Plame sues Cheney, Rove

Via Reuters:

Former CIA operative Valerie Plame and her husband sued Vice President Dick Cheney, top White House aide Karl Rove and others on Thursday for their role in the disclosure of her classified CIA status.

The lawsuit alleged "a conspiracy among current and former high-level officials in the White House" to "discredit, punish and seek revenge" against Plame's husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, for publicly disputing statements made by Bush justifying the war in Iraq. ...

Plame and Wilson's suit said the couple suffered violations of their constitutional and legal rights, including an invasion of their privacy, and that the disclosure of her name destroyed her CIA career. ...

The 23-page lawsuit said the defendants "embarked on an anonymous 'whispering campaign' designed to discredit and injure the plaintiffs and to deter other critics from publicly speaking out."

Oh this is going to be good! And, I doubt Bush's pardons and trusty terrorism umbrella can protect em.

...made my afternoon.

YAY! Go Valerie and Joe! Stick it to these sorry bastids any way you can. Maybe the Kool-aid drinkers from another thread will read all this and understand the supposed Fox Fax they spew are nothing but lies.

If we can't get rid of the criminals in the White House any other way, maybe if everyone they've wronged files suit, they'll drown in legal problems, like they let the people of New Orleans drown in the nasty gator filled water. Bush-Cheney think they're above the law, it's time to let them know how wrong they are. This makes my day!

RIP Red Buttons & Larry Tate's wife.

Go get 'em Valerie and Joe! This made my whole weekend!

This is great. There have been many cases where criminal courts failed to do their job, but civil suits were filed and some satisfaction attained.

Didn't the Goldman family sue and win a civil suit against OJ after the criminal court found him not guilty? I think so.

This should at least have a better chance of getting the truth out, instead of all of this secret grand jury testimony. The evidence and filings will be public record. Guess we'll find out the truth about her status, one way or the other.

This is the best news I've had in a while! If nothing else, the lawsuit will reveal what we already know: This administration stops at nothing to destroy any enemy, real or perceived. I hope the slimeballs (Rove, Cheney and others) get exactly what they deserve!

A far right wing federal judge--or judges--will reflexively throw this out, but kudos to Wilson and Plame for having the courage to do this.

Fucking A, Batman!!

The case will be tossed on a summary judgment motion because there is no merit. The CIA was the one who told Novak and Rove simply said " you heard that too" when Novak mentioned it to Rove.

Sorry, if only lawsuits could be based on fantasy, the White House would get what's coming to them.

I would make a pro-plame statement, but I know Rove and Cheney are looking at URLs.

All the bloggers so far here are blood sucking bottom feeders...same old five or six socialists. Don't you people have any new recuits yet?. Old Zelda is always the first then the rest of you morons fall in place behind her.

I tend to agree that the case has problems on merit. However, if the suit is designed to "out" the vicious nasty culture that the NeoCon Calvary goes to to protect person's or agencies that intentionally go after a spouse of a man they don't like or disagrees with their lies and deseption...bring it on Joe and Val.

A problem for Rover - from a former CIA agent

"First, Robert Novak has been repeating the nonsense that he learned Valerie was undercover because he looked her up in Who's Who. Excuse me? If you looked up Valerie in Who's Who back in July 2001 it said nothing, I repeat NOTHING, about her working for the CIA. The only way Novak knew that she worked at the CIA was because Karl Rove told him."

"Bill Harlow, the CIA's spokesman said more than he should to Novak but at least he warned Novak not to print anything about her identity."

"Second, more than 10 former intelligence officers (myself included), identified by name, have stated that Valerie was undercover when she was outed. Those are cold, hard facts."-- Larry Johnson

She needed to file a civil suit to try and recover enough money to pay for all of those beach jobs she needs. Bleach is pretty expensive and you know how much the broads like to look younger especially when they start getting older.

I watched a judge who had read the complaint and he was laughing at how ridiculous the suit was. He said she had no chance of winning. Apparently, they had really hacked off that the Special Prosecutor found no merit to the charges that she was outed and refused to prosecute anyone. You know about woman's wrath. Well, she can get her panty hose in a knot but that won't win the case for her. Sorry sweetheart.

'former cia operative'---boy, you clowns at the AT love to editorialize. The closest she ever came to being an 'operative' was when a real spook made a pass at her at the copy machine.

"All the bloggers so far here are blood sucking bottom feeders"

Oof...I just had to pull myself together, Anonya$$...you have to stop it...you are killing me! I was laughing so hard I spilled my Cold Beer all over my keys...oh goodness, I may have to check back...I just blew my flip flop and scared the damn cat...I'll check back with you, Anonya$$...

