Holt couldn't even pull 42 - I can smell the toast burning once Bill hits the airways.
Blanche should taken a million and put Jesus Jim to bed in '04 - CLEAN SWEEP. How sweet it is.

"Very similar to gubernatorial numbers, we'd note."
Can anyone imagine someone voting for Beebe and then voting for Holt? Or voting for A$A then Halter?
I can't.

Arkie-
I can't imagine that, but, I can imagine hoards of people voting for Beebe or A$A(!) and then not voting in the Lt. Gov race.

Someone, please explain what happens when a voter skips a race. I believe that is deemed an "under vote" or something like that. Does it invalidate the whole ballot?
Posted by: Anonymous | July 28, 2006 06:01 PM
6:01
If a voter skips a race, then simply no vote is recorded for that race. It by no means invalidates the whole ballot.

You know, Holt rode the gay sex issue to a respectable climax against Senator Lincoln. Perhaps, his new bogeyman, gay illegal immigrants, will provide him enough stimulation during the campaign.

39% of Arkansans are extremists. That's sad.
Posted by: Anonymous Troll 32 | July 28, 2006 06:06 PM
When Halter finishes with Holt he will join Hathorn and Wooldridge as former rising stars in Arkansas politics. Halter will do what Lincoln did not have the nerve to do. Oliver, Cook Jackson and company are going to have a field day.
Posted by: Observer | July 28, 2006 06:19 PM
39% are either extremists or ignorant. You've got the little old lady types who just think Holt is a fine Christian man. Then you've got the poor white trash who thinks anybody different is taking something from them. Then you've got the Ft. Smith McCutchen types who are simply evil. Guess there's a reason Holt has never supported education.... it undermines his base.

In eight years when Dustin and Halter run for GOV! It will be interesting how much money they put in the race to buy the office. Democrats just buy things they sell their votes. The millionaires are the only people that can serve in Arkansas. The middle and lower class have no one to represent us anymore.
Posted by: Anonymous | July 28, 2006 06:21 PM
I can't believe that Jesus Jim and the dancing Holts were able to get to 39% in this poll. I think it may be skewed to the NWA district (haha). Seriously, it is a sad day when an out right bigot/snake handler garners 39% in a statewide poll. But on a brighter note, it seems that the Republican Party's stranglehold on the total fucking moron vote IS actually slipping. There must be some validlity to yesterdays poll. I am curious as to what these numbers will look like in October, long after Jim has run out of money and Halter is still pounding away at him on TV. Maybe he will get the sympathy vote out. I am looking forward to the all night prayer vigils hoping to conjure up some extra votes in Springdale.

Unfortunately, I think Holt will get a few more votes than he normally would because of the "Halter is a porn peddler" line of crap from Tim Wooldridge. I'm surprised to hear the level of contempt for Halter that this caused when talking to people in the north part of the state. They believe it because it came specifically from the good Democrat's mouth, and isn't some Republican scheme. Holt will probably milk it for all it's worth. In the end, I don't think it will be enough to cost Halter the race, but it will make things a bit more interesting.

Come on now, you can't have it both ways.
Asa has had the usual suspects in to help raise money for his floundering campaign - McCain, Cheney....and soon Miller. Asa knows that the merry go round is powered by money. If Asa cashes in on his "pennies from heaven" Fortress deal before the election, and he needs cash (and he will) he'd drop his own dough in a New York minute....guaranteed.
So don't be throwing darts at McDaniel or Halter - it's politics and the old saying -
"money talks and bullshit walks" was probably coined by some politician.
Lord I'm gonna have to lose 20 pounds to get into my best suit for the January celebrations -- all 7 of them!

Hey this year is the turnaround of turnarounds. Repugs complaining that the other side has too much money. Didn't think I would live long enough to hear it...after Reagan's gilted era and Darth Cheney's golden-rule club (who has the gold rules) now they have the damn gall to complain.
Just amazing.

Who the friggin hell is Bill Halter, I know he bagged groceries and got a scholarship from the labor unions. I know he supports lottery gambling, all be it his numbers are way off base, for teacher pay raises and improving our educational system. Halter did profit, in an Asa like manner if you insist on the comaprarison, by taking his Clinton connections and bringing in federal contracts to comapanies that he was on the board of directors. Six months after he accepted a seat on Akami, or whatever the heck the name is, they got the U.S. Army contract for content delivery on the web. Halter is in a different regard, worse than Jim Holt in a number of areas. If wanting to be an elected official is totally about how much money you have, Halter is by far the candidate of choice in the race. Although Jim Holt obviously has no wealth personally, I have to give him credit for being totally committed in principal to his ideals, regardless of the so called "extremist" nature of the issues and positions he stands for as a politician, if anything Holt is actually an anti-politician, no support from special interest, no ties to big corporate interest, which of course equals no money in his campaign coffers. This will be a competitive contest, regardless of Halters's extreme money advantage, if he chooses to take the low road against Jim Holt, which will most likely be the case, he is risking losing many voters of his own party that are, despite conventional wisdom, values voters; Dems included. How did the marriage amendment pass with nearly 8 of 10 Arkansans in favor if we have a state that is not socially conservative. Wooldridge opened the wounds on Halter, Holt will surgically define him as what he is, a genuine liberal who in fact profited from his investments in a number of corporate interest that have fact based issues of SEC investigations and huge settlements with investors, plus of course the pornography issue, which for a huge majority of the so called "trailer trash" vote in our state will be votes against Halter. Go ahead Mr. Bill and attack Holt, his base will rally and work ten times as hard as the voters Halter is buying, faith based voters will stick with Jim Holt statewide. Remember and never discount the power of the religious community in Arkansas. Without the Baptist, Arkansas would have passed casino gambling fifteen years ago. It is totally a disgrace that every election is measured solely on the bank accounts of the nominees for office, but than what can we expect in a nation where "money talks and BS walks" after all.

