I just took a look at the D-G's NW website and found
a good story on the perennial fight in Eureka Springs over marketing and the recent decline in tourism income, as measured by the sales tax. The marketing community, at a minimum, will be interested At its core, I'd guess, are larger questions about what it takes to lure tourism these days. Quaint and a passion play go so far. Roller coasters, entertainment, gambling, etc., may go farther. Surely I can stir a difference of opinion in ever-ready-to-fuss Eureka.

It's too hard to get to...I'd visit if there were an easier way to get there.

Being hard to get to is part of its charm.

Oh no Max,
Are you sure you want to open that can of worms on this blog?
"Surely I can stir a difference of opinion in ever-ready-to-fuss Eureka."
For an up close look of all the fuss and some good humor too check out the lively, wildly popular local board.

How could you not love Eureka? You'll never see all the infighting when you visit because we know how to be just as charming as our town.
How's that blondeee? Need more Splenda?

That's charming!

A few weeks ago I spent a weekend in Eureka Springs. I love that town.
My advice is to stay away from Cafe Luigi located in the historic district. Over-priced Italtian food with bad servce, and a marinara sauce that tastes like it came straight from the can.
I did make it to Ermilios and it was the best meal I've had in a couple of years.

The best lunch in Eureka can be had at Teramasu Creekside Cafe. Best burger in town. (And I don't have a dog in this hunt.)

Lots of good food and fun shops in Eureka. It's also a very popular marraige destination. It's sad that Eureka seems to have left the conciousness of people in this region, I hope it is able to keep that charm and not have to resort to roller coasters and gambling to stay in business.

We ARE a roller coaster. It's just invisible, but it's one wild ride.

I really like Eureka Springs but once you have visited its like a 15 Min walk around town with over priced Shops who have outdated ART, and cheap tourist Jewlery trinkets, went to diversty weekend and was bored to tears... NO reason to Visit ES Arkansas it never changes been there seen it have the OVERPRICED T-shirts

Gays can't marry. We settled that last year.

I don't know how others feel, but one thing that has put the wife and I off Eureka Springs in recent years is the fact that you can't sit outside in one of the wonderful little cafes and have a lunchtime conversation without being constantly interrupted by many decibels-above-accepted-levels of motorcycle motor rumbling. I know bikers are a big part of Eureka's income these days, but it makes it unpleasant to be outside for the quieter strolling souls. I shouldn't be surprised if many tourists are finding other places to go just for this reason.
I don't think the bikers can or should be ousted, but I wonder if maybe making the shopping district pedestrian-only on weekends might help...or some other outside-the-box thinking. It's hard to have a romantic getaway when your teeth are rattling from passing Harleys.

I found the article about Eureka Springs, full of many negative opinions, and very few positive facts.
I settled in Eureka because of the spirit of community and healing which prevails in spite of the Slings and Arrows
of people who don`t get it.
Thank-God for the people who come here who already turned in the resignation as God.
Go Hogs!!!

Visiting Eureka is to me for nothing but the beauty of the Ozarks. There are great places to stay and eat but 'buyer beware'. If your trying to get away from big city posh and get back to earth then Eureka will do that for you. You have to go for the right reasons. Walking and healing is my purpose there. The last thing I need is another air flight to some overpopulated city. Put life on hold for a week in Eureka and you'll become human again.