She should have sued her husband. He is the one who outed her when he mentioned her work in Who's Who. Those little facts bother you liberal clowns. Don't they?

Hey, good looking woman. Like her golden locks.

rosso---you one of those bleach blond hussies? If you are a good little wuss maybe she will let you lick the bottom of her 'covert' shoe. Hey, man. You got to get your liberal ticket punched somewhere so why not here where it is safe to be a wuss.

Not that it matters to the 5:54 troll but I believe the wording "former CIA operative came from the Reuters news wire.......not the AT, but then again reading comprehension ain't one of your strong points huh? A little too quick on the draw there son........is that why your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend calls you the original 30 second wonder?

Anonymous comments should be banned. It's getting old having the same 3-4 people generate useless comments to the discussion.

I liked this picture better than the one on the cover of Vanity Fair. She had a scarf on her head and she was partially blocked by big boy. Man, I bet she got pretty hacked at big boy when he blew that last job he had. It was just a flunky level position but she probably was making more than he was and they have quite a life style to support.

Smart move getting him that special assignment to Niger. It helps to know someone in the agency especially when all you got is flunky credentials.

..."Second, more than 10 former intelligence officers (myself included), identified by name, have stated that Valerie was undercover when she was outed. Those are cold, hard facts."-- Larry Johnson

While the 'cold-hard facts' will impact the trial/lawsuit, they won't put a dent in the Limbaugh lies being spewed on this blog. Bush Babies are impervious to outside light...they'd whither and die.

I agree with BlueTicker...regardless of the trial outcome, the trial itself will be deliciously enlightening. Hope they can get this thing moving along in time for the fall elections.

I agree with JD. This is why registration to post on one of these forums is so important. I suspect there are just one or two trolls posting the same right-wing crap over and over and over again.

I know...and all the rest of us are Zelda.

Let's leave the kindergarten personal attacks out of this. If you think it adds anything to this debate except your underlying repressions...you are wrong.

This whole Wilson/Plame thing presents yet another great danger to our country. You got a guy who says the POTUS and his Calvary lied to get us into a war. He went public and called them on it. Instead of being men and not the weasles they are, they went after his wife. I don't care if she wasn't undercover, which the evidence clearly states - the fact that this NeoCon Calvary sought retribution on what should have been protected under the "whistle blower" act is flat ass scary.
Wilson and Plame were attacked as a way to put on notice that anybody who disagrees or tells the truth about these Thugs - there will be consequences - a very clear and yet another example of the full frontal assault on our democracy.

And, if it's thrown out pre-trial...there will still be lots of revelations about how this corrupt Whitehouse works...mmm.

Yea, Larry Johnson. Is he the one that chased her around the water cooler? Bleach blonds don't make spooks. If you really believe that she was a spook and performed as a real in the field covert---you are probably dumb enough to believe that Clinton didn't have sex with that woman. The only thing she had to worry about working for the agency is breaking her fingernails on the keyboard.

Zelda,
You bet, and the depistions under oath (yes oath) are gonna be very inlightening. One way or the other, what really went down is gonna be out there for all to see. No hiding testimony under a Special Prosecutor's protection...God, if I was in that room, I'd have to take a bath after the slime start coming in one right after the other.
You see

GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY

You loony liberals who are so good at pointing fingers out to talk to the former girlfriends of your fearless chief who conincidentally got audited by the IRS. Clinton's use of Private Investigators is rather notorius. I know that he used them when he was Gov. So get off of your high horse. You only scream when it is your ox being gored.

We are many and we are not going away. For years you have monopolized this left wing blog with no challenge to your nonsense. Now there are many who will not let you get away with it. Arkansas is our territory not yours. We are the many in the South. Get used to it. If you don't like it take your bloomin carpet bag back to where you came.

Charming debate tactics.

Damn that Bill Clinton is good, not one topic/crime/program/world event happens without him having played some pivotal role that subsequently leads some innocent Republican down the wrong path. Good Gawd the Anonymouse Right Wing nuts on this blog need help!

Yeah. You are many. And you all have the same name--anonymous.

Until the legions of you have the balls to post at least some sort of made-up name and stick with it, we're just going to assume you're all the same person. The same crazy, crazy person....