Hey Bill, you were not my man in the primary....but I got your back now. Spend baby, and bury Jesus Jim - he's got 7 young..un's and he needs to be home home teaching them there family values. We don't need him raising his ugly head in '08, he's got enough raising to do.
Posted by: BlueTicker | July 28, 2006 07:11 PM
Whois...
You greatly under estimate the Democrats in this state. Now if it was anybody but Holt - say Matayo - then you must might have a reasonabole argument. But it's Holt.
And the Democrats are gonna circle the wagon....you can take that to the bank.
Posted by: NWAobserver | July 28, 2006 07:15 PM
First of all, Holt has 9 kids. How can he be an anti politician? By his own admission, that is all that he is. Supports that huge family on legislators pay. If you buy that..........let's talk about that Broadway Bridge.
Posted by: Observer | July 28, 2006 07:47 PM
9? my bad.
And exactly how can you support 9 + 2 on $13,000 base and let's be generous, with per diems - say 30K?
He must be fripping Blanche Dubois - "whose alway depended upon the kindness of strangers" - because that's about $450 a week for a family of 11 - something isn't adding up!

Anonymous 8:31, I did not make that post. Someone took advantage of this board and posted in my name. I would never speak in those terms on a public board.
Your INTELLECT, or lack thereof, and reasoning is what is truly astounding!
For the record, I am a good Democrat, and I am supporting the Democratic ticket.

Mr. Pritt - reread that, I was slapping the dog shit out of the idiot who posted the 8:31 post. I knew that you were not the 8:31 poster. My apolgies if you misuderstood.

Truly disturbing that Holt gets props over...what, even 15%?!
This clown gets 44% against Blanche (for whatever that's worth).
This guy complains about state gov't, and is running to shrink it...and at the expense of "others"...and especially the young ones.
I don't know Bill Halter personally...however, he is educated and he doesn't use a "family bed."
If there are any TRUE Republicans on this blog...having Holt one heart beat away from Guv should scare the yahoo out of you.
By the way, did anyone see R.D. Munger's letter to the editor today in the DoG?! Entertaining...really...pull it out of the garbage if you subscribe...

I said 10, I'll take 9, but Herr Rove says you only have to win 51% to rule the world.
You have to stoop down to the snake-handlers of this state to find the Jim Holt base. People who formerly screwed their own kids before receiving the soul saving grace of Jesus into their lives. Now that their reformed they'll still believe anyone like a Jim Holt. Sad really, even to me.
Hurry November and let's be done with all this electioneering. Maybe next year we'll see wonders worked in Arkansas, across the nation and in the war torn parts of the world....which is about all of it thanks to Bush-Cheney.

I live for the day when Arkansas will rise from 49th in about anything one can mention. Despite having pretty good governors since Faubus, we can't seem to progress much. Rockefeller, Pryor, Bumpers, Clinton, all tried to elevate us out of the last century, but the Wal-Mart shoppers don't give a damn.
Despite the odds, my kids are successful, but most of their classmates are stuck in low-end jobs. Sad.
Posted by: pj | July 28, 2006 11:44 PM
this is encouraging because unlike blance lincoln, halter has some experienced and sharp people around him like Bud Jackson and Ron Oliver who won't hesitate one moment to bury Holt.
if blanche had buried him before holt probably would be even less irrelevant if not out of politics by now.

definitely proven in this Halter/Holt poll. to think that many men could vote for the scary creep Holt is sickening!

Take heart from the fact that most of the German public supported Hitler.
Rest assured that no matter how low we go, there is always more evil we can do.
Go in comfort knowing that soon Mexicans, Catholics and Liberals will be burning at the stake.

KTHV never called us. All their calls must have went to Hillcrest & Quapaw !!!!!!
Poll the real people...the ones that actually vote and that pay taxes and count for something...do that and Halter is toast. Holt rules!!!
Posted by: Anonymous | July 29, 2006 11:02 AM
Blue Ticker...Hillcrest Trash like you will never see Halter in that office. Asa-Holt will steer this state and your kind will finally have to get off welfare and get a job.
Posted by: Anonymous | July 29, 2006 11:05 AM
I am for Asa since my job scrubbing floors has been taken by a hispanic person. My Mercedes needs new tires, my poodle hasn't had a trim in weeks, and I've written several hot checks to US Pizza. I am ready for a big Homeland Pork sandwich!

I bet Huckabee doesn't vote in the Lt. Governor's race. He and Holt do not get along and no amount of party unity will change that.
Posted by: lobbyist | July 29, 2006 01:45 PM
Listen, son, I don't understand how you can stand the reflection of yourself on the CRT when type things like that.
How can you support Holt? He has been amongst the worse Legislator's since he darkened the House doors. He's a joke in committee - he shows up - just long enough to get his per diem - then he "slips out". He's not there to listen or help, he's there to collect money.
He has sponsored some of the meanest, and unconstitutional legislation we've seen in a long time. Frankly, he's a joke amongst our Legislators - including some of his own.
And yet you blindly support him, he's never represented Springdale, the folks that voted for him.
Now, maybe your just a pup who believes everything your Red masters feed you - but I'm an old sage and I've got a couple of D legislators that are just about as worthless as Holt has been, but not as nasty an mean (all under the shadow of the cross of course) - and I wouldn't piss in their mouths if their throats were on fire and I surely wouldn't vote for them even though they are Democrats.
So tell me son, give me a reason, with examples why Holt has earned your support and vote.

Wow Blue Ticker
You sure do shut these baby trolls up with your logic.
A tip of the hat and keep up the good work!
When Clinton ran for president he showed that you can't leave these attacks unanswed. And it worked.
Good job!
