving his crony boys favored deals in return for contributions, so the little wienie blunt boys are pretty nervous these days.

Could it be that Zelda's "Monkeyboy" resides in the White House because he's a rich man's son and has rich and powerful friends who think nothing of -- oh say providing a plane ride or two, with the expectation that they will be amply "repaid" later?
Step carefully, folks, if you're not among the "chosen." No shades, no blogging, no QUESTIONS! The next door broken down (nope, they don't have to knock now according to our conservative majority Supreme Court -- well, actually, they should, so say five supremes, but if they don't, oh well, too bad, so sad) to serve a warrant may be yours. Hope you like Gitmo during hurricane season.

You'll have to forgive Brad Anonymous. His hemorrhoids have eaten their way up to his brain. He feels very Ramboesque when he fires off those zillions blanks in his stand against godless liberals and demon democrats.
He's a guiltless conservative and rabid republican, the epitome of the true believer.
Doubtless, according to his missives, he's the only one who pays all the taxes to support our government and the rest of us are just Hillcrest Ho's stealing from his stash.
He gets a boner just thinking about the Bush women, especially Babs.
It is so odd that he complains about having to pay all these taxes he purports to enjoy and then ignores the misuse of same funds by our Huckster, etc.
He is like the yappy dog that barks through the night annoying the neighbors. He mostly does it from loneliness rather than to protect anybody.
So, give ol' itty bitty anonymous a break folks. Without his support, the whole world would collapse into the void.
Which, by the way, is located in some quantum corner of his mind.

Liberal and Proud, I was told the blogger that was ejected was wearing sunglasses, had a white cane and some dog with him. But I could be wrong.
I have been thinking how it's a good thing for the Democrats to decide the boundaries of their own party and eject anyone who claims to be a Democratic office holder, but votes like a Republican. Why be a Ford dealer if you drive a Chevy.
I think it's just fine for the Democratic Party to say they are the Pro-Choice Party. That way we all have a choice and those that don't want none can have memories of not getting any.
And I think it's a fantastic idea for the Arkansas Times to become the Watch Dog of every elected official in the state of Arkansas. What is more patriotic than ferreting out crooked politicians that are stealing our tax money to give to another crook who pass a portion back to them. Honest politicians will have nothing to fear from the AT.
What higher purpose could a news organization have than making sure everyone in office is as honest as apple pie? If the national media gave a flip we wouldn't have George Bush and stolen elections, a War in Iraq for oil, a Congress on the take, no Gitmo or Haditha.
Call it muck-raking if you will, I'll take anything to get rid of our wildly out of control, dishonest and incompetent system of government we're now all suffering under.
And I fully expect the Arkansas Times to put their microscope on the Democrats when they take power next January. If Beebe has some secret circle jerk deal with Bronco Billy's Totally Non-Religious Ranch for Boys...I want it exposed and the guilty drug off in chains.
Everyone thinks this is a contest between 2 political groups. I see 2 groups too, but I see it as a fight between the citizens of this state and this country against anyone who thinks they can win an election and start robbing, raping and stealing at will, after they get in office.
We're at the end of the line and changes must be made. Out with the crooks of either party!
Posted by: Deathbyinches | June 15, 2006 07:27 PM
Well said DBI. It seems a lot of Democrats know what they stand for but the Democratic Party is not coming across as if it has any strong stances to lead the faithful with. I hate to be a bunch of aginners (although there is quite a lot we need to be against).
One of the main faults I see has been the shift in the balance of power from the legislative to the executive, from the many to the one. Also, under Newt, the rules of seniority were tossed out the window and loyalty tests became the norm for getting chairmanships of the committees.
You are right DBI. Many of the current Democrats are wagging their tails in time to the Republican beat simply because it seems to have a patriotic tempo.
So, Arkansas Times shine that searchlight of truth on everyone, whatever they calim, and help us discern the liars and crooks in the process.
Give the Huckster holy hell because he is a hypocrite and deserves some severe smiting and pop a few Dems into that baptism of fire so they too can cleanse their souls of those Republican sins of greed, ambition, and moral superiority.
That ought to keep you busy for another millenium or two.