"We are many and we are not going away. For years you have monopolized this left wing blog with no challenge to your nonsense. Now there are many who will not let you get away with it. Arkansas is our territory not yours. We are the many in the South. Get used to it. If you don't like it take your bloomin carpet bag back to where you came. "

I'll have another round bartender.

Anon 6:25,

Has this blog been up for "years?" Damn, I must have missed some good reading! As far as the "many in the South" thing, you are right: the whole WORLD now knows that a good portion of the South is backwards, delusional, and incapable of anything but groupthink.

Also, could you teach me your dialect? It's kind of Slingblade-ish in spots.

Any chance the Honorable Susan Weber Wright can get assigned to this case? That way she can repeat her glorious performance in the Clinton persecution-oops,case- and require a dna sample of Scooter, Rove, Cheney, Novak, maybe even W. himself, before she tosses out the case. When the dna test results are run through the FBI data base there will no doubt be multiple hits on everyone of these crooks.

Could this be be the first time ever that we may get crooked mouth Chaney under oath? Being he has never told the truth in his whole life like Anon this could be interesting.

Curious - no need for DNA checks - it's all the same and dangerous to our country.

I'll tell ya what - This blog and it's masters have the courage to post their names to their comments and opinions. You that slither over here from the Ark Fam Blog - who lead by cowards aka David and Jer - do not post their names - they hide behind anon opinons and comments like cowards. Until your boys have the courage to sign their names, you should have no bitch with this blog.
It's a stark paralell on what the real definition of legimate blogs are.
Put a handle to your drivel and hate so I can a least slap you by name coward.

I had a hard time sorting out this whole story until I watched the Frontline piece that DBI posted a while back. After that, everything (and then some) came together for me.

I challenge the anonymous troll to spend the time (less than an hour) to watch the 4 part video series and report back to the blog. Pick apart the PBS production and tell us how we are being misled.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darkside/view/

what is truly important is that the
wilsons are represented by
the proskauer rose law firm,
a real law firm, not the politicos
typically seen in this type of case.

depositions of rove, cheney etc.
might not be that fruitful since
oaths have no meaning to this
bunch whatsoever.

nothing will happen in this case
until after libby's trial is over.
they can take his deposition at
camp allenwood

Hugh and DBI,
Thanks for the path - I've been watching and reading about this since it hit - but I'm going to watch this and hope it clears a few details up for me.
As far as your plea to the Anon troll - those people don't want to know - if they did, they'd have to admit they were lied too, duped and used like a $2.00 whore and they just don't have the courage to do that.
I also suggest that you grab John Dean's new book - it delves into the personality of these people and how the NeoCon's were able to tap into it. Bottom line, they get up every morning scared shitless and will believe anything or anybody that gives them comfort, whether it's the truth or not.
There's a reason that everything is a War.
War on Terror
War on the Family...ad nausem.
A great read and I recommend it to eveyone who battles these poor lost souls.

I'm BlueTicker

The fact that hardly anyone in the criminal cabal inhabiting the White House has been put under oath in the last 5 years is pretty telling. Being under oath kinda reveals how superstitious humans are. Most people will tell the truth. Of course the jail time is worse for lying under oath than it is for just lying, so that oath business is a big line in the sand.

Sure has pissed me off the number of times I've been under oath for little ticky tacky things that come up in life, yet Bush and Cheney waltz into closed door investigations hand and hand and no one dares put them under oath. At some high yahoo House inquiry a while back the Democrats begged pudgy James Sensenbrenner to put everyone under oath and he said NOPE.

Rep. Sensenbrenner is the same sorry sumbich that likes to cut off mics when objections are being put in motion, the same sorry sumbich we've seen on TV a number of times taking his gavel and leaving the chambers when things aren't going his way. How proud he must make all Republicans.

Those of us with enough brains to not watch Fox News or visit Ark Fam already know the facts of the Plame case. If the Plame-Wilson trial goes on twice as long as OJ's and is on all the channels. Don't expect the anonymouses to change their tune. They run from facts. Facts do them no good. Their brains are wired funny. They only hear marching orders from their masters in DC. If they weren't dangerous, I just laugh at them.

But the Wired Wrong is who started every war. The Wired Wrong committed every atrocity known to man. The terrorist with bombs strapped to their bodies are just that side's Wired Wrong. To stop those that are Wired Wrong, we first have to understand them and then we can control them and stop the danger they cause. For the sake of 2546 US soldiers they've already killed, we need to act fast.

Hurray for Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson!

I tend to agree with Arch and BlueTicker on the registration requirement for a post. But, then again I always sign my posts with my real name anyway........so what the hell.

