Another poll; another Beebe lead

In this one, Beebe leads by only 17 -- 55-38. The link is to a political blog that says a new Survey USA poll shows Beebe's margin widening and a sweep for other Democrats, though tighter in the lieutenant governor's race we understand.

Channel 11 uses Survey USA, a robopoll, and reportedly aired the gubernatorial results last night (we can't find it on their website). I'm told it will air lt. gov. tonight. The results, with the internals, are not yet posted on the Survey USA site.

Noted that this is a higher count for Beebe than the Oakleafs produced. A$a advertising starts this weekend. Everything is subject to change, of course.

Katie Couric is catching a little flak for photo-shopping her promo photo, it kind of made me curious. . . After seeing Mr. Beebe's "well-seasoned" (aka craggy) features on the news video headshots last night, I had to wonder what kind of airbrush was used on his campaign material.

Senior citizens of the state, arise and throw off the constricting bands of youthful demeanor! Be proud of every wrinkle, crevice, cranny, crease, age spot, ear and nose hair and varicose vein.

I too noticed Beebe's seasoning in his TV ads and, in fact, he looked much rougher than when I last saw him in person a couple of years ago.

It made me wonder if the Asa campaign had slipped dioxin into Beebe's soup the way the Russians did to Ukrainian President Yushchenko.

We may finally be shaking off the need for political figures to be as youthful and handsome as JFK. Perhaps another Theodore Roosevelt can now come to the forefront of American politics!

Orval and I are having a conversation about the pros and cons of being an Arkansas Democrat today at the creek.

Pro: We completely dominate Arkansas politics.
Con: Jermain Taylor shows up to our opponent's event.

YES!!!

A$A isn't going to win this. Not that Beebe doesn't have some warts, but A$A is seen as a lobbyist, a DC outsider, and one of the Hutchinson boys. He offers nothing on a state level that Beebe doesn't offer. Even a wildly-popular Republican president -- and there ain't one at the moment -- couldn't swing this his way.

Barring Beebe getting caught naked doing it to a goat in the First Baptist sanctuary, this race is over. I know we will have to endure a ton of campaign ads between now and November, but it won't change a thing other than making the ad agencies and TV stations a bit richer.

"in fact, he looked much rougher than when I last saw him in person a couple of years ago."

It's called AGING. It happens in stages as one day follows another and another year of stress and problems are accumulated, the liver and kidneys no longer filter out all our undesired consequences. Spirit, I bet I have neckties older than you.

Judging from my 40ish to 60ish friends who sadly were not, getting older means getting lucky.

Don,
Poor Katie Couric didn't have anything to do with that photoshop trim job...sounds like she is pretty embarrassed about it.

On another note, I noticed that A$A!s River Water BBQ raised $400000 (I think)...those poor donors...just for a quick pic with His Excellency...

Hey Rosso...

You feel sorry for the people dishing out twice that much ($1000) to have dinner with the last president to be impeached?

last president to be impeached

who left office with 30% higher rating than your Disaster Monkey now holds.
Only Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter had lower presidential ratings lower than the Monkey

Click on my name for some interesting numbers there, angry one...

And no, angry, grinning ear to ear and waiting for November...

Tell me...Nixon or Bush II?

Love how you guys totally avoid statements that you have no defense for, and just start up rambling about something else...

as far as approval ratings, your right, it is low... you know who else had one of the lowest all time... Abe Lincoln... I think it is hard to judge a president while he is still in office, only history will be able to tell us how well or poor George has done...

Has he done everything correct? no... has he done everything incorrect? no

if he wanted to make everybody happy, he would gather a focus group and flip-flop like others... he is set in his ways, and believes in what he is doing...

why should we care about approval ratings? the people of this coutry are dumb enought to put into office... who cares about their dumb opinions

Posted by: you seem angy"

HEY ANONYMOUS you can change your name, but your bile is still the same. Get a job, stop the 'LIB ENVY', you Fascist Prick.

Approval ratings indicate whether the people think someone is doing a good job.

If I knew that 70% of my clients or bosses or coworkers or whomever thought I was doing a bad job, I'd worry. There just might be some truth in it.

Yes, failing to change his mind in the face of contrary facts shows that Bush firmly believes he is right, but it also indicates how stupid he is.

Wow, angry...Bush and Lincoln in the same breath...that takes balls...or ignorance.

Since it is clear you are a 30%r...what has His Excellency done right?! Please...anything?!

Oh, wait...I forgot about the heroic effort to wake up in the middle of the night to sign Terri Shiavo's law...

Nice conspiracy theory, but wrong...

Way to jump to conclusions, who cares about facts or figuring something out... but most like you don't... rather scream loudly and gather some attention

if i bring up facts you will just change subject.. or change topic...

i just hope you enjoy being angry

That's understandable, angry. Better to duck out now instead of getting into real discourse about how wonderful of a job Bush is doing...

Then the two years since I saw him last have certainly been stressful. I'm sticking with the Dioxin theory. Somebody better look in to it.

Betcha don't.

" if he wanted to make everybody happy, he would gather a focus group and flip-flop like others... he is set in his ways, and believes in what he is doing..."

This is exactly what he has done so many times that networks quit counting. Every discussion coup..or cuse me..group he had is no more than a focus group, including 90% of Wht Hse Press corp and no different from the crowd at Corky's. All canned. Stanley taught these boys well. So sell your crazy somewhere else...our dustbins are full of it.

There is a distinct difference between anger and disgust. One energizes you the other is just sickening enough to send millions more to the polls for new medicene.

Run your kool-aid stand a bit cleaner next go around.

(Spirit, the oldest necktie I have I bought in '63, a psychedelic one from NYC, back when such things were made in USA. I do have one of grandpa's ties from the early 40's)

Please explain why you give credit to the blog above for the gov. poll results but not arkansaspolitics.com blog for the others? We had the numbers for Lt. Gov., AG, and SOS before anyone. Yet you do not give us similar credit. Don't mean to beat a dead horse but after reading this blog thread, I just don't get it. Why the disrespect?

Why the disrespect?

It's beginning to look like the disrespect was pretty well earned.

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, and that may be true. But generally, ArkansasPolitics, one doesn't inflect the bad publicity on one's self.

Spirit,

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the Times to give credit as they do to others. We've received emails from bloggers who had their posts deleted from the Times blog. Apparently their crime was to link to our site. Others said they had their comments moderated which never appeared. The Times can behave anyway they want. I don't think it unreasonable for people to complain when a blog behaves in this manner. If you do not have a problem with dishonesty and censorship, then it shouldn't matter to you. It does matter to some of us though.

ArkansasPolitics.com is a new venture that we take very seriously. We will be providing news and opinion that is not currently available. We expect to be treated fairly and will treat others fairly regardless of how they treat us.

Richard
