Redistricting for Dems

As we said yesterday, the decision on Texas redistricting offers opportunities for Democrats. The LA Times says the party could pick up five seats and make a number more competitive by redrawing lines in states it controls. There are obstacles, however. One is the fractious nature of the Democratic Party.

Fractious nature? The Democrats? Well - certainly not here in Arkansas!

I am sure that Chairman Willett (Jonesboro), Mike Beebe (Searcy/Newport/Amagon), Dustin McDaniel (Jonesboro), Martha Shoffner (Newport), Jim Wood (Augusta/Newport), Jack Critcher (Batesville), and Benny Pettrus (Stuttgart) are all real interested in watering down the 1st CD to a 55% / 45% seat to help the 3rd CD Democrats have a chance.

The Democrats in Arkansas aren't fractured - they are dominated - by one little group of flat-land-ophiles.

The Democrats of Arkansas should petition Lord Berry to see if they could maybe move Arkansas out of the 1930's in its political power structure. Somehow I doubt the decree would come down.

Fractious? C'mon - Brantley Democrats have open arms for moderates in the Party. They understand modern politics and the necessity of buffering the left with moderation so we can keep people like Jim Holt out of office.