As for dealing with the troll/trolls in the meantime we should all just agree to ignore them and their mindless posts. Responding to those posts just gives them the attention they/it so desperately crave. It's kinda like when the frog gets out of the pond into the hot sun....without water(attention) he will eventually dry up and blow away. Same thing with trolls. I understand how easy it is to respond, like fish and barrels so to speak, but it really isn't worth the time and effort it takes. After all, we got to save our energy to go pick up our welfare checks on Fridays.

I don't know anything about Larry Johnson chasing anyone around a water cooler, but I do know that he is a Republican who was outraged that another CIA operative was outed by the very people she was serving.
BTW, Anon, what is your obsession with bleached blonde hair? You seem to like Ann Coulter well enough.

Anony-whoever is a master debater. Just ask him.

That woman was hired only because she's pretty. I say fire all that got their jobs on looks alone. She looks like a dumb blonde to me. What can a dumb blonde do to get secret our enemies. Go to bed with 'em is all. I am glad she got fired.

Hey, hold on here guys and gals.
These RW Anonymous people are really just hurting. Their deep pain is what causes them to accept the lies and distortions and we as the compassionate ones are supposed to understand them and offer them therapy.

Can you imagine how much it hurts to get fucked by an Elephant, Over and over? So let's have some compassion for them. Just because we never bent over for the Elephant doesn't mean we have to ignore their pain.
_

Anon you are a pathetic little man and a bigot. You assume because she's a women and a blonde that she's not qualified? Did you have a mother and was she a women? Because son, if you were my boy and his momma ever heard him say something as sexist, stupid and damn right mean, she'd kick him down a flight of stairs.
You got a long way to go boy to be a part of the human race. Go shave that head and if you do got a momma, don't let her hear you talk like this, she'd be righfully ashamed. I don't even know you and I'd like take your keyboard and beat you to death with it. I'd heard there were still guys like you breathing, I just wasn't sure.
I'm BlueTicker

"Damn that Bill Clinton is good"

Yep --
*Good enough to leave the country with an unprecedented surplus;
*Good enough to gain respect for this country and its values with allies and foes alike;
*Good enough to make it the Republicans' fault when the government was shut down;
*Good enough to stay focused on the country's well-being despite unprecedented personal attacks;
*Good enough to keep at least some people believing in ideals.
Damn, that's good.

I'm not ignoring their pain, I'm enjoying it. We must be giving them fits for them to send in the lame blowhard(s) they apparently encourage (pay?) to speak for them.

What is most enjoyable is that anyone who googles a subject that is covered on this blog will see a side-by-side comparison of who can think and who can only parrot talking points ad infinitum, context and logic be damned.

It looks weak, and that's what I enjoy.

I said "weak". I should have added "scared".

Oh, and another thing. When you consistently misspell a principal name in the issue ("Pflame"), your various disguises are blown.

I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.

widj & BlueTicker...

right on...

I know I have vowed to not read or respond to idiots, but I simply cannot resist.

Anon 9:58 is stupid, very stupid.

This is why we need tort reform. It is a shame that such lawsuits clog our judicial system. These types of lawsuits anger our leader, George Bush. Everyone knows that the courts are to be used for the following purposes:

1. Litigate religious freedom claims;
2. Allow big corporations to sue other big corporations; and in Arkansas:

3. Keep small schools open.

The courts are not to be used for:

1. To sue corporations for $$$;
2. File embarrassing lawsuits against our leader

sen. moynihan famously said
one is entitled to his own opinion
but not his own facts.

valerie plame was an undercover
agent a NOC in CIA parlance. The
CIA says so. End of discussion.

All this stuff about her not being
undercover is just lies being spread
to confuse people and hustle the
rubes.

Cheney and Rove will Sheehanize Plame. She'll become an unpatriotic whiner, dishonoring our troops, etc.

Guess you liberal wackos didnt hear the news, Joe Wilson outed his wife. Not Rove. Oh and also she was never a "covert operative."

http://thecitizensjournalblog.blogspot.com/2006/07/plame-game.html

so i dont know what they are suing them for. Its probably just another Vanity Fair stunt. They probably just want the attention.
I guess you libs can dream though cant you ?!

THE CITIZENS JOURNAL
"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." Ronald Reagan

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Now Joe and Val will be subject answering questions from the defense lawyers rather than puff piece journalist.

Under Oath works both ways.

GA: That is why we must have a Madam in the White House. HILLARY08. And how better to pay back these repugs.

