People watching

Good timing. This week's Arkansas Times is our Best of issue and the winner in the people watching category was the Clinton Library. Tim McGraw dropped by today. (Alas, not Faith.) Al Franken will be there tomorrow, of course.

Thanks to the clinton center and the clinton school for bringing the stars out. There will be more to come, from music stars to world leaders.

Yeah...Old Franken is a world leader alright !!!

Little Rock's spot on the map continues to get bigger and bigger. With the Clinton Center and the Clinton School at work, we are certain to see great things in the future.

Ah, yes, the so-called "Best of Arkansas" issue. And all the winners as usual happen to be in Pulaski County.

I don't object to that. I understand most of the paper's readers are in the LR area. What I object to is the presumptuous and incorrect title of "Best of Arkansas" when in fact it should be something more limited like "Best of Central Arkansas."

We in NW Ark have long looked askance at this kind of Pulaskicentric language that assumes that the best of everything is within a five-mile radius of the Capitol dome.

But thre is hope, NW readers. The Fayetteville Free Weekly is now conducting its own Best of NW Ark poll. Unfortunately, its web site doesn't carry the entry form, so you'll have to pick up a print copy and mail it in. So be it.

Clinton Library is beginning to look like a Wal-Mart. The parking lot is packed and cars are trying to find a spot. It is becoming a destination, not just a stop-off on the way to somewhere else. People are looking for Democrats!

Anyone besides me note the irony of actor Ty Hardin coming to the Clinton Library. Hardin's a fairly well-known anti-Semite, max-conservative, extremist on a number of issues.

The Clinton Library is the best thing that has happend to Arkansas tourism. My friends at ALLTEL Arena tell me having the Library here makes it much easier to draw big stars to the area. This is a great place to live.

Yes, but the REAL question is will Monica join them? I've heard that Juanita may make a guest appearance.

Saw Associated Press article reporting Clinton's favorability ratings at 61 percent while George W. at 34 percent.. Get ready for a Democratic sweep in Arkansas. (with exception for the one-party machine politics of John Boozman in the Third District)

On the evening of July 20, a concerned aunt drove her 26-month-old nephew to a Department of Human Services office in Little Rock to show caseworkers the bruises on his buttocks and back. The child had been spending the night at his aunt's when she changed his diaper and discovered the marks. /more/
