Cheese-eating surrender monkeys
The Washington Post outlines how the Bush administration is trotting out the Democrats-hate-America election theme. Will voters buy? That is the question.
Bush himself, uttering Rove-speak, suggests that you do not have a right to criticize him when he demagogues. From WSJ:
"These are important times, and I seriously hope people wouldn't politicize these issues that I'm going to talk about," President Bush said yesterday while campaigning for Republican candidates in Little Rock, Ark., when asked if he thinks a new series of presidential speeches defending his strategy in Iraq will have an impact on midterm congressional elections.
Keith Olbermann, a beacon of truth in the sludge of cable TV news, offers a commentary on the Bush administration's odious tactics, particularly the Rumsfeld speech.
The confusion is about whether this Secretary of Defense, and this administration, are in fact now accomplishing what they claim the terrorists seek: The destruction of our freedoms, the very ones for which the same veterans Mr. Rumsfeld addressed yesterday in Salt Lake City, so valiantly fought.
And about Mr. Rumsfeld's other main assertion, that this country faces a "new type of fascism."
As he was correct to remind us how a government that knew everything could get everything wrong, so too was he right when he said that - though probably not in the way he thought he meant it.
This country faces a new type of fascism - indeed.

Stuff from AOL that readers may find interesting.
A Canadian University Ad Mocks George W. Bush One Canadian university put out an ad campaign called 'Yale
Shmale' that mocks President Bush. (Aug. 30) You can see the video at: http://us.video.aol.com/video.index.adp?mode=2&guideContext=65.491&pmmsid=1702402
Unfortunately Bush is our President and national embarrassment but there's not a damn thing we can do about that. However I don't find any fought with or do I any desire to chastise the Canadian University.
After all I can think of nothing more scary than some future Canadian President will get elected as half loaded as Georgia Boy.

After the last two presidential elections I've given up all those 'Nah, that could never happen...here...again.'
Between the Republican-loving voting machines and our willingness to buy propaganda that flies in the face of reality, there's no telling what monkeyboy et al will be able to sell...again.

Without a doubt Republicans are the best when it comes to sound bites but leadership skills is something else entirely.
Proofs in the putting so to speak. From what I have seen and from the historical record (history has a way of biting you in the rear) one could drive a prairie schooner between their sound bits versus achievements and never scrape against anything American worthy.
We just got to keep pounding home that democrats need to become big on Sound Bites also but with substance.
Keep in mind that like democrats the republicans appear to have all the attributes of a dog minus the loyalty.

So if you don't 100% agree with the administration's policies, you're a traitor and a terrorist, bent on the destruction of America?
What a refreshingly honest debate tactic. Wish I could say it surprised me.

I really didn't think it was any big deal to change names...but between hubby's registration problems and the hijacking...well, it's simpler to just go back to ole zelda.

He can't change his evil ways can he? What a lying fool. He politicized everything he touches from the destruction of government to the incompetence in Iraq. He called the invasion pre-emption but that too was only political. Watch his mannerisms [if you can hold your stomach], even he doesn't believe the stuff they tell him to spout.

Is that a question or a statement? Didn't see that 100% number or a traitor reference stated in the article, but then I misplaced my reading glasses.
If you are saying the administration is hostile toward you if you disagree with their policies because you will doom America, you are absolutely correct. In like manner, the out-of-favor party is hostile toward you if you agree with the administration because you will doom America.
Face it we are all f., er doomed.

Like Zelda, I harbor no illusions regarding the ability of the American people to catch on. This is, after all, The Land of Jerry Springer.

"Why of course the people don't want war . . . But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship . . . Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." -- WWI War Hero and 1930's Parliament President
His name? Herman Goering.
Karl Rove must have the most dog-earred copy of Shirer's masterpiece in Washington on his desk for a blueprint of the Bush Administration/GOP political strategy and tactics, right alongside Lemons - Goebbels and Der Angriff; and Karl hasn't even had to generate anti-muslamic sentiment.

President Rove will roll out their Message of Hate and message of fear in the next few months. These series of speech will talk about how we all out of touch & don't understand and the terrorist will be marching down oak streets , USA anyday now. These clowns will say and do anything to stay in power. Nothing would surprise me as the neocons try one last gasp grab to hold onto power.

I would not be surprised if there are people in that Springdale Church of Bush who seriously believe that Bush ought to be President for Life. I suspect a few of the anonymous conservatives on this board feel that way. It's not that big a jump from the other violations of our constitution they've supported.

As I once heard, all the Cheney Rovebush types have to sell is fear itself but me thinks their spiel has worn thin by now.
But of course the price of gasoline is dropping so I presume there must be an election not too far down the line. Or am I the only one who sees electioneering in the price of gasoline?

It's ironic that Rumsfeld evokes Nazi appeasers considering that, instead of appeasement, W's grandaddy Prescott Bush only laundered money Nazis.