You quote your own article, John Anderson, and proclaim it to be "news." ?????
Typical neo-con antics.

"That is why we must have a Madam in the White House."

I couldn't have said it better. Referring to hillary as 'Madam' says it all. She has certainly watched over the doing to the nation by her husband that one in a whorehouse does to her girls.

Joe 'don't call me a lapdog' Wilson was pushed by his blonde wife to do investigative work in Niger. The fact that Joe has absolutely no investigative experience doesn't seem to matter to you guys. The fact that his blonde wife was fired from the CIA and was never a covert agent doesn't seem to matter either.

Those of us who are not ga ga liberals wonder what you liberals are so hot and bothered by. Could it be that a bleach blonde with no credentials was exposed and her equally unqualified husband was shown for the loser that he is? I'm sorry that so much time has been wasted dealing with this nonsense when the middle east is a powder keg waiting to go up.

The Middle East has been a powder keg for decades, and Iran specifically. I'm not going to give you a lesson on Middle East politics and its factions - cause it would be pointless...if you wanted to know, you'd of done a little research before you posted.

But let's move to modern day. The NeoCon Calvary decided that Iraq was the great Satan - despite irrefutable evidence that it was a dying toothless dictatorship. But our "boys", being the cowards they are - saw the oil, the countries weaknesses and decide to go and save Iraq and be greated with flowers...not exactly working out for us is it?

In effect, Bush and his Calvary surrounded the outhouse with guns and troops ablazen and took their eye off the barn as it was burning.

Plenty of blame to go around for any adminstration since the '40's and 50's when Isreal was being established - but now here we sit as we threw gasoline on the fire - spending treasury and American lives in a country that clearly was not a threat and sure as hell doesn't want us there - and we have little recourse but to stand by, with hands tied and watch Rome burn.
The diplomatic policies of this Administratioin have weakened our crediblity and our effectiveness to help in this situation and if by some miracle we avoid an all out war - it won't be because of our diplomatic prowess - it'll be because someone we have no particular affinity for steps in - our country has sunk to a new low.

If you must point a finger at

"so some much time wasted at dealing with this nonsense"

I assure you the wasted time, money, lives and our nation's credibility that the Iraq follies have brought to us pales to the Wilson/Plame drama.
I'm BlueTicker

Anon, 12:0, can you read? Does anything except neo-con drival get through your thick skull?

Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson have solid credentials. Rove and Cheney and all the rest of the lying liars run around like cats trying to cover up crap, and idiots like you swallow their lies and make up a few of your own to boot. And what is the obsession with the color of Mrs. Wilson's hair?

Here is a fact for you. Joe Wilson stood toe to toe with Saddam and Saddam blinked.

Cavalry, not Calvary.

If she wasn't trying to bring down two fine men in Cheney and Rove, I would say she's a a good looking piece.

Despite the fact their names are Rove or Cheney - there is always a price to pay for treachery.

And I'm sure if she saw you, she'd cringe and point and laugh - the best birth control money can't buy.
I'm BlueTicker

She is very attractive. Even though I can't stand someone who pretends to be something that she isn't, she is one fine looking woman.

I'd do her if she would stop screwing Cheney and Rove.

I wish Max would screen people based on age. Only someone younger that 12 would refer to a woman who spent 20 years in the CIA (or any other woman, for that matter) as a "piece," and further state that he would "do her if she would stop screwing Cheney and Rove."

"I am proud to have served my country by working at the Central Intelligence Agency. I and my former CIA colleagues trusted our government to protect us as we did our jobs. That a few reckless individuals within the current administration betrayed that trust has been a grave disappointment to every patriotic American. Joe and I have filed this action with heavy hearts but with a renewed sense of purpose. I would much rather be continuing my career as a public servant than be a plaintiff in a lawsuit, but I feel strongly and justice demands that those who acted so harmfully against our national security must answer for their shameful conduct in a court of law."

Statements from Valerie Plame Wilson and Joseph Wilson on their Lawsuit against Rove, Cheney and Libby

Thanks for the link, WWJD. I just read through the complaint.
I predict an long and hard fight, and I have to admire these folks for having the guts to take on the VP and the other stoogies. I would bet that Bush knew about the whole thing, too. If not, why not? Was he kept in the dark?
Lots of questions, let's hope we get answers.
This is a grave issue, a matter of national security. One would think that even the neocons would condemn this White House for putting lives in danger for no other reason than revenge.

I came across a quotation today that reminds me of all this (along with a hundred other things the Bush administration has done):

"It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong." ~ Voltaire
